Small screen sizzle...

Booze, music and ladies… Rohit Roy certainly loves all three. And as expected, there was a good dose of these at the pre-New Year bash he and wife Manasi hosted on Monday evening.

It seemed that the entire television fraternity had turned up for the party. Filmi personalities like Perizaad Zorabian and Subhash Ghai also made their presence felt. Of course, badey bhaiyya Ronit welcomed the guests rather warmly (he pecked all the pretty girls on their cheeks as wife Neelam looked on). All in all it was a great party, though we hear that not many people were seen shaking a leg.

Television actor Ronit Roy's security agency will provide security for Aamir's wedding. Not many know that Roy and Aamir have been friends since the early days of Aamir's career. Roy also provided security for Lagaan.

But Aamir managed to hoodwink the media and his fans again by travelling in a Volvo bus which was heavily curtained. His Mercedes followed the bus. When the media objected to the security men about stopping them from using a public road, they started pushing male and female reporters (including this After Hours journalist). Two reporters from Mumbai-based publications were injured while the camera of an India TV reporter was broken.

Actor Ronit Roy, who heads Ace Securities which is guarding the venue, came out and instead of apologising, kept demanding, "Were you personally attacked?" Soon after, all the security men were bundled out of the venue in a van. The reporters later lodged a complaint against Ronit Roy and Aamir Khan and also demanded an apology.

While Aamir seemed hardly concerned about the media, Suresh Pawar, Dy SP, Panchgani, promised to take action. Deputy Chief Minister RR Patil also called the local police after the situation at Panchgani was beamed on TV and asked them to sort out the matter immediately.

Later in the evening, Ronit Roy did apologise for the incident and reportedly sacked the two securitymen in question.

The intensely private Aamir Khan faced the wrath of mediapersons who had gathered to cover his wedding in Panchgani on Tuesday. As the actor celebrated his wedding with friends in a hotel, the waiting presspersons had little to celebrate: they were, in fact, unceremoniously shooed away and not even allowed to wait along the approach road to the hotel.

A group of angry mediapersons then filed an NC in the local police station against Ronit Roy's 'Ace Security and Protection' that Aamir had hired to keep prying folks at bay.

According to mediapersons, the overzealous security personnel 'guarding' the road leading to the hotel seemed to have overlooked the fact that the 150-odd meter patch was a public road. An angry photographer complained, "The road belongs to the PWD. There is no reason why we shouldn't be allowed to walk on it."

And it wasn't just mediapersons who bore the brunt; apparently, even the locals weren't spared. "Natives have been complaining because they aren't allowed to use the road they frequent every day. This is ridiculous," the lensman said.

Commenting further on the behaviour of the security guards, he noted, "One of them challenged us to a hand-to-hand duel. Another one even manhandled a woman journalist."

It was only after a cop came down and ordered the guards to lay off that they allowed the media to go up to the hotel gate. Meanwhile, Ronit Roy stepped out, apologised to the journalists and assured that the guards responsible for the situation would be sacked.
