I have finally completed this story. Tho not as i had planned on intended... but its better that i tell the whole story than leave it incomplete. So here is the whole story of Rishtey.

Before i go forward, i'll give you all a summary of the whole FF since many probably don't remember a lot of it.

Story So Far|
This story began showing the members of the Shah family and their relationships with each other, many (or most) not in the best of shapes. Prachi was kept mostly to herself and busied herself by taking care of a little boy named Ritwik. Ayesha and Neev were carrying the burden of a marriage for namesake. Alaap had been unofficially kicked out of the house by PL and lived with his uncle in Delhi. Bobby was studying for Medicine in U.S. and was there along with his cousin, Anjali who was Inder's brother's daughter. Soumya lived with her husband, Vishal and his family in Delhi. Ayesha's mother lived in Shah mansion and was taken good care of by PL. Suyesha lived in a mental asylum after the shock of seeing her father commit suicide after knowing the depth of her affair with Alaap and Milind was a big hotel owner in Turkey who worked and worked with the intention of becoming bigger than Inder Shah one day.

Milind's return to India brings unrest in the Shah family. He seeks custody of Ritwik but Prachi wants to fight back. To find a solution, Ayesha suggests their marriage and both of them agree. PL is surprised by Prachi's decision and brings back Anjali who is the only person who could get through to Prachi to talk her out of it. But Prachi reveals that she is marrying Milind because she has always loved him and only him. Milind who has no knowlege of Prachi's feelings marries her but intends to hurt her. Instead he ends up slowly appreciating her as she helps his sister come back to better health and slowly falls for her. However, Prachi hides a secret that compels her to keep Milind away from her.

Meanwhile, Ayesha and Neev decide to get a divorce because neither of them had wanted this marriage. Neev had married Ayesha because he needed money to save his father's life and Ayesha had married him to take revenge on him and his mother. But now both felt their was no longer a need to continue a relationship that gave them nothing, not even the satisfaction of revenge. Anjali who sees the potential they have to be good life partners creates situations in which they better understand each other and come closer. By the time the divorce proceedings start, Neev and Ayesha decide to give a real try to their marriage and find happiness in each other. Their relationship is further strengthened after Ayesha tells Neev that they are having a baby soon.

During this time, Anjali sets out in search of her lost twin sister. She gets clues from Kavya, who is Milind's business partner and had come to Prachi and Milind's wedding. But she goes there only to find out that her long lost sister is now dead. She hurries home but is met with an accident and ends up living with Kavya for the next several months, during which they both become an emotional support system for each other. Anjali falls hard for Kavya but Kavya is reluctant as he had once loved Anjali's sister and he considers his feelings for Anjali to be due to the resemblance she has to her sister.

Alaap who is on the verge of remorse comes home for his father's death anniversary and after a confrontation with Prachi decides to change his ways. He seeks forgiveness from Sukriti who had regained her mental balance and wants to make things right. However a misunderstanding causes Milind and Sukriti to think he is scheming against them again and Prachi is involved in it. Milind tells Prachi to get out of his house in anger. However, at that same time Soumya who was pregnant and had come home for delivery starts to get labor pains and everyone takes her to the hospital. The birth of a pre-term baby and Soumya's death on the same day leaves everyone devastated and Milind continues to put up a farce so that the family does not know that he intended to break his marriage with Prachi. Alaap who is in deep financial trouble finds the only solution to all his problems in Suyesha, the mentally challenged daughter of a rich politician in Delhi. He marrys her for money further making his family and Milind/Sukriti believe that he has not and will never change his ways.

Anjali goes to Kavya's family in Shimla and reconciles him with his family and returns home just in time to participate in Soumya's funeral and Alaap's wedding soon after. Milind who realizes that he had started to love Prachi suspects that she returned his feelings however after an encounter with Prachi in Shah mansion he feels his suspicions grow that the woman he once loved in his past, without knowing her identity, is none other than Prachi. He had earlier mistaken her to be Anjali but now he felt confused and to clear his confusion he talks to Anjali about it. Anjali understands what had happened and both try to get Prachi to confess her feelings.

