Raheja College buzzes with media talk

On Sunday, the L S Raheja College of Arts & Commerce (BMM faculty) organised a seminar — Ankur — on ambient advertising, to make the students aware of and the various aspects of media analysis.
The seminar started with the lighting of the lamp by Manjula Srinivas, chairperson of BMM faculty, University of Mumbai. The chief guest of the day was Ronit Roy, of Kyunki Saas... fame.
The enthusiasm of the students spilled over when Roy took the mike. He spoke to students on ways to handle the television medium.
Sharon Picardo, group manager of FCB Ulka Advertising, was the first one to enlighten students on ambient advertising, a metro phenomenon yet to capture the Indian masses. Dale Bhagwagar, proprietor of Right Publicity, was the next speaker, giving students tips on entertainment PR.
Post-lunch, Mayank Shekhar, film critic, enthralled students with a speech on how they should take risks in order to escape a run-of-the-mill existence. Anjali Doshi, principal correspondent of Hindustan Times, highlighted the media's handling of the 26/7 deluge, 7/11 blasts, bird flu and Pramod Mahajan cases.
Producer of Being Cyrus, Dinesh Vijan gave tips on how to become a producer. The last speaker of the day was Aminah Sheikh, who covered aspects of citizen journalism.
