KBC's first episode reaches 5 million more than the launch episode of KBC 2. The figures, which came on the last day of shoot before the crew took a much needed break for ten days, underlined SRK's success as host. Kaun Banega Crorepati began with a strong 12.3 rating and reached 23.3 million on day one. With a smile on his face and surrounded with whistles, Siddharth Basu – the man behind the show - informed his crew that KBC had reached 39 million individuals in the first week of launch. Speaking in a make shift canteen on the sets, Basu informed everyone that this figure was the highest ever reach for a show in the first week in the History of satellite TV.
