Damn.. Viaan is that rich to afford 1 cr for ONS.

He was ready to give 2 Cr just for talking to him.. He is very rich 😆

yes but why are we even trying to label or put someone in a rigid box? S***shaming Katha, calling it prostitution disregards every struggle she been through for her son.

He made an offer and she accepted it. They are equal partners in this transaction. Why should she get a moral high ground?

The feminist in me cringes when women want equal rights/authority but not equal responsibility.

THIS! I cannot relate to her character anymore because the fact that she thinks what she did was fine as a MOTHER in need but then she wants Viaan to suffer for making her an offer because she is a WOMAN like girl make it make sense but it doesn't to me. Viaan's offer is wrong and he has his own learning to do but at least it helped save her son's life which she isn't even thinking about and instead goes on to mend her relationship with papaG who said so much cruel stuff about her son.

Is Katha beggar too since she asked for help from strangers?

yes, I would. If you want to label things for they are then sometimes life is ugly. Difference between begging and charity is perspective. Giver is doing charity, taker is the beggar. They are two sides of a coin. If you ask for help with no intention of returning the favor, it is begging.

Here Katha Viaan has secretly done that. But when it is revealed to public, Katha will get derogatory comments from public.

That's why I don't consider this as prostitution.

the fact that the deal is secret and should not come out and if it does people will badmouth it makes it prostitution. She knows but excuses herself because she needed the money to save a life. He knows it so he offered the second time.

As for the first paragraph, that is a personal opinion. I know some people in the trade and their circumstances. I prefer to see them at people doing their best to survive with the cards that the life has dealt them. That is why I will not say katha did wrong. But there is no need for whitewashing or justifications. Just own it!

@bold So far Katha want to stay away from Viaan or only keep professional relationships. It is the Viaan who keeps reminding her of ONS which she clearly mentioned she doesn't want to discuss this. She is afraid if anyone would find out then her reputation will be tarnished. She was also stopping her MIL in party to speak about 1cr. She has no answer of how she got such big money.

Consciously she can't be friend or behave normal with Viaan. Especially after 2nd offer. Viaan was keep on molesting her.

Again it is Viaan who ask for forgiveness. So Katha has the right to know why he offered him in first place. Also why Viaan want to know what she did with money. It is again Viaan who keeps on judging her.

But were they equal partners? Yes they went in willing, they both consented but that make it equal in this situation? I don’t think it does.

Viaan put a sexual favour as the condition to the money that was wanted as a loan. Whatever her reason was and actually that is irreverent, you had a vulnerable person in need of money and the condition to get that money is a sexual favour. That itself is wrong on the party that made the offer. The person who made the offer here happens to be the man.

Katha hasn’t had to take responsibility yet. Really neither has Viaan as no one has found out. When they do that’s a different story. Currently, Viaan feels guilt for not knowing the true reason she needed the money. He regrets his actions. But she doesn’t regret it. She has justified her actions and decision within herself, in that what she needed to do this.

Men and women should equal rights and be held equally responsible. But in this situation doesn’t seem equal. One person had the upper hand and the control here and the was the money. Without it, it may have been different.

Apologies didn’t realise it became this long 😳

But she wasn’t begging. She asked for a loan. That in its self is something you pay back.

Thinking about, I wouldn’t call it prostitution either. As that would be her offering the service in lieu of payment. Where her it was the other way other.

I feel like because we know that Viaan isn't a bad guy per say, it is hard to categorize this whole event that took place between them. If this was something he'd done in the past to someone else and now to Katha again, then it would be a different case. We don't know for sure if he has made this offer to test others in the past but going by what's been implied in the show, let's assume this is his first time (obv not justifying this even for one time). Now you might say why Katha and not someone else? According to me, there may or may not have been a mild attraction (very unclear from the show) but more than that I personally think he was extremely intrigued by her ever since he met her. The first time he met her, despite her being late, he was quite impressed with her presentation and her perspective on the whole project which I think sparked a mild curiosity about her. Second, when Viaan found out about the fact that someone was leaking information to Pyramid, Katha had come in his room and there was this suspiciousness on his mind after he kind of sees her trembling making him further curious about her. Third, the fact that Katha went against him to persuade Amrita for the shipment on Dubai project impressed him even more. All these events combined had got Viaan thinking more about her and unconsciously he was already getting drawn towards her (again, I wouldn't call this attraction). But the moment he faces Katha's ask for 1 cr, his curiosity peaks and so he decides to test her which is why when she rejects his offer at first we see this relief on his face. But when Katha comes back to accept it, he looses his shit as he gets triggered by his past trauma.

Now that's what I feel about the actual offer. As for why he went on to doing the deed, I think because he was really expecting her to not show up at all at the hotel, he loses his shit for the second time when she shows up. The same curiosity he had for her awakens again when she shows up so he finally decides to go for it as a second test but eventually gets drawn into her when she says that she wasn't there to back out (this may or may not make sense to everyone). For Katha, the act itself didn't mean much because her main motive was the money. But for Viaan, he was left with disappointment when he saw her leave with the money at the end of the night because she couldn't prove wrong his perception about woman which is what he wanted her to do.

Keeping all that in mind, I don't believe that a single term can be used to describe this whole situation. Viaan didn't know about Katha's situation and Katha didn't know about Viaan's past. Both were unable to read each other leading this whole situation to take place. Viaan is responsible for his actions while Katha is responsible for hers. Only thing is, Viaan's weight of wrong actions are higher than Katha's as he initiated it while Katha had valid reasons for doing it.

I know my pov is rather extreme but I stand by it. It was equal because her job was not on line. They both had something that other one wanted. She could have asked for more money - which tells me she had as much power as he did. At point in time she happened to be the more desperate party so did not counter or negotiate the offer properly. 😆
