Btw you never said which name you like more MiNder Or InCky 😆 Hey, I forgot to answer than. I will go with your's. Its MiNder for me 😉😆😆. Sounds sweet. InCky is a bit like Poocky 😆😆. That reminds of a character in the movie "Boat trip". She was called Inca. It was riotously funny movie. If you haven't watched it, do it sometime? You will literally roll on the floor, laughing😆. Too much of dostana though 😉😳😆😆 Yay you love the name MiNder too 🥳😆 Do you mean he film with Cuba Gooding Jr? If so Ive seen it and it was quite funny 😆 They are on a gay cruise so what else can be expected 🤣 Oh so you watched it? That's the one I was tallking about. I didn't want to mention the gay cruise bit that's why I mentioned Dostana 😉😛😆😆. I was only trying to be subtle 😛😆
Btw Ive seen you on the Pratigya forum too 😛 How are you liking the show? I have seen you there too and a few from kayamath forum. I like the show and I like the brilliant actors more, especially SS and Amma. Sucksenas are good too 😛😆. But the forum is so split into two with a lot of bashing, so I don't post anything there. Just a few "thank u"s 😆

Hello everyone, here comes another loooong update. I am winding up all the wedding rituals in this. The actual wedding will be in the next one. Cheers 😃
Part 72
Gayathri bua frowned at a giggling Micky. After carefully watching him for the past 15 minutes, she decided that he was definitely weird. Already she had difficulty understanding his English accent and on top of that it grated on her nerves everytime he called her, Mrs. Bua. She tried telling him to just call her Bua but he kept insisting that it wasn't respectful. Mrs. Bua! She snorted in disapproval. She could see the women behind her smirking but she also knew that they wouldn't dare say anything about this to anyone. She called out to Prachi to come down quickly. Handing the responsibility of looking after Milind's friends to Bua and a few of her cousins, Prachi was getting ready upstairs with the help of her friends. Premlatha, Niharika and the other women would soon arrive after performing puja in the near by temple. Bua smiled seeing Prachi walk down dressed in a mehndi green and golden gagra choli.
She touched her head fondly, "Kiski nazar na lag jaye meri ladli ko", she said and turned sharply as she heard Micky's voice behind her.
"Ooooh, Prachi honey, you look so preetttty", exclaimed Micky and tried to give her a hug.
Quick for him, Bua stepped between them, "Bas bahut ho gaya. Tum jaakar baith jao, Prachi. Thodi der mein rasam shuru kardenge", she said sweetly and banished Micky back among the other girls.
Prachi smiled shyly as Merin and the other girls also exclaimed how beautiful she was. She was secretly glad that Sally hadn't joined them. She hadn't actually extended the invitation to her when she invited the girls in general to attend the function but would never have turned Sally away if she had turned up. She was glad that she wouldn't have to hear her nasty comments and spoil the beautiful evening. Her mother should be here soon. Happily, she sat down among the women discussing the mehndi designs.
After making excuses of finding a loo, Micky managed to get away from Prachi and the girls. His eyes searched for Inder. For such a small house, he seemed to have done the disappearing act very successfully but Micky was not the one to give up. Walking towards the garden, he bumped into a man carrying a tray of fruit juices.
"Oh, I am so sorry. By the way, I am Micky", he extended his hand and smiled.
Ramu Kaka looked bewildered. Not expecting to see an English man in front of him, he stuttered, "Ramu Kaka" he shook his hand and quickly handed him a glass of juice. He had come from Ooty two days ago and more than happy to help with the wedding of Prachi betiya.
"Oh, thank you, Mr. Kaka. Now, tell me where to find Mr. Inder Shah. I have been looking for him everywhere" he Micky smiled.
Ramu kaka shook his head, "No Mr. Kaka…….Ramu kaka……..Sabji upstairs", he indicated with his hand and moved away.
Micky brightened, "Thank you, Mr. Kaka" he shouted again to a irritated looking Ramu kaka and rushed upstairs.
