Sooraj to adapt Omar's plays
Sooraj Thapar is still in a daze after meeting one of his most admired artistes, Omar Sharif of Pakistan, when he had recently come down to India. Sooraj who stars in Kayaamat and Kasautii Zindagi Kay recently got this opportunity through common friend Raju Shrivastav. Incidentally Sooraj's first play Kisse Keh Rahe Ho two decades back was the Hindi translation of Omar Ssharif's play that ran very successfully and had a whopping 100 shows till copyright problems came in. Sooraj and Omar quickly caught up and were in high spirits. "It was an amazing experience to meet such a talented man. At first he hadn't recognised me, but suddenly he remembered me from my show Hum Saath Aanth Hain and hugged me." But what ultimately thrilled him was when Omarf said Sooraj could go ahead and adopt, translate and enact any of his plays without his permission. "I am touched that he gave me permission to do any of his plays. I consider them brilliant and it would be an honour to enact more of his plays,"says Sooraj.
