Its been KTH revamped right from the start. 2 friends-cum-partners (60%/40%) living under one roof with their families and one of the wives unhappy of the arrangement and plotting (for many years) to drive away the lesser percentaged family out of the house and finds an opportunity when her son grows up and falls in love with a lesser mortal. So she creates a rift between the 2 lovers and gets the poor girl married off to her son's best friend/brother like so that the friction between the 2 brothers turn them into foes leading to the split between the 2 families !!

The only difference is that in KTH the lady and her family were not so badly humiliated like Kasturi (who was called a call-girl). The mehndi scene in Kasturi was really disgusting and unbearable to watch where even her mother's dupatta was used as a rag-cloth.
