The King Khan of Bollywood and the Warwick castle
Shah Rukh was invited to inaugurate a million pound attraction at the famous Warwick Castle
That the King Khan of Bollywood has influence far beyond its shores was proved again when he was invited to inaugurate a new million pound attraction in Warwick Castle.
Shah Rukh, accompanied by Gauri and his children, flew to the popular Midland castle on a helicopter to do the honours. Once they landed, they were escorted by armoured knights for a medieval-style red-ribbon cutting ceremony to unveil the new 'Dream of Battle'.
It's the sort of thing you'd expect a western celebrity to be invited for, but SRK is clearly holding his own against the David Beckhams and Robbie Williams of the world. "No one from Bollywood usually gets the opportunity to do something like this. It is very rare indeed," commented Reena Combo, a British-Asian journalist. A senior official, Sue Kemp, was clearly thrilled about having Shah Rukh. "He is one of the most popular actors in the world today and we are delighted he's officially opened our newest attraction."
Exulted Shah Rukh, "I love Britain and our visit to Warwick Castle has given us a wonderful and exciting taste of British history. The castle itself is spectacular. There are so many stories and so much to do. We've had a truly memorable time." Asked whether he thought Warwick Castle would make a good place to shoot a Bollywood movie he happily replied, "I'd love to; it's an absolutely stunning place."
Immediately after the official opening, SRK took a private tour of the castle and new latest attraction with his family, which was off limits for the media.
