Mohnish won't wait Kayamath tak

The actor opted out of the show after his role was stretched beyond the required period; Ronit Roy will replace him

I'm Off: Mohnish Behl

Mohnish Behl is out from Ekta Kapoor's Kayamath, which recently went on air on Star Plus.

Ronit Roy will now play Behl's role of Inder Shah — father of the leading lady Prachi (played by Panchi Bora).

Behl has quit the show three days back and Roy will make an entry some time this week.

Prior commitment

Behl had been told that he would be required only until March 31. His character was supposed to die by that time, but the role got extended.

When contacted, Behl confirms that he is not doing the show anymore, "I had given dates to Balaji until the end of March. In April, I have other commitments.

Main Hoon Naa: Ronit Roy

I have signed two films with Vikram Bhatt. Plus, I have to complete one old film, co-starring Sunil Shetty and Raveena Tandon.

Also, I have to attend an art auction to be held in Hyderabad."

Behl says he would have loved to continue but then he would have to put his other projects on the backburner.

"That would have been unprofessional. If my role had gone as per the original plan, I would have completed my part by now.

Since there were a few creative changes in the initial stages of the show, I had to re-shoot some of my scenes. This, in turn, stretched the role beyond March-end."

Can't say no

Nivedita Basu, the creative head of Kayamath says, "We had no problems with Mohnish. He had clearly told us that he would be available for a short period of time. We have chosen Ronit Roy, who will also do a very good job."

Says Roy, "I am cool doing Kayamath. I think I'll be there for approximately 15 episodes. Plus I am doing Kyunki... and Kasautii Zindgii Kay. If it's a Balaji show, I can never say no. Balaji is family to me."
