Here's a look at the top 10 Hindi shows on television:
1. Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi
Channel: Star Plus
Producers: Balaji Telefilms
Time: Monday to Friday, 10:30 pm
TVR: 12.84
It's been the numero uno of the Indian television industry for more than five years now. To its credit, Kyun Ki still has magical magnetic powers that attract viewers from age 8 to 80.
Now with the introduction of the new generation including Balaji's latest find -- Mouni Roy (left, Krishna Tulsi) the serial looks all set to rule the scene for another few years at least. Or until the time viewers get sick and tired of the perennial list of problems bugging the Virani family.
2, Kahani Ghar Ghai Ki
Channel: Star Plus
Producers: Balaji Telefilms
Time: Monday to Thursday, 10 pm
TVR: 10.54
While other serials were incorporating 20 year leaps in the age of the characters, Kahani tried something very bold. It got its sati-savitri bahu -- Parvati Bhabhi remarried!
The risk they faced: the audience would be able to digest the second marriage of someone considered to be the epitome of a cultured Indian woman. But Balaji packaged it well. Parvati's reason for marrying Mr Mehra was to take revenge for her husband Om's murder. The result? Kahani is the number two show in the country today.
3. Kasauti Zindegi Kay
Channel: Star Plus
Producers: Balaji Telefilms
Time: Monday to Friday, 8:30 pm
TVR: 9.22
The idea of time-leaps in serials seem to be working well for Balaji. Kasauti Zindegi Kay took a five-year leap recently. Now Mr Bajaj is absconding and Prerna is on the streets.
Coupled with the entry of the mother of all vamps, Komolika, Kasauti seems to have gained a lot of lost ground and climbed back to the number three slot.
