Vikas Sethi usurps Manoj Bohra in Kasautii Zindagii Kay. It was well overdue say Balaji's telly pundits!
Balaji just can't get enough of plastic surgeries and musical chairs. After Hiten Tejwani replacing Cezanne Khan in Kasautii Zindagii Kay, another replacement has been made in the show. This time, it's Manoj Bohra who has been replaced by Vikas Sethi in the show. What is ironic about this merry-go-round though is that it was Manoj Bohra who gave the show a new lease of life when it was going through rough weather with its TRPs.
It was his stylised innings as Prem that actually gave a new lease of life to the show. Yet, no bad blood. It seems that the show was slated for those generation leaps that are so the staple of soaps and Manoj just didn't want to mature! It was this stubborn stance that sealed his fate with the serial. Yet, the situation only got odder because the production house just couldn't find anyone to play a withered, old Prem. Needless to say, the actor had to carry on with his character. Finally, Balaji did rope in Vikas Sethi to play the character. A relieved Manoj says, "I am happy that Vikas is going to do the honours. I am sure he is going to add a new value to the show."
Vikas Sethi, on the other hand is very excited about his latest association with another Balaji show. More importantly, he isn't facing any egotistical, identity crisis with being a 'replacement' either. To this, he says "Firstly, as an actor I am game for any role that is good. Prem's role is a new challenge for me, and so I do not have any hassle being a 'replacement'. Moreover, Kasautii is a safe bet as it is already popular among the audiences," he says.
Vikas, in turn, is also all praise when it comes to the man responsible for his new avatar: Manoj Bohra. "Undoubtedly, Manoj has done a fabulous job with Prem's role. But, I am going to portray the role in my own way." What about playing an aged character? "If Hussain and Hiten can play fathers and grandfathers in their shows, why should I be worried? The audience is very mature and they know it's just a character. I am certain Kasautii... is going to attain new heights in near future," he adds. Well, two thumbs up for telly-professionalism. This is truly mature, guys!
