Shweta's pati 'tyre'd out

smashed! Raja's ravaged car pic/PRADEEP DHIVAR

Raja Chaudhary was returning from a shoot in Mahabaleshwar when his car's tyres burst on the Expressway

Raja Chaudhary recently met with a car accident, while returning from Mahabalesh-war, where he was shooting for a film and his Toyota Corolla skid on the Mumbai–Pune Expressway. Three tyres of his car burst on the spot, rotating the car in a full circle before coming to a crashing halt.
Describing what happened, Raja said, "We were travelling from Mahabaleshwar to Mumbai when it happened. I don't know what went wrong, but all of a sudden there was a loud blast and we realised the tyres had gone flat. Since the car was on the Expressway, we were driving at a high speed. I sustained some injuries to my ribs."
Miraculous escape
Shweta recalled the horror of seeing her car smashed to pieces. "I literally fainted when I saw our car. It is no less than a miracle that Raja emerged out without any major injury from this accident."
Tiwari added that had her schedule permitted, she would have also joined her husband on the trip back from Mahabaleshwar. "I didn't have lot of scenes in Kasautii due to my jail track, so I was thinking about staying back a day and returning home with Raja. However, I had to cancel that plan and get back home earlier than I thought."
On hearing that Raja had not met with any serious injury, Shweta not only thanked her stars, but also decided to hold a small pooja. "I am going to do a small havan to thank God for his blessings on our family."
Haunting memories
Tiwari said that Raja's friend's car, which was just a couple of miles behind theirs, also met with a similar fate. "It's weird because even his friend's car tyres burst on the same day. I think one needs to be extra careful while driving on the Expressway."
Currently, Tiwari is using her other car for work purposes. "It will take time before we get our Corolla on the road again. Till then, I'm using my Skoda. When asked if she had a memorable trip in Mahabaleshwar, she said, "It kept raining most of the time, so we had to stay indoors. But more than my stay, it's the accident that keeps coming back to me. Every time I look at my damaged car, I pray that something like this never comes back to haunt me."

glad to have made it out alive: Raja Chaudhary