Inder was busily talking to Neev about the dinner arrangements for the evening. The number of people attending the function was more than they expected and the small house would definitely struggle to accommodate a sit down dinner. Neev suggested having a buffet instead and Inder gladly agreed. There were enough young men in the family to take up serving and Neev and Prachi's cousins happily volunteered.
"I too would be delighted to help in anyway I can, Mr. Shah", Inder jumped hearing him speak close to his ears.
Recognising him from the engagement ceremony, Neev smiled at him and welcomed him politely. Excusing himself, Neev rushed off to make the dinner arrangements, leaving a horrified looking Inder alone with Micky.
Micky moved to stand closer to him, "I was looking everywhere for you. Luckily, Mr. Kaka told me where to find you", he said softly.
Inder looked surprised, "Mr. Kaka? Who is that?" he asked, moving slightly away from him.
Micky pointed to Ramu kaka standing in the garden, "Him", he said.
A smile played on Inder's lips and giving up, he laughed softly. "That's Ramu Kaka. Kaka is not his surname, just a respectful way of calling him, like 'Uncle'" he said. He laughed again and froze on seeing Micky's unwavering gaze.
"You should laugh more often, Mr. Shah. It suits you", he said huskily. "Do you mind if I call you 'Inder'? Mr. Shah, sounds too formal and its time we got rid of any such formality", he said softly and touched his arm.
Inder jumped back as if scalded and cleared his throat loudly, trying hard to get away from him.
Micky smiled, "You know why I came here this evening or do you want me to spell it out, Inder", he said huskily.
Inder's face turned bright red and he took a deep breath looking for a way to escape the mad young man's clutches. "I am busy, Micky. I have to check on dinner", Inder said quickly and tried to walk away.
Micky stepped in front of him and Inder's body brushed against his and hestumbled. Micky steadied him, "Let me come with you then. I will do anything you want me to do", he said huskily.
Inder gulped and moved away. This is slowly getting out of hand. He contemplated throwing him down from the terrace or even break a flower pot on his head….just anything to shut him up. He shook his head as if to clear the murderous thoughts. "No thanks, Micky. Why don't you go inside? Prachi might be looking for you", he said and pointedly stepped past him. Then he heard Premlatha's voice calling his name and relieved, replied back that he was upstairs.
"Inder, aap yahaan kya kar rahen hai. Ab function bhi shuru karna hai. Neeche aayeye" said Premlatha, breathing heavily after rushing up the stairs. The relief on Inder's face was remarkable and Premlatha looked at the two men surprised.
"Haan, Premlatha, come here. Let me introduce you first", a smiling Inder pulled Premlatha closer. "Micky, meet my wife and Premlatha, this is Micky, Milind's friend" he said quickly.
Micky stared at the woman standing next to Inder, politely welcoming him. So, this is his wife, Prachi's mother. There were too many women around Prachi at the engagement and he never gave a thought to her mother. A sudden jealousy gripped him on seeing her beautiful face and her genuine encaptivating smile. Oh, what a lucky woman she was to have Inder as her husband! He managed a smile and answered her questions automatically. He watched Inder smile at her with so much affection, "You go down, Premlatha. I will join you shortly" he said. Telling Micky to come down quickly, Premlatha walked down. Inder looked at a very quiet Micky, "Let's go down, Micky. I have to join my wife and daughter", he said softly and they walked down in silence.
