PART - 25
Kasturi will reach home and go to her room. In a week Tanu and Navneet's final exams will be starting and so they will be studying hard.
Tanu : Di, kahaan gayi thi app? Aur woh haath mei kya hai? Shopping gayi thi?
Kasturi : Nahi Tanu, woh........
Ajay (who is passing by, yells at her) : Phir baatein shuru?? Kitni baar kahaa ke concentrate karke nahi padhegi, toh kabhi exams pass nahi ho sakti.
Tanu (sulking) : Padh toh rahi hun, bhaiyya!
Ajay : Navneet ko dekh kar seekh. Kitni acchi bacchi hai.
Navneet smiles and makes a facial expression of being superior to Tanu. Tanu gets mad and throws a pillow at her. They get back to studying and Kasturi is relieved that she did not have to lie about the saree.
(Lets visit the SS mansion for a change...)
Its been a couple of months since Neela and Raaga came back to Raunak. They comfortably settle down. Neela's rapport with Nandini & Dushyant will be amazing. And Nandini & Dushyant are happy beyond words that they have become grandparents. They will spend all their time with Raaga. She will bring such joy into their lives!! Everyone in the household will be crazy about her. Specially Robbie, he will just love her to bits.
A beautiful relationship will also develop between Nandini and Neela. They will make small adjustments for each other. Realizing that her mother-in-law does not like modern outfits too much, Neela will start wearing salwar-kameez and sarees during weekends when she is home. Neela will be a vegetarian and so Nandini will keep an eye out for Neela and make sure that nothing non-vegetarian is served to her. She will also not allow Neela to drop Raaga in day-care and will herself take the responsibility of looking after her when Neela is at work. Raunak will thank his stars that he has such wonderful parents and wife, who have adjusted well with each other.
Neela will get along very well with Divya and Alaana too. Alaana is so in awe of her that she does not dare to misbehave with Neela.
Shivani's death will leave Devika and Purushottam very sad and rattled. Specially Devika. She will become very quiet and her heart will weep for her daughter. This will be a situation she had never imagined even in her dreams and it will be very hard for her to recover. She will never exhibit these feelings outside but her heart will be bleeding inside. And she will also observe the flowering relationship between Nandini and her bahu in front of her eyes and she cannot help but introspect.
She will see Nandini and Neela get along so well. She will see them spending time with each other and having fun. And she will think:
Devika : Nandini ko sirf ek betaa hai, lekin phir bhi unhe kitni khushi mili. Unhe Raunak jaisa perfect betaa milaa. Betaa ho toh aisa. Aur mere char-char bacche hai lekin phir bhi mei khushi ke liye taras rahi hun. Bete se shaadi ki baat karti hun, toh woh chidh jaata hai (After Kasturi leaves the house, at every given opportunity Devika will tell Robbie to think about getting married but he will refuse every single time and will warn her to never bring the topic up), Divya se shaadi karne ko kehti hun, toh kehti hai abhi woh shaadi ke liye tayaar nahi hai aur Shivani.........(Her eyes will fill up with tears.) Shaayad......Shaayad mei Kasturi ko Robbie ki zindagi mei aane deti toh.....(She will control herself) Aaj se pehle mei itni lachaar kabhi nahi thi, itnaa akelapan kabhi mehsoos nahi hua.
She will continue with life, but these thoughts will be eating her up. And she will have no one to share them with.

Robbie reaches home, and he sees his dad and Raunak sitting in the living room. He goes and joins them.
Puru : Robbie, kal tumhe Mumbai jaana hoga.
Robbie (surprised) : Kyun?
Puru : Recently, tumhaare naam pe Company ne Mumbai mei kuch real estate khareeda. Aur haal hi mei Government ne yeh nayaa rule banaaya ke land jiske naam pe ho, usse physically registration office mei aake resgistration papers pe dastakhat karnaa hoga. Isi liye kal tumhe Mumbai jaana hoga.
Robbie is not convinced and shoots a questioning glance at Raunak. (You see, Robbie still dislikes his dad quite a bit, its just that marrying Kasturi will calm him down a little and he will behave civilly towards his dad.)
Raunak : Haan Robbie, Uncle theek keh rahe hai. Tumhe kal jaana hoga. Mei abhi tumhe phone karne hi waala tha iss baare mei.