Sukriti who after becoming normal had sought to establish a better relationship with her son, was helped by Prachi. Prachi distanced herself from Ritwik slowly, pushing him towards Sukriti for all his needs. During this time Sukriti finds out the many health issues Ritwik had and the extent Prachi went to ensure his safety. Any misunderstanding Sukriti had about Prachi is cleared though she still hated Alaap. After Soumya's death Sukriti finds herself respecting Vishaal for his immense love towards a dead wife and compares that to men like Alaap who only know deceit. The respect she feels soon turns into a light friendship as she often visits Sayaah (Soumya's daughter).

At this time on Ritwik's birthday, Prachi finally is cornered and forced to confess that she loves Milind but she also reveals the reason why she kept away from him, as she is dying. Both Milind and Anjali and shocked and in disbelief. However, they barely get time to cope with this news as they head home to find out that Vishaal and Sayaah have left Mumbai for Delhi after the shocking incident where Suyesha tried to kill the little baby. Everyone is further perplexed with Ritwik's contradictory behavior after watching Suyesha strangle the baby and yet speaking to her as if she is his best friend.

The rest of the story.............

Driving home from Panvel, Neev gets a call while he is still in the car and after dropping off Ayesha and Anjali he heads out without waiting to tell anyone anything.
Anjali comes home to surprise visitors from Shimla, who are Kavya's brother Shlok and cousin Shourya. They give an invitation card to Anjali telling her that Kavya is getting married to his childhood friend Pammy. Before Anjali has a chance to react she realizes her lies to PL while she was in Shimla have been caught and now PL is in no mood to speak to her. She is feels lost and broken as in one day, she gets the news of loosing her best friend, the love of her life, and now her mother like aunt. She is consoled by Prachi but it is of no good use. Anjali is thus affected that she starts to imagine Soumya's ghost in her room.. and ghost that refuses to go away and ends up talking to the ghost while others think she is talking to herself.

Milind tells Prachi that since she had spent so many years away from him, leaving him in misery now it was her duty to live the rest of her days with him in happiness. She agrees to go back home with him on the sole condition that he would not try to take her to doctors for treatment and they would live their life everyday like there was no tomorrow. He promises, and also promises to fulfil every and any desire of her heart, big or small.

The next day, PL reveals the reason she didn't want Anjali to ever go to Shimla. PL holds herself responsible for Anjum (Anjali's sister) getting lost. Anjali and Anjum's parents had died in a car accident and Inder and PL had gone to take custody of the kids but it was during troubled times where riots were happening in full force on the streets and it was during this time that in her attempt to hold onto Prachi and Anjali together she had not held onto Anjum tightly enough and she had gotten lost. After many searches they had not been able to find the girl and since then PL and Prachi both blamed themselves for Anjum's loss and did everything possible to make life better for Anjali. Anjali who is glad that PL does not hold her lies against her, tells PL that she has nothing to be seeking forgiveness for as Anjali never held her responsible for what happened.

Ayesha who is distressed since Neev didn't return all night finally breathes a sigh as he comes back in the morning. However, she senses something off about him but doesn't question thinking that he is stressed due to work. Once the whole family is together, they decide that its best to give treatment to Suyesha while she is home instead of putting her in an institution. PL receives a call after which her gloomy mood sets right and she shares the news with the rest of the family leaving only Anjali. Prachi and Neev then cheer Anjali up trying to distract her mind from thinking about Kavya and his marriage. Anjali finally decides to put her mind at work towards convincing Prachi to seek expert opinions on her illness and also clarifying the confusion he had regarding Ritwik's strange behavior since the incident with Saayah.

Two weeks later, the Shah family gathers together at Milind's new Hotel and Anjali gets yet another shock as Kavya gets on his knees and proposes to her in front of a crowd of hundreds. She finally accepts the ring after realizing that Shlok and Sourya had played a prank on her but never expected her to fall for it and apologized for the damage it may have done. An overwhelmed Anjali can't control her tears and runs to solitude where she lets out her emotions for the first time. Prachi who runs after her stops mid way when she sees that Anjali feels completely comfortable letting her tears dissolve into Kavya. Returning to Milind, she realizes finally how much she has missed in the time she spent away from him. They both slip away from the party unnoticed to a world of their own where they share their little sorrows and joys as the waves kiss their feet while they sat on the rocks looking out at the sunset, completely in peace. That night becomes the night of passion for Milind and Prachi as they become Michi, one with each other, without any cares or concerns for the rest of the world, without hesitations, and only with immeasurable longing to be with each other.

