Chp 22

Milind had driven Prachi to the beach on her insistence "Kitney din ho gaye hum beach nahin gaye please ley chaliye mujhey" Its been so long we haven't gone to the beach will you take me there please she had requested and he had immediately consented he had promised her anything she required that evening and was going to fulfill his promise. She had squealed in excitement as they walked on the wet sand having removed her slippers she had left the moist sand soak her feet loving the cool touch the grains blessed to her soft skin. "Prachi beemar ho jaayegi" Prachi you'll get sick Milind had been flustered "Nahin hoti beemar" No I won't she had laughed aloud swinging her slippers in her hands her dimple denting her cheek mesmerizingly. The beach was crowded and as much as Milind had wanted her safe by his side he had restrained himself from imposing restrictions on her he wished her to enjoy the moment as long as it lasted. Taking tentative steps in the cool water she had dipped her feet in it smiling jubilantly causing Milind's smile to grow wider. He wondered how anyone could be so innocent and simple both at the same time his eyes traced her svelte form prominent against the horizon. "Milind" she had turned around calling to him the wind whipping her thick tresses playfully she tucked the strands behind her ears her eyes searching him. He had stepped forward to join her when he was out run by a group of college students probably there for some cheap fun at other people's expense. Finding Prachi alone they had surrounded her while she looked at them through frightened eyes... "Milind" she had called him once again and his pace had increased before any of the students could even move a finger he was by her side. "Chalein" Come he had held out his hand to her which had clasped tightly and he had enveloped her in his strong arms. The college boys had left quite intimidated by Milind's toned abs and pumped biceps that were visible under the thin white shirt that hugged his torso. Prachi stood shivering in his hold and he realized she had been scared out of her wits. He lifted her face to his own to see tears streaming her cheeks "Eyi Prachi darr gayi thi kiya?" Were you scared? he had questioned softly and she had nodded her head vigorously burying her face in his broad chest. "Mujhey akela kyun chora mainey kitna bulaya aapko... aap kyun nahin aaye" Why did you leave me alone... I called out to you still you didn't come .. why? she had inquired and he had tenderly kissed her forehead "Yahin to tha tujhey chor ker kahaan jaunga main" I was here where would I go without you? he had smiled.

Realizing that people were now watching them curiously he had steered her towards a secluded corner hidden by a rock where they sat together on the wet sand hand in hand. She sat close to him her head on his shoulder her hand in his watching the sea spread on for miles on end, a seamless entity. "Kuch khaiyegi Prachi?" Will you have something? he had murmured softly and she had shaken her head in the negative "Nahin bhook nahin" No I'm not hungry she had whispered and he had pulled her to him. Her tears had touched him and her faith in him being her savior had lifted his spirits to new heights. As she gazed on at the deep blue ahead his eyes rested on her he wished he could kiss away the tiny droplets that clung to the corners of her lashes joining them. She looked so vulnerable her arm slid across his chest. In that one moment both had found eternal peace and had wished for their togetherness to last forever. "Milind aapki job sey aap khush to haina" Milind are you happy with your job? she had wanted to know her eyes bright against the setting sun that glowed like a crimson ball in the distance. "Khush huun Prachi buhut khush ab main Baba ka ilaaj kerwa sakunga, ghar ka kharch aasani sey pura ho jaayegi, tujhey roz daal nahin khaani pareygi" I'm extremely happy Prachi now I'll be able to get Baba treated, maintain the house in a better and you won't have to eat lentils everyday he had smiled and she had looked at him intently. "Milind hum abhi eik or jagah jaa saktey hain?" Milind can we go somewhere else too today she had pleaded "Jaanta huun Sunaina sey milney ka mann ker raha hai na" I know you want to meet Sunaina right he had asked and she had gaped at him astounded. "Aap ko kaisey pata chala mujhey Sunaina sey milna tha?" How did you know I wanted to meet her? she had questioned and he had simply smiled again. "Bas kuch baatein bina kahey hii pata chal jaati hain" Well somehow you know some things just like that he had answered and she had lowered her head in guilt. "Kiya hua?" What happened? he had asked "Main aapkey dil kii bat kab jaanungi Milind" When will I learn to know what your heart says she had asked innocuously but that was one question Milind had wanted her to find the answer to soon. "Yeh baat hai" Is that the thing troubling you he had cocked his eyebrows and she had looked at him helplessly "Kiya main aap jitni achi nahin.... main kyun aapkey dil kii baat nahin jaan paati... kisi key bhi dil baat nahin samajh sakti aap kaisey kartey hain yeh bataiye na" Am I not as good as you ... why cannot I understand what your heart says... what anyone's heart says for that matter how do you do it tell me she had sidled closer in eagerness. "Theek hai tuu puuch rahi hai to batana farz hai" Fine I'll tell you he had said "Apni aankhein band ker" Close your eyes he had instructed her taking her hand in his own he had placed it on his revealed chest. Prachi had flinched but Milind had held her hand firmly on the spot where Prachi could feel his heart beat beneath it. "Ab ghor sey sun meri dhadkanein tujhsey kiya keh rahi hain" Now listen carefully to what each heart beat says to you he had whispered in her ear and she had felt herself drown in the steady rhythm of his beating heart his chest fell and rose melodically.