Robbie is thinking about Kasturi. Ek din ke liye Kasturi se door rehna padega......
Raunak (has read Robbie's mind) : Ek hi din ki toh baat hai, Robbie. Shaam tak waapas aa jaaoge.
Robbie : Theek hai.
Raunak : OK, kal subah 8.00 AM ki flight book karva deta hun. Tum chale jaana.
They all talk some more and then Robbie goes up to his room and calls Kasturi. Her phone is busy as she is talking to someone. He decides to call after a few minutes.
In Chawla house
Kasturi (talking on her phone and very surprised) : Yeh sab kab hua??
Siya (very excited): Baatein toh ek hafte se chal rahi thi, lekin decision aaj hi liyaa gayaa hai.
Kasturi : Congratulations Ms.Siya Puri!!! Mei tumhaare liye bahut bahut khush hun!
Siya : Thank you Kasturi! Aur parson tumhe zaroor aana hai engagement pe.
Kasturi (hesitates) : Siya, tu jaanti hai meri situation. Mei wahaan aake koi scene nahi create karnaa chahti.
Siya : Kya scene? Kaisa scene?
Kasturi : Siya, tum jaanti ho mei kya keh rahi hun. Mujhe dekhkar log tarah tarah ki baatein karenge....
Siya : Ek baat kaan kholkar sunlo, Kasturi. Tum aaogi toh hi engagement hogi, varnaa engagement NAHI HOGI!
Kasturi : Meri baat samajhne ki koshish karo...
Siya : Mujhe kuch nahi samajhnaa! Agar tumhe uncomfortable lag rahaa hai, toh aisa karte hai. Mei tumhaare sivaa kisiko bhi nahi bulaaungi. Sirf hum log honge..
Kasturi : Paagal ho gayi hai kya?
Siya : HAAN!
Kasturi (giving up): Theek hai. Aaungi.
Siya : YES!!!!! Yeh hui na baat. Now we are talking.
Meanwhile Tanu will grab the phone
Tanu : Kyun Siya, hame nahi bulaa rahi hai?
Siya : Arre, pehle exams ki tayyari kar. Shaadi do mahine baad hai, shaadi mei aa jaana.
Navneet will grab the phone...
Navneet : Siya di, Congratulations! Waise tumhaare 'unkaa' naam kya hai??
Both she and Tanu will laugh and Kasturi will hit her lightly on the head.
Siya : Navneet ki bacchi. Chidha rahi hai mujhe??
Navneet : Nahi nahi, Sorry!! Sach mei di, jijaaji ka naam kya hai?
Siya : Shekhar , Shekhar Sethi.
They all talk for some more. Again Siya takes promise from Kasturi and finally ends the call saying
Siya : Maa abhi aunty ko call karke unhe bhi invite karegi. Tum aur aunty zaroor aana. Bye.
Meanwhile Robbie is trying her phone like crazy. Its half an hour and still her phone is busy. He is getting very restless. Finally he will try once more.
Kasturi had just disconnected her call with Siya when it will ring again. She will take the call without seeing who it is.
Kasturi : Hello.
Robbie : FINALLY!!! Kis se baat kar rahi thi?? Kab se tumhaara phone try kar rahaa hun!!!
Kasturi (quickly glances at Tanu and Navneet) : Haan Siya, bol.
Robbie : Siya????? Koi hai tumhaare paas?
Kasturi : Ek minute, yahaan Tanu aur Navneet padhai kar rahe hai, mei terrace pe aa jaati hun.
Robbie (chuckles) : Waah, kya safaai se mujhe information de diyaa! Kasturi Sabharwal, you are very sharp!
By then Kasturi has reached the terrace.
Kasturi : Aap hi ki wajah se mujhe yeh sab karnaa padh rahaa hai! Aapse milne se pehle meine zindagi mei kabhi jhoot nahi bola tha.
Robbie : Accha??? Satya Harishchandra in female form! Mujhse milne se pehle ki tumhaari zindagi bhi koi zindagi thi?? Woh toh shukr karo mei tumhe mil gayaa, jo tumhe jeena sikha rahaa hun. Varnaa.....
Kasturi : Varnaa kya??
Robbie : Varnaa tum yunhi bhatakti phirti, andhere mei.