Micky had recovered by the time he joined Prachi. The singing had already started. Throwing a hauty look towards Premlatha he sat down next to Pooja, clapping his hands to the music. He decided that he didn't like Mrs. Shah. He watched Prachi's parents do the puja and bless their daughter. The evening turned enjoyable as the girls started dancing. Prachi also joined them, pulling Micky along. Inder had disappered again and Micky kept looking at Premlatha time and again. Soon, application of Mehndi started and Micky watched in fascination. He bothered Gayathri bua so much that she let one of the girls draw a small flower on the palm of his left hand which he showed off proudly to everyone. Premlatha called out to Milind's friends as soon as the chat table was set up. Much to Micky's annoyance, she guided them to the garden, encouraging them to help themselves. Not one to miss out on the opportunity to taste Indian delicacies, Micky indulged himself. He looked annoyed as his second attempt to stuff a full pani puri in his mouth failed. He stomped in annoyance as he brushed the water dribbling from his mouth, ignoring the laughter around him. He stilled as Premlatha handed him a bunch of tissues.
"Here, Micky! Let me help you", admonishing the laughing young men, she proceeded to show him how to eat it properly and smiled brilliantly when Micky popped one in his mouth unbroken. "Well done, see it is not that hard", she said affectionately.
Inspite of himself, Micky smiled, "Thank you, Mrs. Shah. I really appreciate that" he said.
Premlatha laughed, "No need to thank me, Micky. I only want you to enjoy the evening to the fullest. Please don't hesitate to tell me if you need anything. I am so glad to see so many of Milind's friends here. Thanks for coming. And I am not Mrs. Shah, just call me aunty, like everyone here does" she said gently.
Micky's eyes widened, "Oh, you are really kind. I know I am a misfit this evening. Milind did warn me", he said suddenly very conscious to be there.
Premlatha touched his arm, "Oh, what rubbish! How can you even think like that, Son? You are Milind and Prachi's friend and that makes you a part of our family too. Now I want you to enjoy this evening. Okay", she smiled at him.
Awwwwww, she is really so sweet! He decided he really, really liked her now. Bending closer to her, he kissed her cheek, "Thank you so much, Aunty" he said. Though startled for a minute, Premlatha smiled back at his genuinely happy face and pulled him back to the chat table. He forgot everything else as Premlatha involved him in easy conversation with the other young men serving food and Micky had a wonderful time. He watched Premlatha in awe as she moved around, enquiring after everyone with a beautiful smile. She was indeed a very warm, kind and a beautiful woman.
It was a long time later that Micky walked back into the lounge. He was stuffed with food and happy. He giggled happily at the jokes and admired the extensive mehndi designs on Prachi's hands. The other girls have also taken turns to apply mehndi and eat dinner. Inder walked in with a plate of food, "Bua, Prachi ko khila dena. Bahut der ho gayi hai", he smiled at his daughter.
Micky followed him as he walked out back to the garden. "Mr. Shah", he called softly and Inder turned to him annoyed.
Micky gave a sad smile, "Your wife is a wonderful person. You are a very lucky man, Mr. Shah", he said.
Inder looked at him, surprised. Slowly he smiled at him, "I am indeed, Micky. There is a time in everyone's life when they meet that one person for whom they had waited all along, searched all their life. My search ended the day Premlatha came into my life. Milind's did when Prachi came into his life. Your search will end too……one day. One day you will meet the one who is meant for you. Good luck, young man", he patted his shoulder and walked away.
Micky stood there for a long time, Inder's words ringing in his mind. With a smile, he picked up his phone and dialled Milind's number. It was time to go back.
Milind was waiting for him at the hotel along with Sally when he got back. Waving the girls off to their rooms, he smiled on seeing the worried looks on his friends' faces. "Relax guys. I am fine", he gave them a brilliant smile.
Milind put his arm around his shoulder, "Are you sure, Micky? Did anyone say anything to you?" he asked still worried about his friend.
Laughing huskily, Micky hugged him, "No dude. Would anyone dare?" Seeing Milind relax, he slapped his back, "Your in-laws are fantastic people, Milind and I mean it" he said.
Milind smiled. He can see that Micky was back to normal. "I know, mate. Well, its time for me to go home. Mom and Dad would be waiting. See you guys tomorrow", he waved and walked away.
Sally who had been silent all along, touched his shoulder, "Into your room, Micky", she ordered and obediently Micky walked with her. Pouring whiskey into two glasses, she handed one to him and sipped the other, "Alright, sister. Tell me what happened".
