An Interesting Post👏, Thanks for putting up😊
I feel 'Ashamed' wont be the right word to use. Of what should he be ashamed of? He didnt force Prachi to marry him, he gave her a proposal with conditions attached and she accepted it for her own purpose. And more over he didnt break Neev-Prachi up, Neev was already married. So there is no sense of feeling of shame on that front. Yes, He surely feels bad for the fate their relationship met with. He assumes Prachi's happiness is with Neev... so he is doing all he can to give Prachi back her happiness....setting her free.
Yday he couldn't meet her eyes not because he was ashamed…but the guy has never asked anyone for a favour in his life. He always will refuse any help that comes his way as a favour… but if he sees that support is coming in not as favour but because they really care for him, he will give himself up completely. That is exactly what happened with Prachi. He resisted her going abt doing things for him…because he saw it as a favour…but when he saw the care and concern, he was more than willing to give himself up and get pampered by Prachi.
Yday's hesitancy came from the fact that the Self Dependant guy that he is needs someone else's help for his father… and he is asking for a favour for the 1st time… it was tough for him on that level and the hesitancy was because of that and also because he was asking for something he gave away by his own will. But primarily it was hesitancy in asking Prachi for a few more days away from her happiness. It was not shame that caused Milind not to meet Prachi's eyes but hesitance. Milind can be guilty, never ashamed even if he is… he will promptly apologize. As far as feeling guilty for all that he did to Prachi... he was truly sorry and made her realise that on the day of the deluge infront of the temple... when he very humbly accepted his defeat and appreciated the beautiful person that she is. So he isnt carrying any baggage of those days now... he relieved himself of that burden long back, but he is ready to face the consequences of that, if she wishes even today.
Yes, there was always feeling in Milind that he isnt worthy of an angel like Prachi... she deserves a Prince Charming and he isnt that polished... that is the nagging feeling he has, though for Prachi that wouldnt matter.... she knows to turn her Beast into her Prince Charming.
Milind can never be ashamed of the background he comes from. He is touchy abt it… it pains him when that background becomes a hindrance in something which is very close to his heart (Eg, his relationship with Prachi) It causes him anger when ppl look down upon his upbringing in an undignified manner…. Else he is a very confident guy and his roots are responsible for the what he stands for, he will never be ashamed of his upbringing. He knows that the man behind the Dahi Handi Champion and The Business Tycoon is the same Milind, the world perceives him differently… but he is the same. Once wittingly he said 'Poster badla hai, Picture abhi bhi wohi hai' Even if he loses all his business and property…he will still be comfortable being back in his chawl. Milind's attitude towards the Shahs has been bitter because he felt they weren't treating his father in a dignified manner, they treated him like a slave…he didn't like his father place the shahs in higher pedestal… that bit of misunderstanding is fading away thanks to Prachi and Premlata.
Very well written...
However I do think he's having a complex, thus confidence-issue considering his background. It's not that he's ashamed or embarrassed of his father and what he was, but he couldn't help feeling insecure and perhaps feeling 'low'. Because it was so clearly showed in this soap that if your father is a servant than you have such a low status in society. And people (meaning Alaap) just don't stop reminding him of this. It crushes a man and his self esteem to be regarded so low (btw I just can't understand why Alaap could be so mean). If he's not somewhat ashamed /embarrassed of his background, I think we wouldn't have seen his outbursts of anger (and even tears! hics3) when the topic was even slightly mentioned.