Kasturi : Accha! Aur aap kya tube light hai, jisne meri zindagi mei ujaala kar diyaa hai?
Robbie : Mujhse kya poochti ho, khudh se poocho. Jawaab mil jaayega.
Kasturi : Poochne se pehle hi jawaab mil gayaa.
Robbie : Kya hai jawaab?
Kasturi : Aapne mere zindagi mei itni roshni bhar di hai, ke ab aapke binaa ek pal jiyaa nahi jaata.
Robbie becomes silent and Kasturi is blusing on the phone.
Robbie : Wah, kya jawab hai! Isi jawab ke liye toh mei jee rahaa hun. Iss jawaab ke liye toh inaam milnaa chahiye and he kisses her over the phone.
Kasturi : Accha ab bas. Kahiye...phone kaise kiyaa?
Robbie (remembering) : Haan Kasturi, mei tumhe kal nahi mil sakta. Mujhe zaroori kaam se Mumbai jaana hai.
Kasturi (becomes sad) : Oh!
Robbie : Sorry Kasturi, yeh program ekdum achaanak ban gayaa. Lekin mei shaam tak waapas aa jaaonga. Is it OK with you? Nahi toh mei cancel...
Kasturi (feeling better) : Nahi, nahi. Please don't cancel. mei theek hun. Ek hi din ki toh baat hai. Aap apnaa kaam achi tarah se kar leejiye. Waise kal shaam ko, kitne baje hai aapki flight?
Robbie : 6.30 PM shaayad
Kasturi will plan to go to the airport and surprise him! Then she tells him about Siya's engagement and Robbie hopes she will enjoy it. They talk for long and finally they will end the call as he has an early flight the next day.
Next day during lunch Kasturi and Robbie will miss each other. In Mumbai, due to some unforseen circumstances the registration process will get delayed for a day. Robbie will be very irritated but he has no option but to stay. Kasturi will also be very disappointed. She will think, next day is Siyaa's engagement and since I am going to the engagement, I will not be able to go to the airport.
It will be the next day. Robbie will finish his work successfully and will be coming back to Delhi. Kaushalya and Kasturi will go to Siyaa's place. Kasturi will wear a salwar because that will be most convenient dress for her to hide her mangalsutra. Siyaa's family will welcome them very affectionately and Kasturi will help Siyaa get ready. Soon the groom's side will come and there will be a lot of excitement all around. While the engagement is going on, Kaushalya and Kasturi will sit a little away as they want it to be a family affair. But Siyaa will signal to Kasturi asking her to come and stand near her.
Kasturi comes and stands near her when she will suddenly feel someone pulling her hand and calling her name out. She will turn to see Nandini standing there looking at her surprised. Kasturi is very surprised too.
Kasturi : Maa ji, aap?
Nandini : Arre woh hi toh mei poochne waali thi, Tum yahaan kaise?
Kasturi : Siya meri best friend hai.
Nandini : Oh, accha. Akeli aayi ho?
Kasturi : Nahi, maa bhi aayi hai.
And she shows her mother. Nandini immediately walks over to Kaushalya along with Kasturi.
Nandini : Namaste behen ji, Kaisi hai aap?
Kaushalya (getting up) : Namaste ji. mei theek hun. Aap kaisi hai?
Nandini : Acchi hun.
Kaushalya : Aur bhai sahab?
Nandini : Woh bhi acche hai.
Kasturi : Lekin maaji, aap yahaan kaise?
Nandini : Arre, Shekhar meraa bhai ka ladka hai. Mera bhai Pune mei rehta hai. Engagement ke liye aakar woh mere hi ghar mei rukaa hai. Ussne kaha didi aap bhi chaliye, toh mei aa gayi. Kabhi nahi socha aap se yun mulaakat hogi.
For a second they all will remember their last meeting. Kaushalya will feel embarrassed and say
Kaushalya : Woh behenji.....woh mei kehna chah rahi thi... pichli baar jo hua uske liye mei bahut sharminda hun. Lalaji ki baat kaa aap buraa maan gayi hongi. Woh uss samay aape mei nahi the. Mei unki taraf se maafi maangti hun.