And Micky did. He told her everything that happened from the minute he walked into the Shah house.
When he finished, Sally smiled, "Your Mr.Shah was right, Micky. You will meet someone, someday. Prachi's father was a bit too old for you anyway", she said and Micky laughed.
"He still is a very sexy man, Sal. He looked sooooo yummy today. I haven't got over him yet", he sighed.
Sally burst out laughing, "There ….There. Now that sounds like you. You did sound very matured and grown up a while ago and I was really worried", she said.
Micky grinned, "I almost sound grown up when I am heartbroken, Sal. But that doesn't stay for long. My broken heart mends very easily. Moreover, Indian guys do look hot, girl. I am so looking forward to the wedding", he giggled and winked at her.
Sally rolled her eyes, "Beware, the man-eater is on the prowl" she teased making him giggle more.
Walking to the balcony, she stood their looking into the night. "Tell me more, Micky. How was that Praachi?" she said nastily.
Micky smiled, "Aw, she looked amazing, Sal. You should have seen the sparkle in her eyes. It would have lit up the whole room. She looked so happy", he said fondly.
Sally sniggered, "Oh yeah, why wouldn't she be happy? She would be Mrs. Mishra very soon", she bit out harshly.
Micky put his arm around her, "I know you don't like her, Sal. But she is a very nice girl. Don't let your bitterness show, Sal. It will only hurt Milind", he said gently.
Sally leaned against him, "I will never hurt him, Micky" she said simply.
Micky kissed her head, "Honey, I know you won't mean to but in the end he would be the one to get hurt. Don't forget that. Don't cause any trouble between them, Sal", he said.
Sally closed her eyes, "Prachi will never be able to handle him. I don't trust her, Micky. She will only hurt Milind. If and when he needs me, I will always be there for him" she said softly.
Micky's hand pressed on her shoulder reassuringly, "Time will tell, Sal" he said simply.
Sally looked up at him, "Just one more day to go, Micky. Then he will become hers" she said, her eyes wild with emotions.
Micky blinked his tears away and cupped her face, "He is already hers, Sal. Accept it, honey" he said gently.
Sally's face looked pained and then she broke down, sobbing in his arms and Micky held her close, his best friend's pain ripping his heart apart.
The mehndi function had gone on till late in the night and by the time, Prachi went to bed; she was tired but very happy. Her hands and feet were beautifully adorned with mehndi and its divine smell filled the room. She remembered Milind's words in Ooty. He had said how much he loved the smell of it. She missed him so much but was feeling way too shy to call him. She lay down in her bed and closed her eyes. Her eyelids fluttered open slightly as the bright moon light fell on her face through the open windows. A shy smile lit her face and her last thought before sleep engulfed her was that her wedding night would be a full moon night……….just like that night in Ooty.
Milind had just walked out of the shower the next morning, when his phone beeped. There was a message from Prachi. "I have proof for the depth of your love" It read.
Milind smiled. So, her mehndi has a darker colour……..as expected. His love had only grown stronger and deeper day by day and the colour of her mehndi would indeed be dark, he thought to himself with a content smile. "As expected! Can I call you?" he typed back.
"Don't" came the prompt text reply.
His eyebrows rose, "Won't you talk to me?" he typed.
"No" was the reply.
Surprised, he typed again, "Why?"
Prachi texted back immediately, "Too shy…..giggle, giggle…".
Milind burst out laughing. Oh dear, that doesn't sound good. "Just one more day, sweetheart! Then, I will strip off every bit of your shyness. Be prepared" he typed.
There was a long pause and then he got the reply, "Chiiiiiiiiii, besharam. Over and out………..tongue……" It said.
