Top that with Ekta K who is quite active herself on social media and recently got into a spat with viewers who reviewd her new film unfavorably.
Everyone wants the buzz that comes from online activity and online viewing.. Because a show becomes viral only thanks to online engagement.
Also add to this fact that it is not just people like us who are online today. The core Television viewership is also switching to youtube/voot/hotstar for repeat viewing.
I am not too sure about India but in US, the Nielsen rating or the GRP rating (which determines the cost of any ad spot) measures digital activity faithfully. I am sure India TRPs will change their method too.