Nandini (touched) : Arre nahi! Kaisi baatein kar rahi hai aap? Mei aur aapke bhai saab toh kab kaa usse bhool gaye hai. Meri maaniye toh aap bhi uss baat ko bhool jaiye.
Meanwhile the engagement function will start and will take place with a lot of fun. Then dinner will be served. During dinner Nandini will sit next to Kaushalya and Kasturi. After a while Nandini will look at Kaushalya and say
Nandini : Meine sunaa hai, aap Kasturi ki shaadi phir se Girish ke saath karne ki soch rahe hai.
Kaushalya (surprised) : Haan. Wahe guru ka shukr hai ke Kasturi se shaadi karne ke liye koi toh aage aaya.
Nandini : Aap buraa na maane toh mei ek baat kahu?
Kaushalya : Boliye, na.
Nandini (hesitantly) : Woh mei soch rahi thi....Agar Kasturi ki shaadi Robbie se ho jaaye toh....
Both Kasturi and Kaushalya look at her shocked. Kasturi looks very flustered and the color on her face is heightened. Kaushalya is angry.
Kaushalya : Maaf keejiye, lekin yeh kya keh rahi hai aap? Jis ladhke ki wajah se aaj hame yeh din dekhna padh rahaa hai, jis ladhke ki wajah se hamaare pure khaandaan ka naam badnaam hua hai, jis ladhke ki wajah se Kasturi ko itne dukh sehne padhe, uss se rishta???
Kasturi looks down saddened.
Kaushalya continues : Uss jaise badh-chalan, awaara, badh-dimaag aur gire hue aadmi se shaadi karaane se toh behtar hai mei apni beti kaa galaa ghont du!
Kasturi closes her eyes and winces with pain when her Mom is using those words against Robbie. Kasturi knows the truth about how Robbie is helping them but she cannot bring herself to tell her mom, she feels she cannot throw it at her mother's face. She feels very hurt that those words were spoken about her husband and that too by her mother! Nandini notices this and realizes that Kasturi still has feelings for Robbie.
Kaushalya is going on in this way when Nandini stops her.
Nandini : Please behenji, ab Robbie ko aur bhala-bura mat kahiye. Aap sacchai jaanegi toh apni baaton pe bahut sharminda hogi!
Kaushalya looks at her surprised.
Nandini continues : Aapne Robbie ka buraa roop hi dekha hai, kyonki wahi aapke saamne aaya. Uska jo accha roop hai, woh chupa hai, isiliye woh aapko nahi dikhayi diyaa.
Kya aapko pataa hai ke JP bhai saab ki naukri, Robbie ke wajah se aayi aur usi ke wajah se chal rahi hai?
Kya aapko pataa hai ke Kikoo ko apnaa business start karne ke liye, Robbie ne bank ko guarantee dee thi?
Kya aapko pataa hai ke Goel saab se Kasturi ki shaadi, Robbie ne rukvaayi hai?
Kaushalya is shocked beyond words and is staring at her.
Nandini : Aap soch rahi hai, shaayad, yeh sab mujhe kaise pataa? Mujhe issliye pataa hai kyonki char mahine pehle, meine he Robbie ko is raaste par chalne ko kahaa.
(Nandini is referring to the conversation that she and Robbie had 4 months ago. If you need to refer back to this, it is in Part 6 of my FF.)
Nandini : Jab Kasturi ki shaadi Raunak se hui, toh Robbie ek dum toot gayaa. Usse is haal mei dekhkar, meraa dil ro uttha kyonki meine bachpan se usse apnaa betaa maana aur mei jaanti thi woh andar se kitnaa accha aur narm-dil tha.
Phir ek din meine usse bahut samjhaya ke woh iss tarah apni zindagi barbaad nahi kar sakta. Jee todh mehnat karke itnaa succesful career jo usne banaaya, usse ek hi jhatke mei nahi kho saktaa. Aur meine usse jeene ke liye ek maksad bhi diyaa. Meine usse yakeen dilaaya ke woh abhi bhi Kasturi ko paa saktaa hai. Lekin usse pehle Kasturi ke parivaar kaa dil jeetna hoga. Jab meine woh baat kahi mujhe nahi maaloom tha ke ek din Raunak aur Kasturi judaa ho jaayenge!! Meine usse jhoota dilaasaa diyaa tha, taaki woh sambhal jaaye.