Days pass by and though Anjali is looking forward to her wedding, something keeps her distracted. She realizes that whatever her distraction is, has to do with Soumya as she keeps seeing Soumya's ghost. She realizes it must be that Saayah was taken away from Soumya's family, and the house that Soumya grew up in and maybe that is what is causing Soumya's unrest. She tries to contact Vishaal who surprises her by his knowledge of the fact that Suyesha is under treatment for her condition and the psychiatrist is none other than Shourya's (Kavya's cousin) fiancee, Meera. Upon questioning Anjali finds out that Sukriti had updated him on all the events in Mumbai as she called almost everyday to ask about Sayaah since Ritwik was so attached to her. This turns the wheels to bring Vishaal's alliance for Sukriti. Vishaal and Sukriti both realize that their's would be a relationship of friendship and mutual respect more than that of a husband and wife but that is what both seek so they agree to get married for the sake of their children. Sukriti trusted Vishaal to be a good father and Vishaal trusted Sukriti to provide the love that Sayaah needed. Sukriti's past is not revealed to Vishaal's parents on his request as they come from highly orthodox traditions and would not accept Sukriti as their daughter-in-law. Milind understand that Vishaal knew the whole truth and would always stand by his sister and agrees to their marriage. They get married in court without any hype and Milind finally feels content that his sister has a better future ahead of her.

Meanwhile, Neev increasingly starts to act distant from Ayesha which starts to bother her. She wonders what happened to her ever attentive husband and if work has become so much more important to him than his wife and child. She decides to find out what exactly was eating up her husband's time and as she feared finds out that Neev has not really been spending his time at work. She catches him lying many times but does not reveal to him her knowledge of his lies and instead stops asking him questions. She spends her days cooped up in her room not bothering to interact with anyone. She feels suffocated in the environment of happiness that was there in Shah mansion due to Anjali's wedding preparations, and then with Sukriti's marriage too. She doesn't reveal her sorrow to anyone as she finds no one to care.. and the man she thought of sharing her every happiness and sorrow with had become the source of her woes. Things become so bad between them that some days they hardly see each other. Ayesha decides that she would focus on her unborn child... well ACTUALLY.. her unborn children.. as she was carrying twins but never got a chance to tell her husband about it since he was so busy. And she would confront Neev only after the child was born. Part of her decision was the fact that she had just seen PL starting to smile again due to Anjali's wedding and didn't want to ruin this time of happiness that had returned to the family after so many horrible events.

On such an occasion when PL and Anjali had gone shopping for the wedding, Ayesha starts to feels labor pains. She stays in her room but tries to call PL however, cannot get through to her. She waits to see if the labor is for real as she had had a false alarm before. But her wait becomes a little too long and she gets a position where she doesn't feel like she could walk out of her room let alone to the hospital. She does her best to get anyone's attention but the only one who walks by her room is her mother. Her ill mother, though sees her in pain, does not understand the gravity and walks away murmuring how men are the cause of all pains. Ayesha finally calls Neev's cell phone for the first time in months and yet again is received by a machine. In her agony she screams in the phone that he may never get to see her or their children for the last time if he doesn't come back to her. As Ayesha hangs up the door opens to Ayesha's worst nightmare. Suyesha runs inside to Ayesha's side and asks a whole bunch of questions but Ayesha doesn't answer any, simply because she was too scared, anxious and exhausted to realize that Suyesha was speaking like a normal adult would in this situation. Thinking that Ayesha had fallen unconcious, Suyesha runs to get Alaap and drags him to Ayesha's room, orders him to take Ayesha to the hospital asap. Alaap is too stunned as he realizes that the mentally challenged girl who lived with him all these months is gone and in her place is a woman who is completely in her senses. But Ayesha's condition was critical and he ends up carrying her down the stairs with Suyesha's help. During this time both Alaap and Ayesha meet each other's eyes and realize how time had changed both of them from what they were 6 years ago and what they have become today. Finally when Ayesha is in the car and Suyesha climbs in next to her and starts timing her contractions, does Ayesha fully realize the change in Suyesha and looks at her with new interest. Knowing exactly what Ayesha and Alaap are thinking, Suyesha chooses to ignore their stares and tells Alaap to drive faster. As Alaap and Suyesha wait for the good news, Suyesha tells him the story of her life.