For that particular moment Prachi had simply concentrated on his beating heart the beach had vanished so had the crashing waves all that existed was herself and him she concentrated hard her palm planted firmly in position. All of a sudden she had felt as if each heartbeat had formed its own tune one that sang out her name "Pra chi.. Pra chi... at first it had been relaxed but then it had accelerated till it felt like white noise filling her being with his longing for her "Prachi .. Prachi.. Prachi". Prachi had snapped her eyes open her mind dazed she found Milind staring at her the change in her expression had made him believe she had indeed heard what he had wanted to hear... her name which resounded loud and clear within him. "Sun lii merey dil kii baat?" So heard what what my heart says? he had questioned and in return she had gazed at him perplexed what if her mind was playing tricks on her but if that was the case why did her heart beat like a piston.... why did she feel her hands clammy and wet, why was she shivering. Was this a revelation what was it that she was feeling for him it certainly had surpassed friendship she shook her head to get rid of the mind boggling questions but they would not leave her. Feeling distraught and irritably incomprehensible even to her own self she had stood up "Shayad mujhey yeh kabhi nahin aayega" Maybe I'll never get it she had confided in him but Milind's eyes had gleamed with recognition. "Har cheez pehli baar main to nahin aa jaati waqt lagta hai" You can't learn everything in the first time it requires time he had remarked ambiguously standing up brushing his jeans free of the sand grains. In an attempt to brush of grains from her navy blue salwar kameez Prachi had inadvertantly stepped on her dupatta causing her to jerk and trip landing promptly in Milind's awaiting arms. It was truly a magical moment for them their eyes had met then and Prachi had felt the electrifying current that his touch produced on her skin causing her to shiver yet again why did his touch feel so different lately. Steadying her he had helped her in cleaning up and they had walked slowly to the car park as they neared the crowded area Prachi had absent mindedly slipped her hand in his holding tight on him she felt safe when he was with her. The drive to the orphanage had been silent but Milind had stopped at a stationery shop to purchase a few items and an art kid for the child knowing her love for art. Prachi had helped him choose a few colouring books with animals drawn in them and a good set of pastels with it. "I'm sure she'll like the variation in colours" she had told Milind who had been only too happy to comply. The items bought they had visited Sunaina whose eyes had glowed like hot embers on seeing Milind she had run upto him and he had lifted her small form in his open arms.

