I think he was more bothered that they weren't colour co-ordinated and katha had a WTF expression like "why would I colour coordinate with you?" 😆 and he had to make it sound like it was a joke.

maybe if katha had worn something white, he would have been like "see this is destiny!!" 🤦‍♀️

that makes a lot of sense! he is trying to destroy the competition before the competition roars. in a way, his story about alcohol would have played out differently depending on the woman. if it was social type woman, she wouldn't have batted one eye or thought anything of it. ehsaan knows that katha is a teetotaler and so it is more than degrading viaan. he basically wants katha to have a bad opinion about viaan so that viaan does not have a chance.