Suyesha apologizes for what she put him through for the past several months of their marriage. She tells him her past where she was in love with a guy during college and her father didn't approve of it. Realizing that she would give up her family and wealth for this guy, her father tricked her into leaving on a trip while he "Dealt" with her boyfriend. Suyesha returned to find no trace of Dhruv. She could not assume he had ditched her so when she found herself pregnant she decided to keep the child. However, she had a miscarriage but found out soon enough that it was not an accident but a act by her father. She also found out what her father did to Dhruv and decided to give up her life at that point. But being in a hospital, she was saved but to realize that somewhere her apparently heartless father cared deeply for her welfare. So she decided to play mentally retarded so her father would suffer every day seeing his precious daughter in the state that she was in as punishment for taking away love from her life. She had never expected anyone would marry a mentally challenged girl but realized that if anyone did it would only be for her father's money. That is the reason she humiliated and tortured Alaap, thinking that no matter how much money her father offered, Alaap would soon get fed up of her antics and send her back. However, she slowly realized the extent of Alaap's patience and that he needed the money not for greed but for saving his father's lifetime of work. That is what started the change in her as she slowly started to love her husband. The hardest thing to believe in this whole story was that Suyesha was pretending this whole time. Alaap asked her how she could have been pretending when she had tried to kill an infant right in front of his eyes. Suyesha paused before answering and then told him the truth about what had happened. Everyone had come in hearing Ritwik scream and misunderstood what they saw. Suyesha had only been trying to save Saayah's life. Ritwik who had wanted to give Sayaah choclates for his birthday and had put a large piece in Saayah's mouth when PL had not been watching. Saayah had been chocking on it and Suyesha, who was a medical student in college was giving CPR to the little girl. Just as everyone had come in hearing Ritwik cry, the choclate had dislodged, and Suyesha had held Saayah's mouth open by holding her jaw to take out the choclate from her mouth. But those who saw it figured that she had been strangling Saayah. But knowing that telling the truth in front of everyone at that point would have meant that she would have no place in the Shah family anymore, for all the drama she did, for her past with another man. She continued her act till she realized that Alaap too had a past and that Ritwik was actually his child and that even though he considered her to be crazy, somewhere in his heart there was a special place for her.

Just as Alaap processed all this information, the door opened and two nurses came out with tiny bundles with them. One handed her bundle to Alaap and asked, "You are Ayesha' brother right.. " He stared at the nurse before he stuttered a "yes". Then he looked at the wrinkled face staring him with eyes wide open eyes as if asking who he was. "Main tera mama hoon...Alaap mama" he smiled as the baby still stared at him as if trying to recognize him. "Is her husband not here yet?" one nurse asked and Alaap came out of the world of little eyes of wonder. He handed the child back to the nurse regretfully and so did Suyesha who was holding the other twin. "He should be here soon" Suyesha answered for him and they both realized they had not informed any of the family members. After Alaap's call, the whole family came to see the kids including Neev who had reached home as soon as he had gotten the message. He had been frantic till he received Alaap's call. When he finally gets to the hospital Ayesha forbids him to see the kids. She takes out months of rage on him and he realizes that he had not even noticed how far she had gone from him. He explains the reason for all his lies to be Purvi, his sister. Purvi who had taken to a modeling career in London after wasting much of Ayesha's money for medical school, had gotten involved with the wrong crowd and had been deported back to India as a drug addict. Neev's parents had called him the night they had come back from Panvel and had asked him to promise not to tell Ayesha about Purvi. Neev's mother, who knew nothing of the changes in Ayesha, and didn't even realize that she would soon become a grandmother, had thought Ayesha would use this opportunity to settle old scores too. Neev on the other hand wanted Ayesha to remain worry free and happy while he took full responsibility of Purvi. However, he had been a fool to not realize that she would sense the slightest change in him. And he had been too distracted to notice that he had drifted away from the one woman who was his world. There was no excuse for it. And Ayesha made sure he knew how stupid he had been to keep her away from his problems. But eventually, they kiss and make up. Neev gives Ayesha a gift by handing her agreement papers on the biggest project that their company had ever undertaken, a project that would land them in the international league. He reminds her the promise he made to take excellent care of their company and tells her that he will fulfill every promise he has ever made to her. Ayesha in return promises to be civil to her mother-in-law from now on and allow her to visit the grandkids whenever she wishes.

