It's known that last night Shah Rukh Khan gifted Hyderabad-based contestant Ram K Guggila a Tag Heuer watch on Kaun Banega Crorepati 3. What is not so well-known is that Shah Rukh was prompted to do so by his once arch rival, Salman Khan.
Apparently, Salman, who is himself known for generously handing out gifts to people, advised Shah Rukh to do the same, on the show. Recently when the two Khans met, Salman suggested that Shah Rukh should make his interaction with the contestants of KBC 3 more personalised by gifting something to participants who do not fare too well. According to Sallu, this would ensure that they do not feel too dejected and can actually look forward to getting a gift from Shah Rukh which they can treasure forever.
Evidently, SRK thought that Sallu was making a lot of sense. And volunteered to gift something to some unsuccessful participants. Needless to say, this gift is extravagant. He has gifted expensive Tag Heuer watches on more than one occasion to contestants.
Producer of KBC 3, Siddhartha Basu says, "Shah Rukh is a very impulsive person. I remember even during the rehearsals at his house; he used to feel very bad when someone lost. At that time he told me that he wanted to give

something to people who did not win big amounts. In the eight episodes that we have shot so far, he has already gifted two watches to contestants. I don't know what's in store next."
When contacted Guggila said, "Shah Rukh became emotional on seeing that I could not win a big amount. I don't know what came over him but he got up suddenly, took off his watch and gifted it to me. We had struck a bond because of constant interaction over two days. I was very touched by this gesture."
It was only when Guggila returned to Hyderabad that he learnt the cost of the watch, Rs 1.28 lakh. "It is very expensive. In return, I have decided to present him with something too. In fact, I am giving him something that is very precious to me - a watch that my wife had given me on my wedding day," said Guggila.
