My comments are in light of tonights episode and the precap for tomorrow. Now that i have renewed hope, my comments may seem biased to you guys. But then i am trying to save my doll's image here...and thats a risky business given that everyone is against her today. So i'll take the liberty to be biased and lenient.
About her reasons for going with Proteek (I'll not talk about her reasons for leaving Milsi cause even I don't think it was necessary, but since Michi separation was must for the leap…). When they started the flashback..suddenly I found my doll…there she was the girl I could recognize as Prachi Mishra. The flashback did make sense to me…though everything was hurried so you have to make exception in certain places. The fact that Prachi had refused to go with Panchi and her husband…because she didn't want to be a burden..she still hadn't gotten to know them closely…though she had related her life to Panchi…I guess cause Panchi came across as such an outgoing friendly, caring person…at that point Prachi needed to let off some steam and talking to Panchi was a way for her to deal I guess. But still she refused to go with them to their house.
Then the bomb blasted and the moment Prachi opened her eyes and saw Proteek with the kid..the first thing she said was "Where is Panchi?" she is not caring about her injuries, or what just happened…omg there was blast…she first thought of the missing person…and Proteek was just as lost without his wife as Milsi was. He kept repeating as a chant.. "I don't know…I don't know where she is" until Prachi almost screamed… "Go find her". I found that scn very well done. And Proteek (whats his name?) did well in the part where he finds his wife and realizes she is no more…thought again it was a hurried situation and therefore did not have the effect it would have otherwise had.
At the funeral…when Proteek was relating his situation to Prachi…I felt that was the beginning of their friendship…it was symbolic of Proteek extending his hand to Prachi for friendship. When he had first seen Prachi in the train with their kid he had scolded Panchi for trusting a stranger. Throughout the train ride Proteek was a stranger to Prachi and Prachi was a stranger to Proteek. They didn't even speak I think until after the blast. But I think when you encounter a tragedy together even with perfect strangers, it bonds you with that person to some extent that would be impossible in a normal situation. Proteek was trying to get rid of Prachi the whole time but when they came out of the blast…Proteek was in a similar position as Prachi and probably saw an understanding soul in her. So he talked to her about his family…his father's health and how they will take the news of Panchi (what was the need to do that)..but he had no one else there…Prachi was there…and she could understand. Then as he was leaving he offered her the same companionship that he had needed just a few minutes ago. Because he knew she had nowhere to go. He offered her a temporary solution just as a way of honoring his wife's last wish and also that maybe he finally sympathized with someone who had lost their everything (I don't know if he still knows the whole story)…because he had too. And though I found the dialogs less impactful again (Sarna babe you lost your touch..are you still writing for this show?)…it was something that meant to invoke trust in Prachi for a stranger. And besides, like Prachi said herself..she is still not sure what it was that prompted her to follow him that day…it might have been that she saw no other option for her (at the moment) which is understandable. She didn't have anything with her except for the baby she was carrying inside…and if her maternal instincts told her that she needed to take the help she gets in order to survive the next day…so she can nourish the child living inside her..then I don't blame her. Maybe the way he had reassured her that she would be treated like family had made her feel less suspicious of him. And again..going through a tragedy like a bomb blast does make you trust the people that you go through it with. They can't really be categorized as complete strangers. So all this was a temporary situation for both of them. He was honoring his wife's last wish and she was accepting the help because she needed to survive for her child…he probably planned on helping her find her way and she planned on figuring out a way asap. So she went along…maybe for a few days. But neither of them had expected for her to be mistaken. So to me the reasons for Prachi going to Proteek's house is justified. Now as for her pretending to be his wife…i'll wait to see what they show me tomorrow. I don't have too much hope but then I do believe in making the best of any situation given.
What i find offensive (and i think the rest of you as well) was that bedroom scene. And i feel if it weren't for that scene with Proteek holding her to the bed like that...we might even have accepted her running around and laughing with her new family...we would have seen that in a different light. So which ever idiot came up with that bedroom scene needs to beaten up. But i think the reason they included was to create sensation...to get the audience to react (negatively we did) and i think that was the purpose...but do they not realize the damage??/ Newho...besides the point.
