What'sin a name? Lots if you happen to share a name with at least half a dozen people in the business you're in. So what's common between Tiwari, Keswani, Salve, Kawaatra and Gulati? They all have 'Shweta' as their first name. We're sure the five Shwetas have had enough trouble taking calls that were meant for some other Shweta or explaining to fans that they were not the Shweta they were looking for. Maybe that's why Salve spells her name as 'Shveta' and Keswani calls it 'Swetta'. We're sure each of them has confronted this identity crisis one time or another and with more and more aspiring
actors waiting to get into TV, we expect the current crop of Shwetas will have more competition, at least in terms of the name. Here's a rough guide to tell one Shweta from the next.
Shweta Tiwari She plays Prerna, the quintessential prime time bahu-beti-ma all rolled into one in Ekta Kapoor's Kasauti Zindagi Kay. Pretty and with a smile that could light up a room, you won't find her on Page 3 so much as on the inside pages of the entertainment section for the constant stream of barbs she directs at one Cezanne Khan, who incidentally happens to be her romantic lead in the show. Tiwari still rules the five-year-old Ksoap and has even performed in a Hindi comedy play and will soon hit the dance floor in the second season of Star One's Nach Baliye with husband Raja Chaudhary. Shweta Kawaatra Again a product of Ekta Kapoor's 'K' factory, Kawaatra continues to be the first lady of negative roles in television. Her claim to fame is her role of the antagonist, Pallavi, in Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki. While she may no longer play the vamp, she re mains the face that couch potatoes love-tohate. Occasionally spotted on the party circuit, either solo or with husband Manav Gohil, she's not known to take on any and every role. Kawaatra not only stands out from her namesakes but also from the rest of the prime time crowd. Like Tiwari, Kawaatra too will soon be seen grooving on Nach Baliye 2. Shveta Salve She's the sexiest of all the Shwetas with talent to boot. Unfortunately, you don't see as much of her as you'd like to. That's because she feels she's too much of a 'today's' woman to be strait-jacketed into the conventional character of the simpering bahu — although we're convinced she can pull off even one of those with conviction. Currently seen in Deeya and Tony Singh's serial Left Right Left, she plays a suave psychiatrist. Salve is also set to shake a leg with a professional dancer in Sony's forthcoming celebrity-dancer
reality show, Jhalak Dikkhla Jaa. Swetta Keswani Petite and positively chirpy, Keswani's career graph is anything but predictable. From playing positive and negative roles in serials to hosting comedy shows and almost winning in the first season of
Fear Factor India to theatre — she recently staged a play based on the experiences of last year's deluge — Keswani has done it all. An actor capable of delivering, she's always running short of good projects. Keswani is her own woman, living by her own rules and breaking them too. Shweta Gulati She was part of Shrishti Arya's teenage show Remix. Still known as Tia, her screen name, Gulati recently made her stage debut in a Hindi play K-K-K-Kiran in which she played a mannequin. Biding her time till the next small screen offer comes along, Gulati is temporarily away from the idiot box.