Lekin mei bade garv ke saath keh sakti hun, ki meraa beta sambhal gayaa! Ussne har concert mei bahut mehnat ki, ek super-hit album release kiyaa aur un sab se bhi badhkar aap logon kaa khyaal rakha.
Behen ji, mujhe galat mat samajhiye. Robbie ne aap par koi ehsaan nahi kiyaa! Ussne sirf prayshchit kiyaa hai. Ussne jo galatiyaan ki hai, uske liye iss roop mei maafi maangi hai.
She holds Kaushalya's hand
Nandini : Meri aapse ek hi vinati hai. Ho sake toh usse maaf kar deejiye. Hum sab ne koi na koi bhool zindagi mei zaroor kiye hai. Lekin jab koi praayshchit kare aur phir bhi hum usse maaf nahi kare, yeh aur bhi badi bhool hogi!
Kasturi is sitting listening. She looks gratefully at Nandini for having cleared Robbie's name and for bringin g his good self out in the open. Tears are flowing silently down her eyes for the past 10 minutes. She quietly slips away and goes to the rest room to recover and wash her face.
Kaushalya is staring at Nandini. Her eyes also become moist and she shudders thinking how wrong she was about Robbie. She looks at Nandini and says
Kaushalya : Bahut, bahut shukriya, sacchai bataane ke liye. Nahi toh hum sab isi galat fehmi me rehte aur Robbie ko koskar, bahut badaa paap karte.
She squeezes her hand and both women smile at each other. While coming back both Kasturi and Kasushalya are in thoughts. Kaushalya decides to give this information to Lalaji a little later after making sure that he has calmed down. They reach home and K immediately calls Robbie.
Kasturi : Delhi Pahunch gaye kya?
Robbie (angrily) : Nahi. These bas***ds have cancelled my flight!!
Kasturi : Oh no! Lekin kyun?
Robbie : Weather ki wajah se. Teen ghante delay kiyaa aur phir ab cancel hi kar diyaa!!!
Kasturi : Phir kab hai next flight?
Robbie : Kal subah 7.00 AM ko hai. Aaj raat ko yahin rehna padega.
Kasturi is actually very happy, that she can still go and surprise him.
Kasturi : OK. Ek hi raat ki toh baat hai. Kal milte hai.
Robbie : Haan, lunch time mei milte hai.
They talk some more and end the call. Next day, Kasturi will get ready very early and go to the airport.Robbie's flight will arrive on time and soon he will be walking out of the airport. Raunak will send a car to pick him up. As he reaches the car, he gets a call from Kasturi.
Robbie : Haan, abhi abhi pahuncha hun. Tum office mei ho?
Kasturi : Nahi
Robbie : Accha, raste mei ho?
Kasturi : Nahi, aapke saamne hun.
Slowly her words sink into his brain and he looks up to see Kasturi standing opposite to him but on the other side of the driveway.
(Guys, we hear the following song in the background during this scene. 'Saathiya' from the movie 'Love'. A very very beautiful song.)
Sathiya ye tune kya kiya… beliya ye tune kya kiya..
Maine kiya tera intezar ….itna karo na mujhe pyar…
Robbie is very very surprised and just keeps staring at her. His face broadens into a wide smile as he disconnects the call. Kasturi will smile back at him.
And they continue to look at each other.
Itni mohabbat saha na sakunga..
Sach mano zinda raha na sakunga..
Tujko samhaloo ye mera zimma
Main hu to kya gam jane tamanna…
Ab jeena marana mera.... jaanam tere hath hai..
Maine kaha na sanam …..ab tu mere sath hai..

As Kasturi is trying to cross the street, Robbie will quickly turn to the driver, give him some money and ask him to go to office in an auto as he needs the car. The driver leaves. Kasturi reaches him. He quickly opens the door for her and touches her hand while doing it. Already people have started to notice him. He quickly gets into his seat and drives out.
Dil ke chaman ka hasna to dekho
Jagi nazar ka sapna to dekhao
Aise bane hum ek jaan ek dil tu hai ke main hu
Kahena ho mushkil..
Jhoka basanti hai tu ..tan hai gulabi mera..
Do rang milne ke baad hote nahi hai juda..
To phir samhal..dil yeh chala ..
