The return of 'Khiladi'
Abbas-Mustan are in talks for making three sequels, starring Shah Rukh and Akshay Kumar
In this season of sequels and remakes, the Jain brothers of Venus aren't just planning to joining in - they are in talks to complete a triple whammy of sequels. If all goes well, they will present the part 2 to three Abbas-Mustan blockbusters — 'Khiladi', 'Baazigar' and 'Baadshah'.
Mustan Burmawala of Abbas-Mustan, has confirmed that talks are on. "Venus did come to us with a proposal to make sequels to these big films. We have been talking to them for some time and would love to make them since these were very popular movies and even we had enjoyed making them. But we haven't been able to arrive on how exactly to take this ahead," says Mustan.
Most of Abbas-Mustan's work has been in collaboration with Venus, which incidentally, is the producer of all the three movies. What Mustan is very sure of is that they would be looking to sign the original stars for the sequels.
"We definitely hope to cast Akshay (star of 'Khiladi') and Shah Rukh ('Baazigar and 'Badshah') since they were in the originals," he says. It would also be interesting to see who is signed to play the female lead opposite Akshay in 'Khiladi 2' in place of Ayesha Jhulka.
In many ways, 'Khiladi' and 'Baazigar' were landmark films for Akshay Kumar and Shah Rukh Khan respectively.