Milind laughed heartily. This sweet and spicy cherry girl would be his wife in a day; he thought happily and sighed as he heard his mother call him. Oh no!, he wondered what all they had planned to do to him today. Only the day before, his mother literally chased him with a bowl of mehndi and he ran around the house, shouting, threatening and at last begging her to spare him. Vicky was no help as he kept urging her to carry out every wedding ritual and cleverly escaped everytime Milind tried to kick him. Atlast after Anand and Rakesh's interference, his mom placed a miniscule dot on his little finger. Even then Milind made a big show of how much he hated it and also managed to wash it off in less than an hour. The colour wasn't very dark but still visible and he was even contemplating using a concealor to stop Prachi from spotting it. God knows what awaited him today! Sighing again, he rushed to get ready.
The Shah's had organised a small garba at their house in the evening. Initially, Inder had wanted to organise a grand one at the wedding hall and involve both the families but the Mishras had refused. So, he had settled for a small one at the terrace of his house. The youngsters had completely taken over the evening. Prachi glowed in a turquoise coloured ghagra choli and danced happily with the girls. The glow on her face and the happiness in her eyes added an extra spring to her steps. There wasn't a single person who hadn't exclaimed how beautiful she looked and her parents beamed with pride. Neev had also joined the other young men in the fun and as the night grew on, there were quite a few pairs of eyes that made contact with each other, shied away, searched, found each others and shied away again. There was love and happiness in the air and faces glowed and hearts lifted. The elders remembered their own golden days and blessed the younger ones. Dinner was served after the final aarthi. Prachi was taken back to her room crowded by her friends and cousins. The teasings and comments were full fledged and Prachi blushed and blushed. Behind the closed door the talks were mainly about the wedding night and the honeymoon and Prachi struggled to answer their questions. For the girls, there was no need for an answer as Prachi's face was a dead give away and they only teased her more. Prachi ran into the bathroom to get changed, taking a few minutes to compose herself. The minute she stepped out, they crowded on her again, making her sit on the bed. One of the girls covered her head with a dupatta pulling it down to cover her face like a ghoonghat and another one of her cousin enacted the wedding night scene, pretending to be Milind. The girls howled in laughter around her and Prachi's face was beetroot red when her cousin lifted up the ghoonghat and she buried her face in her hands, helpless and too shy. The girls found the most sensous of movie songs to sing and dance around her and Prachi buried her burning face in Lisa's shoulder begging them to stop.
It was after a very long time that the house fell quiet and Prachi welcomed the calm. She walked down slowly towards the kitchen. Happy to find her mother alone, she hugged her from behind. "Mama, I am hungry", she said softly.
"You didn't eat much at dinner time, Prachi. Let me get a plate for you. Just sit here and eat", Premlatha said gently, touching her daughter's head. It was the last night for Prachi at her maternal home. The next day was her wedding day and they would leave for the function hall in the morning itself. There were other rituals to be performed before the bharaatis arrive. The reception will be in the evening followed by the wedding close to midnight which will finish only early in the morning. And later that morning would be Prachi's bidaai. Her eyes filled with tears and she struggled to hide it from her daughter. Just as she laid a plate for Prachi, Nihaarika walked in.
"Premlatha, Neev hasn't had his dinner yet. He is cleaning up in the terrace all on his own and refuses to come down. You know how he can't tolerate hunger. Will you call him please?" she said worriedly.
"Don't worry, Niharika. He won't refuse if I call him. Give me a minute" said Premlatha and handed the plate to Prachi.
Prachi held her mother's hand, "Mama, I will take some food for Neev. I have to see him" she said softly and looked at Niharika pleadingly.
Sudden anger flashed in Niharika's eyes and then softened immediately. She sighed, "You are right, Prachi. Take it, beta" she touched her head and smiled. Adding more food to the plate she was carrying, Prachi walked upstairs.
