The serial explores the trials and tribulations faced by both families and the test of time that the children of Prerna Sharma (Shweta Tiwari) and Anurag Basu (Cesanne Khan) go through amid unfavourable circumstances. Characters

Rajesh Sharma
A simple, straightforward man, Sharma comes from a middle-class background and lives with his wife and five children. He is a good friend of his boss, Moloy. The two of them started off at the same level in their business, but Sharma got left behind thanks to his strong ethical sense. Sharma works for Moloy, but the two deal with each other as friends and want to cement their friendship into a family tie.



Veena
Sharma's wife respects him greatly and loves her children. She has stood by Sharma's side through trying times and has not been bitter about Moloy's growth. She, too, would like to see her daughter, Prerna, married to Moloy's son, Anurag.



Shekhar
Shekhar is Sharma's eldest son. He is married to Suman. He works as an assistant marketing manager for a real estate agency. He is a diligent worker.



Suman
Suman's first child was stillborn, and she has been unable to conceive after that. She works as a receptionist for an export house. She is a capable worker and is also the perfect bahu to the Sharmas.



Prerna
The second child of Rajesh and Veena, Prerna is very intelligent. She is Anurag's classmate, but doesn't talk much to him, since they are both aware of the class difference between them. She falls in love with Anurag only when their fathers see to it that they are thrown more often into each other's company.



Moloy Basu
Moloy is scared of his wife, Mohini. His son controls his office and his wife controls their home. Moloy is thus left with a lot of free time in which he keeps cooking up weird plans. He is very close to Rajesh Sharma.



Mohini Basu
Mohini is a snooty, class-conscious lady who moves around in high social circles. She cannot tolerate the fact that Moloy mingles freely with his employees. She hopes to see her son, Anurag, married into a very rich family.



Anurag
An honest and straightforward person, Anurag's life revolves around office and college. He runs the family business on his own. He falls in love with Prerna, but has to face the ire of his class-conscious mother.



Komolika
A sly, conniving person, Komolika is the spoilt daughter of rich parents. She embodies pettiness. She hails from a rich family and nothing makes her happier than wrecking homes.

Mukti:-Tina has tried her acting skills both in serious role and comedy. She started off by doing balaji's Kahaani Ghar Ghar kii and Khichadi. She has done many cameos in balaji's various soaps like Kahiin To Hoga and Kasautii Zindagi Ki.
