Desperate measures!

Shweta Tiwari and Raja Chaudhary at the launch of a toothpaste brand last week Only last week, Shweta Tiwari made a public appearance for a product launch with husband Raja Chaudhary and daughter Palak (they have modelled for the toothbrush company as a family). The couple seemed at peace with each other. However, things changed dramatically over the weekend after it came to light that Shweta (better known as Kasautii Zindagii Kay's Prerna Bajaj) filed a non-cognisable offence of assault and forcefully taking away their daughter Palak against Raja at the Malad police station. According to Shweta's cousin and telly actor Raj Logani (Saathi Re), "The last time I met didi was two months back. I've been flooded with calls from friends and relatives but no one really knows what went wrong. I've known Raja for a long time and he never seemed the sort to harm Shweta. But he is extremely possessive of her." When asked about Raja's tryst with alcohol, he says, "Yes, he enjoys a drink or two once in a while, but some people have implied that he uses drugs. He would never do that. Raja is very much in control of himself even after a few pegs of alcohol." Saying that the fight could be a mere ego clash, Logani says, "For a long time, Raja was known only as Shweta Tiwari's husband, but after Nach Baliye 2, things changed. I refuse to believe that he has asked her for money. It's probably that he is frustrated that his career is not going anywhere." No room at home When HiTLIST visited Shweta and Raja's home Shiv Shakti in Malad, it was locked. Inquiries in the neighbourhood reveal that ever since Shweta filed the complaint, the doors have been locked. It is learnt that Shweta has shifted to a relative's house. Further inquiries reveal that Raja spent the night at Privilege Inn Hotel, just a few blocks away from their home. Sources at the hotel confirm that Raja checked in on Saturday along with his brother and parents, soon after Shweta filed the complaint. According to the hotel source, "They occupied two rooms (407, 409) and looked disturbed. Soon, some police officers arrived at the hotel to question Raja." The family left the hotel soon after and were said to be leaving for their hometown, Meerut. Incidentally this is not the first time, a police complaint has been filed against Raja for bad behaviour. Two years ago, actress Dolly Bindra had alleged that Raja "outraged her modesty" at a party. In an FIR filed with the Juhu police station, the actress accused Chaudhary of violent conduct in an inebriated state. The incident occurred at a party thrown by actor Anuj Saxena to launch his production house, Maverick. All for the film? Raja Chaudhary makes his debut as a producer with the Bhojpuri film Hamar Saiyyan Hindustani. He is also producing a Hinglish film titled My Second Honour. A source reveals that the police complaint could be a publicity stunt by Shweta and Raja to promote their film. "Raja's Bhojpuri film is due for release soon. It could very well have been orchestrated by Raja to attract attention as the film's plot is similar to what is happening right now."

Shweta Tiwari accuses husband of physical abuse

Posted at Sunday, 17 June 2007 13:06 IST New Delhi, June 17: Television actress Shweta Tiwari today filed a non-cognizable complaint against her hubby Raja Chowdhary accusing him of physical abuse, Sahara Samay sources said.

The complaint was filed with the Malad Police station in Mumbai, the sources said.

Shweta shot to limelight with the character of Prerna that she played in Balaji's Kasauti Zindagi Ki.

The couple was last seen together on the dance show Nach Baliye 2.

Shweta, who has been married to Raja for over eight years, approached the police on Saturday evening. The couple has a five-year-old daughter. Sources said police are likely to question Chaudhari. According to police, the couple's relationship was strained and they had frequent fights. On Saturday, they allegedly had another such argument. Chaudhari's career as an actor has not taken off, but the two had become fairly prominent during the telecast of the Nach Baliye show on Star. Insiders say there was a degree of acrimony even on the show's sets. "On the sets, Shweta would be rude to Raja in front of the other actors which would upset him. He even missed one performance," said a source. Shweta had acted in movies before she got a break with Balaji Telefilms. The actor has been associated with the popular show 'Kasauti Zindagi Kee' for the past six years.

It's confounding why even celebrities choose to keep physical abuse under wraps

Shweta Tiwari has apparently been driven to a point where she had no choice but lodge a complaint against her husband, Raja Chaudhury, the fact is, she is not ready to divulge details. Earlier, Kangana Ranaut lodged a police complaint against her mentor and boyfriend Aditya Panscholi only after he allegedly abused her and punched her in an autorikshaw in broad daylight. Even though she was bold enough to lodge a complaint, she chose to keep mum when it came to speaking about it!

Shweta Tiwari, who made the character of Prerna Bajaj in Kasautii Zindagii Kay famous, has lodged a police complaint against her husband Raja Chaudhary of assaulting her and forcibly taking away daughter Palak from her. The actress has accused her husband of subjecting her to domestic violence under the influence of liquor. After the complaint, Shweta has shifted to a relative's house while her husband Raja and other family members spent their night at the hotel Privilege Inn, near their house Shiv Shakti. After the night, Raja's father and other family members have moved to Meeerut, their home town. Raj Logani, Shweta's cousin, sees this only as an instance of ego clash. As he explains, ' For a long time Raja was known only as Sweta Tiwari's husband, but after Nach Baliye 2, things changed. I refuse to believe that he has asked her for money. It's probably that he is frustrated that his career is not going anywhere. I have known Raja for a long time and he never seemed the sort to harm Shweta. But he is extremely possessive of her.' However, this was not for the first time that Raja has been accused of his wayward behaviour. Around two years ago, Dolly Bindra had filed a police complaint against him at Juhu police station accusing him of violent behaviour in an inebriated state.

Shweta files case against husband

Husband beat her, alleges actress (l-r) Raja with daughter Palak and wife Shweta Tiwari Shweta Tiwari, better known as Prerna Bajaj of Kasautii Zindagi Kay filed a complaint of assault against her husband Raja Chaudhary at Malad Police Station on Saturday evening. The television actress alleged that her husband beat her up on Saturday, under the influence of alcohol. According to sources, Chaudhary assaulted her after drinking on earlier occasions too. The relationship between the couple was strained since some time and they had frequent fights too, said sources. Chaudhary was unemployed for some time, which led to the friction, sources added. Malad Police station has registered a non-cognisable offence against Chaudhary.

MUMBAI: The Mumbai police have registered a case against popular TV actor Shweta Tiwari's husband Raja Chaudhari for allegedly assaulting her. Shweta, who has been married to Raja for over eight years, approached the police on Saturday evening. The couple has a five-year-old daughter. Sources said police are likely to question Chaudhari.

According to police, the couple's relationship was strained and they had frequent fights. On Saturday, they allegedly had another such argument.