Neev was folding the carpets away. His tummy rumbled loudly. Oh he was hungry but he didn't want to eat. He was afraid that he wouldn't be able to swallow anything and just choke. Death would indeed be more welcome than this, he smiled ruefully. He had managed all these days, joining in the preparations, working too hard so he could just go to sleep the minute his head touched the pillow every time and it had worked. But tonight, it was different. It was the last night. His childhood friend, the girl with whom he had spent most of his life till date,…. Prachi shah…. would become Prachi Milind Mishra tomorrow. She will become someone's wife… a new identity…..a new life…….so far away from him. He was practical enough to realise that their friendship will not be the same anymore. He won't be able to steal food from her plate anymore, pull her hair in anger anymore, just walk into her bedroom and pull the covers off her, demanding her to get up anymore, sit on the stairs and talk about his future plans and dreams, about movies and girls. Everything would come to an end. Tears pricked his eyes and he sat down, too tired.
"Neev", Prachi called softly and startled he looked up to see her walking towards him with a plate of food.
Wiping his eyes quickly, he smiled at her, "I don't want to eat anything, Prachi. I am not hungry", he said.
Smiling, Prachi sat down next to him and placed the dinner plate in front of him. "You know your ears turn red whenever you lie. That how I always caught you every time you lied", she said softly and proceeded to uncover the plate.
Neev looked at her surprised, "I never knew" he said softly.
"And I don't know why I told you now. It was my well kept secret", Prachi said softly. "Eat, Neev. I know you are starving" she said again, pushing the plate closer to him.
With a sigh, Neev started to eat. He had just taken a bite, when she said, "I am hungry too", her voice was so soft.
Neev frowned, "Hey, I am sorry. Here, let me keep some food in the other plate. I touched only the dal; you can take the other curries. All the others are clean", he said quickly.
Prachi stopped him as he proceeded to pick up a roti for her. Neev watched in surprise as she proceeded to share the roti from his plate, eating it with the dal. The cleanliness freak Prachi Shah was sharing food from his plate, Neev stared in disbelief. He sighed as he watched a tear roll down her cheek, "Prachi…….", he called softly.
A sob escaped Prachi and she brushed her tears away, "Eat", she ordered again and wiping his own tears, Neev obeyed and they finished their dinner together in silence.
Washing their hands, they sat next to eachother. "Was that the last meal together, Prachi?" Neev asked her, his voice thick.
Prachi's hand held his, "Don't say that, Neev. It need not be the last one. We are friends and we will always be. Why should my getting married change things between us?" she asked softly.
Neev smiled, "Imagine me sitting at Milind's dining table and sharing a plate of food with you. Will he not kick me out?" he asked.
Prachi smiled, "He is not that bad, Neev" she said but knew that Milind might do exactly that. She knew how possessive he could get. They looked at eachother and Prachi's eyes filled up, "Will you forgive me, Neev?" she asked softly.
"There is nothing to forgive, Prachi. I never blamed you for anything", Neev wiped her tears.
"I am so scared, Neev. It will be a new life, among new people, new relations. I don't want to leave Mama and Papa", she sobbed.
"That's why you should have married me", Neev said promptly startling her. "Then you would never have to leave your parents. I would have happily become their ghar jamai and had Ma's kheer every day of my life", he smiled and patted his stomach dreamily.
Feigning anger, Prachi hit him, "Pettu Ram! For the sake of you and your ever hungry stomach, you wanted me to marry you. I am better off not marrying you", she laughed.
Neev gave a sad smile, "You know that is not the only reason, Prachi" he said softly.
Prachi's smile dimmed and slowly she nodded, "Yes, I know" she said softly.
Neev squeezed her hand, "Believe me when I say this, Prachi. I am very happy for you and wish you and Milind all the happiness in this world" he said gently.
Prachi nodded, "Neev, Milind became my friend even before I fell in love with him. I can tell him almost everything. But not even he would take your place. You hold a very important place in my life, Neev. You are the best friend I could have ever asked for. You were always there whenever I needed you and here you are now. Thank you, Neev. Thank you for everything. I might go far away from you and a lot of things might change but this friendship and trust we have would never change. I give you my word, Neev. I will always be the same Prachi, your friend", her voice broke as she sobbed.