On this happy occasion, Prachi shares with Milind her deep set desire to have a child of her own to love. She feels that emptiness which once was filled by Ritwik. But she also realizes how cruel it would be since she couldn't even guarantee that she would live long enough to bring such a child into this world. And even if she did that child would live motherless. Though Prachi abandoned that idea, Milind who had promised to fulfill her every desire, decides to find a way to make it possible. The next day he takes Prachi to an orphanage and talks to her about adoption. Though Prachi enjoys spending her time with the kids, she refuses to adopt as the process would take too long and again she didn't want to bring a child home bribing him with the love of both parents only to have one be gone soon after. However, Prachi decides to return to the orphanage and spend her time there teaching the older kids music. Milind is happy that Prachi doesn't talk about having her own child anymore but feels it necessary to give her that option. Though he promised Prachi he would not try to get her treatment, he talks with Anjali who assures him that she was already doing everything she could to figure out a solution for Prachi. Milind passes on Prachi's medical file to Anjali who then thinks of Bobby. She speaks to Bobby on the phone and reveals to him about Prachi's condition. She sends the documents over to him and after a few days he returns with the request to bring Prachi to the U.S. Milind takes Prachi to the U.S. on pretext of a business tour but once there Prachi is convinced by Bobby and Milind together to atleast get some preliminary testing done. Prachi agrees after some effort and they wait for the results. Meanwhile Milind starts to feel hopeful about finding a cure and Prachi is that much more distressed about having been tricked to come for treatment. She sees that Milind is getting hopeful and reminds him to be realistic. The results come back to surprise them all except for Bobby who had suspected this as soon as Anjali had told him about Prachi's diagnosis. He explains to Prachi and Milind that Prachi infact was absolutely healthy and had no trace of the illness she thought she had. He further explains how the initial report with Prachi's name on it actually wasn't Prachi's at all, but most likely belonged to Soumya. Bobby had had his doubts when Soumya died and had studied her post-mortem reports, which indicated intercranial bleeding. They had indicated an aneurysm to be the cause but Bobby had been confused about it since, Soumya's earlier tests never showed an aneurysm in her brain. But after seeing Prachi's report and confirming that Prachi was currently healthy, he was sure that Soumya and Prachi's reports had interchanged somehow. [OK take this with a pinch of salt...or just eat a lot of salt and drink water with it too...i couldn't find a better way to deal with this.]

After receiving this unbelievable news, Milind and Prachi end up having a fight right outside the hospital. Milind is pissed for the number of years that were wasted, and the kind of heartache she caused him, all for nothing. Prachi understands his anger and decides to let him calm down before she talks to him. Milind who was rambling on in anger turns to see her walking away but before he goes to stop her he sees her get hit by an oncoming van. Days later Prachi opens her eyes to find Milind fallen asleep near her bedside, his appearance showing that he must not have gone home in these days. She tries to lift her hand to touch his overgrown beard but her hand feels like its made of bricks. Milind wakes up to see her trying and calls the doctors immediately. Milind stands on the side and watches as the nurse and doctor communicate in medical jibberish. Prachi looks towards him and he looks back and they both new what they were thinking at that moment... that from this moment on, they would spend as many moments that life gives them, together.. because they had gotten a second chance at life.. to be together, not to fight, not to sacrifice, but to love and love only.

I want to end this Story here.. because i think its an apt ending for this kind of narration of the story. However, if had written this story scn by scn, i would have added Anjali's wedding at the very end, when the whole family is together and happy.

OK guys, it was a pleasure to write my first FF and i am so glad i gave it an ending.