I read briefly someone saying Prachi looked disappointed when he let her go. And someone complained why she didnt' push him off or slap him. Here is what I think. She did try to wriggle her hands but he was holding her too tight. Tight enough to hurt her hands..so she couldn't push him even if she wanted to. She didn't slap him because she realized his intentions weren't bad…he just wanted to scare her for what she said about him earlier. He is a good enough friend of hers...that she trusts him...trusts him blindly. She has known him for 5 years...has lived in his house faking to be his wife for 5 years...and if she feels comfortable enough to pull his leg in front of the whole family and to throw pillows at him and to have him tease her too...it must mean that he is as good a friend of hers as Neev once was. If she allowed him near her...it was because she trusted his intentions...and not because she enjoyed his proximity. Yes she didn't stop him…because he caught her off guard...she was laughing her head off at his embarrassment when she noticed his changed expressions. So they showed that scene in slow motion for the impact and like i said...it was a poorly scripted scene and completely unnecessary but what can we do. The point is she was confused and disconcerted by his sudden behavior change. He said himself that he has never done such a thing before... it came at her unexpected. When he released her it wasn't disappointment...it was an embarrassment...a confusion...at what just happened??? When he gave her his hand to get up...she readily took it...showing that she didn't hold it against him. Because even before he opened his mouth to explain...she knew he was joking with her...but that didn't stop her from feeling embarrassed (or is that even the right word for what you feel in such a situation). Her happy face was gone the moment he started coming close...and she had sobered up completely even started crying as she recounted the past. And what really struck me is when Proteek said they are not only good friends but they reduce each other's pain. So the laughing, joking and running around fits in there…it helps them forget their separate pains even though temporarily. And I am not saying its ok that Prachi forgets the pain of being away from Milsi when we have no clue what Milsi is going through. But is it such a sin to have a laugh once in a while. Ok leave that. Whats sad is that I see Proteek playing Neev's role in Prachi's life currently. And whats sadder is that I see another triangle coming up as Milind will come back into Prachi's life…or Prachi will come back into Milind's life. Well I am not thinking about the future of the show…it doesn't make me feel too good…so whatever.
Ok so whats got me so happy about Prachi is the Precap. It showed the Prachi that I know and love…the one that couldn't be comfortable with anyone else other than her Milind. Made me really happy to see that. Because it was similar to the dance that Neev and Prachi had at the collage reunion (but even more uncomfy for Prachi) and the time at Neev and Prachi's engagement ceremony during the PA track when Prachi tries to go away from Neev and doesn't want to dance with him. That was the Prachi is saw in the precap. And that made me really happy…not just that she didn't dance with Proteek but when Proteek tried to reassure her that its ok…she just took his hands off her and moved away. Now that's inconsistent with what we saw in Thursday's epi…but its consistent with the Prachi we know. Over all my take on the leap is that the first epi was a complete decoy…it was just to give a shock value to the leap…but what we will see hence forth will be our Prachi Mishra…and no Panchi Dasgupta. I wish they had handled the leap with more care…made the transition slower…explored the emotions of the characters during the blast and immediately after and explained that they didn't just one fine day become husband and wife and started laughing and enjoying life together leaving behind a grieving family. I wish they hadn't shown the first episode the way they did at the point in which they did…it was very insensitive to the reactions of the audience..they should have had better insight into what they should show at what point and that a flow is required for every story. But most importantly I am willing to give Prachi the chance to regain her dignity…and I am willing to wait and see what Michi will give us this time.
PS: i feel like i am back to being silly with my reasonings the way i was during the PIM track. It was so hard to justify what Prachi was doing then...and almost everyone including me questioned her priorities and came very very close to disowning her...but at the very last moment...there was this tiny light of redemption...that was when at the 11th hour she decided to fight the divorce case and not give up Milsi...that was when everyone realized that all this time she never really thought things would come down to her marriage breaking and it was really when the divorce seemed inevitable that she decided to even try to tell him the truth and fight for the one relationship that meant everything to her...for somereason i feel at some point in this track she will again give us such a situation where we will feel it in our hearts to forgive her.
Thnax to whoever had the patience to read this.