Jana kaha ..aa dil me aa…
He will quickly take the car to a remote place in the parking lot and park it. He turns around and they hug.
Robbie (kissing her maang) : Oh baby, I really really missed you. Bataa nahi sakta kitnaa miss kiyaa!
And hugs her tighter.
Kasturi (in a shy voice) : meine bhi. isiliye subah subah chali aayee.
Robbie : Thank you! This is one of the best surprises in my life. Pataa hai, tumhe wahaan dekh kar mujhe kya lagaa ? Mukhe lagaa bhagwan zaroor hai, aur woh hamari prarthana sunte bhi hai!!
Kasturi smiles. Then they slowly let go of each other.
Robbie : Chalo tumhe office chod deta hun. Meraa bhi 9.30 koh ek appointment hai.
He drives her to work.
Robbie : 12.30 tak aa jaaunga, theek hai?
Kasturi nods and leaves. Robbie is back at sharp 12.30 PM. They go to eat lunch.
Robbie : Kasturi, tumhaare birthday ke liye meine jo plan banaaya, uske liye hume out-of-town jaana padhegaa.
Kasturi looks at him horrified.
Robbie : I know, I know...its very difficult for you. Sirf ek din aur ek raat ki baat hai. Mumkin hoga kya?
Kasturi : Problem yeh hai ke, meraa birthday ghar mei sabko yaad rehta hai! Agar uss din mei baahar rahi, toh zaroor sawaal uthenge! Aur raat ko baahar rehne ki baat toh mumkin hi nahi hai.
Robbie (looking wistfully at her) : Tum kitni lucky ho Kasturi, jo tumhaare ghar mei har kisiko tumhaara birthday yaad rehta hai!!!
Kasturi senses something wrong in his voice and says
Kasturi : Meraa toh sirf mere parivaar waalon ko yaad rehta hai, aapka toh laakhon logon ko yaad rehta hai!!
Robbie : Lekin jisne mujhe janam diyaa, usko toh yaad nahi rehta.
Kasturi understands that he is referring to his dad and reaches across the table to hold his hand. She knows that Robbie does not get along with his dad but she never understood why. She will make a mental note of asking him that at a later date.
Robbie : Khair chodo! Toh ab kya kiyaa jaaye?
He thinks for a minute and then his eyes brighten up.
Robbie : Excellent plan! Mei apnaa plan Saturday ko shift kar detaa hun. Aur Saturday midnight ko jab tumhaara birthday start hoga, toh I will be the first one to wish you!!!!! Lekin iske liye tumhe Saturday office se leave lenaa padega aur raat ko koi bahaana banaana padega.
Kasturi will also love the plan and she will agree.
Robbie : Ek aur baat, pataa hai aaj meraa appointment kiske saath tha? BCCI!
Kasturi looks at him questioningly : BCCI?
Robbie : Board of Control for Cricket in India. Woh meraa ek show rakhna chahte hai, Team India ke honour mei, jo haal hi mei World championsip jeetkar aaya hai.
Kasturi (eyes wide) : WOW!!
Robbie : Mei chahta hun tum aao. Yeh 'By invite only' show hai. Issliye mei tumhaare liye ek pass arrange karta hun.
Kasturi : Woh... actually mei soch rahi thi....mujhe lagaa ki....
She is hesitating
Robbie : Kya?
Kasturi (in a small voice) : Navneet ko sports bahut pasand hai aur Tanu ko aap kaa music.......toh mei soch rahi thi woh bhi bahut enjoy karenge.
Robbie (smiles) : No problem , unke liye bhi arrange kar doonga.
Kasturi : Aur Kikoo aur Siya ko bhi cricket bahut pasand hai...........
Robbie (laughs) : Theek hai, unko bhi laana. Woh sab aa rahe hai toh yahi better hoga ke mei Divya ke haath passes deliver karaau. Mei uss se kahunga. Aur haan, pehle nakhre karnaa, phir passes lene ke liye maan jaana, varna Divya ko shak ho jaayega. Meri behen bahut sharp hai, you know!
Kasturi will make a face at him and decide to make him a little mad.
Kasturi : Waise, kab hai concert? Sab honge na wahaan? Waise mujhe Yuvraj ji bahut pasand hai. Kitne handsome hai na woh?
