Balaji's Global Indian TV Honours were held on Friday at the Andheri Sports Complex. Ronit Roy did the opening act on Hindi chartbusters with a Brazilian troupe. While Tusshar Kapoor, Shabbir Ahluwalia and Rohit Roy got jiggy on the Aye Ganpat remix. The mundas of television — Eijaz Khan, Akashdeep Sehgal, Jay Bhanushali and Sharad Malhotra — wooed Lara Dutta in a fun-filled act. Jhalak winners Prachi Desai and choreographer Deepak danced with Nach Baliye winners Sanjeeda and Aamir Ali.
Director Karan Johar shared the stage with telly couples and the finale had Shah Rukh Khan's Chak De! team that included Navneet Nishan, Neena Gupta, Smriti Irani, Gautami Kapoor, Sakshi Tanwar, Rajshree Thakur, Mona Singh, Anita, Prachi Desai and Divyanka Tripathi. The event will be telcast on 9X soon.
Bubbly Bunty
Bunty Walia's best friend Sanjay Dutt was missing from the Global Indian TV Honours. When we quizzed Bunty who organised the event, he defended Dutt strongly. "Sanju is shooting in Goa for Kidnap and it wasn't possible for him to attend the event at his producer's expense. Being a producer, I understand this." Dost ho to aisa! Not that Bunty missed his buddy much as he looked happy with good friend Binita Barai. Bunty has been overwhelmed with the response the awards have got. "People have been calling me to say how much they loved it, especially Karan and Ekta coming together on stage for the first time."
