Kasturi underpaid, overworked

Shubhangi Aatre, lead actor in Balaji Telefilms' serial Kasturi, has stopped turning up for shooting for some time now citing health reasons as the problem. Apparently, the real reason is that Kasturi aka Shubhangi, is allegedly underpaid and overworked.

According to a source on the sets, "Shubhangi suddenly stopped coming to the sets. For the past two months, she was trying to meet Ekta Kapoor desperately, since her contract had to be renewed in April. Apparently, she completed one year on the show and she wanted to speak to Ekta about her low salary. Most TV lead stars are paid approximately Rs 10,000 per day, but she only gets around Rs 3,000."

It is also known that besides the increment issue, there are other issues like the unpleasant atmosphere on the sets, and the use of foul language.

When we spoke to Shubhangi's husband Piyush, he refuted allegations saying, "Shubhangi is not well and she is resting. We have submitted a doctor's certificate to the production house and she will resume shooting within a couple of days."
