This topic was not to talk about Panchi's looks or criticize her...but just a comparison that i felt was needed after watching today's epi.

In the end of the epi when Panchi (the actress) is in all natural makeup with her eyes no lined and lip color is natrual too...she looked beautifuly simple and simply beautiful. And i had a sneaking suspicion that in that last part where she is remembering the things Milind said to her did for her and then she goes "I won't let anything happen to him as long as i am alive" there was a marked difference in her expressions...it actually looked like conviction on her part...something that has lacked in majority of the scn she has done post leap. Also just when she was getting up from the bed and Proteek and the doc come to stop her..she was about to say "Jo mere saath.." and then she catches Proteek's expression and changes her sentence...in that split second there was a eye communication that also i thought was brilliant as Panchi's eyes did the work. And she also pushed Proteek's hand that was holding her shoulder her discomfort clear on her face. And in the last part there was a sign of madness on her face when she said "i won't let anything happen to him". I do believe that Panchi Dasgupta's ghost has been exorcized.

Ok so where am i going with this...i just felt that Panchi acts better when her face is less caked and also that Panchi never really got into the skin of Panchi Dasgupta post the leap though in the begining Panchi's hasmukh nature matched Panchi Bora's natural character too...i think she has gotten used to palying Prachi's charater and doesn't fit well into another type.

Interesting observation about the make up, acting connection.

As for the Panchi Dasgupta's ghost being exorcised. I don't agree, because Prachi said 'joh mere saath ta..' and she changed her sentence to 'I mean joh meri jaan bachiyi woh kese hain' after seeing Proteek's reaction, that clearly shows she has no intention to letting go of her Panchi DG mask.

Emz...the scn that came after it was more reflective of Prachi. And i disagree. I can see changes in Prachi.

I don't know if I am offending any Panchi Bora fans- but believe me I don't hate her and I wanna say something here.

Panchi Bora had a challenge of playing two characters at the same time where she was Prachi Mishra in reality but had to fake as Panchi Dasgupta as she was leading a fake life. I guess on a whole the actress wasn't able to effectively bring out Panchi and Prachi at the same time in most scenes. What I wanted to see was a dutiful Panchi in her body language with Prachi's pain and longing for Milind in her eyes. I don't think she did a good job at it.
And I don't think the directors did any better.

I'm really starting to think a lot of the problems with this track is due to acting and direction. Panchi seems to be being terribly directed. Instead of looking emotionally torn, she just looks perplexed. None of her emotions is hitting as hard as it should. It's so wierd, Hindi soaps are supposed to be all about melodrama and over-the-top emotions especially in such a track, yet Prachi seems way too restrained and everything on her part is underplayed. Meanwhile it doesn't help to contrast that with Shabbir's acting. He's totally convincing with his pain and suffering and therefore everyone is so sympathetic towards him. I can't remember anyone being this sympathetic towards Milind during the PA track during which Shabbir suffered from terrible direction.

All Milind was supposed to do in PA track was to look confused at every action and put his hand on his head to remember some FBs. Ayesha and Prachi were entertaining going neck to neck. But this fake track has a lot fo scope for Panchi to act better. I think neither she not the creatives are paying attention to her expressions.

BC you have hit the nail. I agree with you and Shubs that Panchi's character post leap is very complex and she could not deliver partly because of her own inexperience and lack of understanding of what was expected and largely because of poor screenplay and direction. The track itself started off on the wrong foot with that unnecessary PP scene. That had put off people sufficiently. All Prachi's actions after that seemed fake. Panchi too does not seem to be too convinced by her role. Shabbir is convincing because he is an excellent actor and this track has given him sufficient scope to show a range of emotions. His characterisation is also more convincing as it is more consistent that Prachi's.
I especially agree with the bolded portions. Shabbo did not receive much sympathy votes during the PA track because in that one his character was the one that suffered from inconsistencies and irrationality. A man who lost his one-year memory was portrayed as dimwit who just had to keep giving blank stares most of the time. One wondered whether he was supposed to have PA or has lost his brains all together. Similar thoughts are running in the minds of people about Prachi now. Has this woman lost her brains and heart? It appears so because she is made to act so unrealistically.
Coming to JC's topic, I do agree that if one looks at it in an impassioned manner, Panchi definitely put up a more convincing performance and it may be she felt more at home with what was expected of her. I expecially liked the last scene. It seemed like finally there was a scene Panchi the actress could relate to.
And yes, Panchi Bora looks more beautiful in her own skin. Heavy makeup mars the beauty of her skin which literally glows. She is indeed a natural beauty.