Unmindful of the tears streaming down his face, Neev hugged her, "I know, Prachi. And you can always count on me, today and forever".
They sat talking for a long time before Neev chided her, "We should go down, Prachi. I don't want you to fall sick on your big day. Milind will kick me for being a lousy friend. I want you to look your best tomorrow, my friend. I want you to dazzle the living daylights out of Milind. He looked absolutely dazzled during your engagement and I can't wait to see how he would look tomorrow. The mighty Milind Mishra goes all lovesick at the very sight of you", he laughed and laughing, Prachi hit him.
Prachi felt light and relieved when she finally went to bed. Sleep came easily that night.
Milind fell on his bed with a sigh. He was let off early that night but Vicky was still busy with their parents. Milind was kept busy after the haldi function with one or the other ritual that his mom and his mausi kept coming up with. Weddings are hardwork, he thought to himself, especially the ones like his with every Indian custom. He could imagine how busy Prachi would have been. After sharing the bed with Vicky for two nights, tonight it suddenly felt very spacious. And there was no more lakshman rekha tonight, he grinned at the thought. It had effectively kept them apart for two nights. Vicky hadn't kicked him and he hadn't cuddled Vicky. He laughed softly. The built of Vicky's body was similar to his own and cuddling Vicky would have felt like hugging himself and that would have been so gross, he chuckled at his thoughts. Tonight was the last and from the next day, he would be sharing his life, his bed and his every breath with his wife…all his life. He smiled happily and frowned as he heard a scratching down on his door. He lept out of the bed and quickly opened the door. His eyebrows rose in surprise as Brute brushed past him and quietly climbed on to his bed and lay down. He looked at him for a full minute and with a resigned sigh, closed the door and fell back on the bed.
Brute inched closer to him slowly and with a smile, Milind rubbed softly behind his ears. "What is it, mate? Are you feeling possessive or left out?" he asked softly.
In response, Brute only moved even closer to him. Milind laughed, "Both, I guess" he said and kept stroking his fur and Brute closed his eyes contently. "Sorry, Brute. You will not come with us to the function hall, tomorrow", he said and Brute gave an angry, disapproving bark.
"Hey, calm down, boy. Mom did let you in almost every function at home. Agree that she kept you away from the puja place but that was to be expected, mate. Don't complain now", he said sternly and Brute whimpered. Milind stroked him again, "And imagine how ballistic your friend Mr. Inder Shah would go if you turn up along with the baaraatis. He might kick me out along with you and I am not taking any such risks. I will bring home Prachi later that day and you can meet her. Happy" he asked him. "You do like Prachi very much, don't you?" he asked again and Brute gave an angry bark again. "Hey, now that's too possessive. We will still be the best buddies, mate. She will be my wife and she adores you. So, you will have two of us spoiling you rotten", he pacified an angry and sulking Brute.
Brute calmed down and started licking his hand as if making up for his behaviour. Milind laughed, "Alright, boy. All forgiven! Now behave well tomorrow. Mom has made sure that someone feeds you time to time. We will be home soon", he said and Brute lay down contently close to his master. Feeling his soft warm body close to his, Milind remembered the way Prachi wound him up about the guy in her bed and laughed softly. "You still remember the deal, don't you, Brute? Don't try getting into my wife's bed. I would be the only one to share it. Am I clear?" he warned. Brute gave a whimper and closed his eyes. With a smile, Milind moved closer to him and slowly fell asleep.
The morning of the wedding day dawned bright and sunny. The sun broke through the scattered clouds filling the earth with its golden hue. Both Milind and Prachi stirred as the first rays fell on their faces. Their eyes fluttered open to the dazzling blue sky and they smiled, their hearts lifting up with joy. Dreams would come true today and a lot of promises would be made. And they both would keep every one of their promises…….today, tomorrow and every other day……till their last breath.
