Kasautii . . . revamped! article

Komolika, the mother of all vamps on television, is back after a year. Her re-entry in Kasautii Zindagi Kay may just give a bit of zing to the flagging TRPs of the soap

Balaji Telefilms' most famous vamp Urvashi Dholakia aka Komolika is back doing what she does best. The actress is making a grand new entry on the show. (There was a hint of this yesterday.) The storyline will now see her bonding with protagonist Prerna's (Shweta Tiwari) grand-daughter P2 (Prerna 2) played by Kritika Singhal. Urvashi, who has shot night-long for the show says, "It feels good to be back. I'm sporting a new look this time around."

Urvashi is sporting a posh cut, a la Victoria Beckham with blonde streaks et al. However, she hasn't yet ditched her heavy, traditional six-yard saree. "I have just given away the super long hair for this chic cut. I wanted to look different for my second innings, and that's what my hairstylist Perrii Patel too agreed on," she says.

In circles where it matters the most, the buzz is that soap maker Ekta Kapoor wanted to bring her favourite vamp back to give a boost to the present TRPs of the show. The negative character for so long, Sampada Vaze (Moonmoon) has now made an exit. Dorris De, creative head on the show says, "It's a strategic move to get Komolika back. With her around, you don't need any other villains. So, Sampada goes out making way for Komolika."

Another theory doing the rounds is that, the production house had a tough time to sweet-talk Urvashi to do the show as she has been busy doing Comedy Circus and working on her film scripts. Says a reliable source from Balaji Telefilms, "Urvashi is one of the busiest actresses and getting dates was a difficult task." Adds Dorris De, "We had planned Urvashi's entry during the generation leap but there were certain issues. Now she is here for good."

Coming back to the storyline, Komolika will not be seen scheming and prying at the outset. She has just returned from her long-extended holiday. She will be seen taking crucial decisions and eventually the bahus in the Garewal family are going to be at her mercy.