She had noticed the bags Prachi held in her hands but was more interested in meeting Milind first. "Kaisi hai meri Sunaina?" How is my Sunaina? he had asked her gently seating her in his lap he tenderly combed her hair and she had leaned against his chest fitting in the crook of his arm. Her contented face made Prachi realize what immense joy Millind had brought to her by just being there with her. Once again Prachi was struck by the unsurmountable understanding Milind nurtured for every one connected to him. Sunaina had kissed Milind on his cheeks beckoning Prachi she had made her sit near them gesturing her to open the packets. Prachi had displayed her gifts and Sunaina had clapped her little hands in amusement she picked up the books immediately clutching them close to her heart she had rested against Milind once again. Milind had then opened the book reading to her the little bits of information on the different animals sketched in them. Prachi had watched fondly and soon all three were deeply engrossed in their activity so much so that Mother Superior had to come in to remind them that it was Sunaina's dinner time and that she must be handed over now. Prachi had tried to give her back but Sunaina had cried silently clutching Milind by the arm and he had requested the vestal if he could feed Sunaina her dinner tonight. She had agreed and soon her dinner of mashed potatoes boiled peas and some rice was brought to Milind. Initially Sunaina had resisted but Milind had lured her to the exercise by telling her a story. "Pata hai Sunaina kitna bara tha sher..... itna bara" Do you how big the lion was.... this big he had gesticulated opening his arms wide and Sunaina's small eyes had grown large conjuring up the animal's size in her mind. As her mouth opened in awe Milind had lifted the spoon and tipped the contents in her mouth and she had started munching the food absentmindedly. It was a happy meal that Sunaina had had that night sitting in Milind's lap while he and Prachi took turns to feed her. After her meal her eyes had felt droopy and she had entered dreamland listening to Milnd's deep voice as it gently lulled her to sleep. Handing her over to the matron along with her things both Prachi and Milind had left for home satisfaction etched over their hearts. Milind had pondered on the possibility of adopting Sunaina before Prachi left she would have a home and he a reason to live for.

Milind had started with his office the very next day he had absolutely loved the change and had set his mind on achieving his goals. It had been a long time and heartfelt wish of his to one day own his chain of hotels and he had started working towards it immediately. His hard work earned him a good repute and soon enough he was the most sought after employee there. "Mr Shah the man is a genius he just saved us from a heavy loss that would have incurred if we had invested in Saurav's deal." Mr Khanna sang Milind's praises to Inder over the phone updating him on the Indian branch's growing success crediting Milind his fair share . Inder had made a mental note to meet the young man when he visited India the next month it was high time he inspected his hotel there. In all those months Inder had assumed Prachi to be in Singapore attending a course on herbal medication as informed to him by Ramu Kaka. He had been caught up in work the hotel at Milan was a costly venture and he was leaving no stone unturned to make it churn profit for him in the coming days. The renovation was over and the hotel would be inaugurated soon. Ayesha Neev and Rahul had left for New York the previous week and Inder too would leave once the hotel started functioning properly. Surprisingly he had missed Prachi though their conversations had always been limited he had become used to her presence near him, the few occassions on which he had visited Watford were cherished memories for him. He loved his daughter more than words could express and that sadly was what he could simply not do.... find the appropriate words to express his feelings for her. He was amazed by the vivid clarity with which he remembered what she liked and disliked and had bought a few things for her from Italy which he planned to give to Ramu Kaka to hand them over to her citing them as gifts from Ayesha.

It had always been this way whatever Inder bought for her was passed on to her in Ayesha's name and she never once had suspected them to be from him. She would thank her sister for her thoughful gifts which indeed would have been purchased by Inder Ayesha knew about the little charade and went along with it wishing that one day her father would own up to his love for her sister. Sometimes words are not needed any longer to express thoughts and Inder prayed and hoped each day that such a miracle would happen and he would be able to convey his emotions to Prachi without ever baring his heart to her. Simple words like Thank you and Sorry remain choked in people's throats even though they wish to say them express their concern hurt anguish or pain yet some inexplicable barrier barrs them from doing so. Similar was the case with Inder he could never tell her how much he loved her most probably because he himself had been unaware of the resident feelings in his heart for her. One evening as they strolled in the Plaza Ayesha had spotted a rare Belgian necklace with amethysts it was eye catching and Neev had immediately placed an order for her. Much later when Neev and Ayesha had left to shop for Rahul's clothing Inder had placed an order for the exact same piece himself. He sighed wondering if he would ever be able to give it to Prachi or would it remain locked in the massive wardrobe that housed all her gifts from year one. It was true Inder had never forgotten her birthdays had religiously bought her gifts too but they all remained enclosed in the wardrobe never seeing the light of day wrapped in their shiny tinsel. Her birthday was a special day for her and no matter how hard he tried he could not make himself even pass on those wonderful gifts to her. At times he hated himself for his split personality how could he both hate and love her at the same time he wondered little had he known he had never hated her but had always made himself believe that he had. He was growing old now and hoped to divide his wealth between his daughters equally ofcourse they would come to know about it only after his demise and that was how he had wanted it to be simple and plain without the fuss associated with last wills.

