Telly divas step to Bollywood this year

Year 2008 proved really lucky for some of our telly stars, who jumped straight from the small screen to the big screen and got rave reviews. This list includes Prachi Desai (Rock On) and Rajeev Khandelwal (Aamir).

This year too, many stars plan to try their luck on the silver screen. We take a look at the small screen actresses who are looking to strike gold at the box office this year.

Aamna Shariff: Popularly know as Kashish of Kahin toh Hoga (Star Plus), the actress is set to make a mark in the big screen with her upcoming movie Aloo Chaat. She gained enough name and fame through her show but soon decided to quit in search of bigger things. She will be seen romancing Aftab Shivdasani in Mavericks Productions' Aloo Chaat, which is set to release by March.

Mona Singh: After the success of Jassi (Sony TV), small screen star Mona Singh will be seen on the big screen in Rajkumar Hirani's 3 idiots where she will be seen playing Kareena's sister. On the small screen, the actress has done many shows such as Jhalak Dikhlaja 1&2, Ek Khiladi Ek Hasina and Radha Ki Betiyaan Kuch Kar Dikhayengi. She is busy shooting for her debut movie which will hit the theaters by the year end.

Sanjeeda Sheikh: This lady, who debuted as Nimmo in Kya Hoga Nimmo Ka (Star One) two years ago and is currently seen in Kayamath (Star Plus), will be seen in a Bollywood movie this year. Pankh, produced by Sanjay Gupta & Rohit Roy, will show Sanjeeda sharing screen space with Bipasha Basu. Sanjeeda will be seen portraying the role of an aspiring actress. Wrapped up with the shooting, the movie is ready to release.

Parakh Madan: Currently seen as a cop in Monica Mogre Case Files (Zee TV), Madan is aiming high. From cop to bombshell, the actress is seen spreading her atyachaar in the form of third lead (opposite Abhay Deol) in Anurag Kashyap's Dev D, which released this week.

Shweta Agarwal: Shweta, who was seen as one of the leads in Dekho Magar Pyaar Se (Star Plus), started to take big steps towards the silver screen three years ago when she signed non-Bollywood movies. She was seen in a Turkish and a German film and now she will soon be seen in Vikram Bhatt's Shrapit as the lead actress paired opposite Aditya Narayan. They haven't started shooting yet; hence the date of release is not finalised.