"Suniye" Listen Prachi had addressed Milind as he sat poring over the daily paper "Hmm" he had answered engrossed in reading it. "Woh mujhey kuch paisey chahiye they" I needed some money she had told him and he had reached for his jean pocket drawing out a wad of notes he handed it to her. He had received his first salary which was thrice the amount he had been putting together earlier each month. "Yeh to buhut hain bas thorey sey chahiye" This is too much I just need some of it she had plucked a few notes and handed him the rest. Milind had looked upto find her gaze at him through sad eyes "Kiya hua" What happened? he was quick to notice her apprehension. She had turned away immediately to mask her distress and had left the room Ali had marched in just then to apprehend both of them. "Sharam naam ko nahin dono main yahaan meri vaat lagi hai itna nahin hota keh desi babu english maim aaker parosi kii shaadi main haath bata dein" You both are shameless can't help the neighbour in his trying times he had stomped inside dropping on the sofa highly irritated. Prachi had smiled while Milind had laughed aloud "Khud kii shaadi hai to ker mehnat meri kerwa raha hai jo ghussa ker raha hai" Its your wedding if your working hard its for your ownself so don't get angry and that fuelled Ali's anger "Khud kii bhi kerwa leina pehley bol to sahi uss sey pyaar kerta hai" You too can get married provided you tell her that you love her and Milind had looked at him sharply. Ali had smiled wickedly while Milind had punched him in the stomach by the time Prachi had arrived with tea for Ali both had been laughing raw laying on each other chuckling in a fit of madness. Ali had confided in Milind that Pam was indeed a disaster at cooking the day before she had attempted to make tea for his mother and she had ended up serving it in the kettle itself. While a confounded Nadra begum stared at her Pammy had poured out the watery mixture in her cup sans a sieve causing the tea leaves to float merrily around and so his poor mother had refrained from touching the potion in her opinion. "Zeher banaya hai kiya bahu" Is this poison she had criticized her daughter in law to be, openly she had then offered the liquid to Ali who had taken one look at Pam's sliding glasses her wide eyes and perspiring face and had fallen off his chair laughing. The act though had earned him a hard kick from Pam and a ten minute scolding from his mother. "Yeh kiya aap dono har waqt choti bachiyon kii tarah hanstey rehtey hain" Why are you both laughing like school girls? Prachi had wanted to know the joke but both had donned their gravest expressions then. "Sach Prachi kuch nahin hum to yunhi" Really Prachi its nothing we were just fooling around Milind had tried explaining when she had offered tea to Ali and that had caused them to start off with their uncontrollable laughter yet again. Prachi had been seriously offended that they had not shared the joke with her and Ali had reluctantly confided in her making her swear not to tell Pam about it as she had threatened to kill him if any other soul came to know about her blunder. The evening had passed in bliss with Ali and Milind entertaining Baba with their jocund company after finishing her chores Prachi had counted the money yet again. Would it be enough she had wondered before tucking it under her pillow the next morning she would put them to use after Milind left for work. In her haste it had conveniently slipped her mind that the next day was a public holiday and that Milind would very much at home.

That whole beach scene was a Michi lover's delight!! LOVED it.....these two words can't describe how much i loved each and every bit of Michi's rxn to each other....from Milind getting flustered to Prachi getting fearful with those brash kids approaching her to Michi finding serenity and contenment in each other's arms learning but not yet believing that Milind loves her!! also, the Michi scene with Sunaina was the icing on the cake!!

Inder really is s a complex man which makes him all the more interesting to read about. He is going to well and truly repent when he realises just how much his behaviour has affected Prachi, especially when it come to her self worth. By bringing Inder back into the picture, you reminded me why Prachi is how she is. I could feel nothing but sympathy for her. Awww, Milind, I think he is my favorite Milind of all the FFs. I was watching a movie where they described Daniel Craig's character as a rough noble and that is exactly what this Milind is. 😊 The less said about the tea leaves the better. 😆

Thanks Saima yes I've kept Michi relationship very sublime yet touching in here no drama no nothing just pure simple love. Yes this Milsi is different from my KIT Milsi as he has no haunting past he has a free soul, my passion for them sigh... I'm so in love with him so weave fiction after fiction for him. I'll sure take your advice hun. 😊

Yeah the beach is significant in each Michi relationship, I thought poor Sunaina needed a much overdue visit thus her appearance here.
