Urvashi

Urvashi
TV actress

"I'd be uncomfortable doing Mallika Sherawat kind of scenes"

Rakhi > As a serious actress with a theater background, do you feel any frustrations when you find quality being compromised on commercial TV serials?
Urvashi > Well, at times you do feel (it) when you are particularly shooting a scene. It may take hours to do the scene but still you may not feel satisfied by the end of the day because theatre and television are two different fields completely. In the sense, in theater you have too many rehearsals but as far as television is concerned you get the script at the last minute and don't have much (time) to improvise and probably that's where the compromise takes place.

Wajoo > Hello M'am ! As an ardent fan of yours from Pakistan I want to know what does it feel to have so much fame and fortune?
Urvashi > It feels very nice to be acknowledged and loved by people not just from our own country but from other countries too even after playing the worst one on the television.

Shradha > What actually did you receive from this television industry
Urvashi > I have got everything that any girl or person at 26 would desire for and mostly it is the acceptance by all (of) you people.

Ashu777map41 > How did you become an actress and which serial do you like the most
Urvashi > Well, the world of acting opened up for me at the age of six. It's been exactly 20 years now. Hence, it is a very long story to say how it started. For me television is very exciting so I like most of the shows.

Nekkaqueen > Are you planning to come in others serial also?
Urvashi > Well, if you wish to see me in more shows then I shall definitely do so.

Smack > Do you identify with Kamolika at all? Do you think such characters actually exist in real life?
Urvashi > No, personally I do not (identify) at all. You can't really say that they exist or they don't. But, as we have been seeing the world, we do know that there are all kinds of people existing here.

Rahul > With the kind of negative women characters being shown on TV these days (Ramola Sikand etc), do you think it's sending out the right message to the people about women? Do you feel any responsibility as to how you are contributing to the society?
Urvashi > Well, we are not here to send any kind of messages to women as such. We are basically doing our job. That's acting as we are in the entertainment world. And we are not the only women who you have seen in negative characters. Our industry has created legends from yesteryears negative (onscreen) characters. As far as contributing to the society goes, I as Urvashi Dholakia in person am a very responsible member of the society.

Urva > Kamolika has overshadowed even your own personality. Do you think personally you will get type cast in a negative role? And no one will offer you a positive role?
Urvashi > Komolika has in no way overshadowed my own personality, as there are thousands of people who till today relate to me today as Urvashi. As far as getting typecast in a negative role is concerned, that might not just be true but then by the end of the day let's see if you accept me in a positive way.

Dfsdff > What's your dressing style in real life - conservative?
Urvashi > What do you mean by conservative? Well, I am a normal girl, wearing normal clothes; just a regular jeans and t-shirt.

Shama > Please don't waste your talent in stupid item numbers....
Urvashi > Well, thank you for being concerned but the item number you saw was shot about two-and-half-years ago and I simply did it out of relations ...

Poonam > Ma'm, can I please know any unforgettable moment you have been through on sets?
Urvashi > My most unforgettable moment on the set was the first day of my shoot of Kasauti......... I have never been nervous the way I was and that makes it the most unforgettable moment for me.

Ashu777map41 > Who is your best friend from the Kasauti serial in real life and what do you do in your spare time?
Urvashi > My best friend from the Kasauti unit is Cezanne (Anurag). I sleep in my spare time ...

Nekkaqueen > Are you planning to act in films or have got offers
Urvashi > No plans to act in movies as of now. Offers come and go but my choice is very clear.

Dfsdff > I would love to be able to carry myself as you do on screen. Any tips?
Urvashi > I don't know how I managed it myself. As far as tips go just be confident in yourself.

Honey > Who else is there in your family?
Urvashi > My parents, my brother, my soul mate (Shanela) and last but not the least my kids (twin boys).

Nekkaqueen > When is your birthday?
Urvashi > 9 th of July.

Racker > Will you agree to do a Mallika Sherawat kind of role (film- Murder) or agree to so much skin show and steamy scenes with other actors even if the character demands it? Where is the line that you would draw for yourself?
Urvashi > I am very comfortable in what I am doing. And no, I would be uncomfortable doing Mallika Sherawat kind of scenes. I know where to draw my lines.

Nowa > You were a child model. What ads did you do as a child?
Urvashi > You are putting me in a time machine and taking me back 15 years. It's very difficult but let me try. I did ads like Candy biscuits, Dippy Sip (drink), Singer sewing machines, Mediker, Godrej baby puff..........

Ashu777map41 > What is your best moment in life?
Urvashi > The birth of my kids...

Cul_guy > Are you married? When? To whom? For how many years now?
Urvashi > If I have kids then definitely yes I am married. But I am separated for the last eight years.

Jigna > Read somewhere that you have not taken any formal acting training. Do you feel the need to train as an actress? Do you think you would have been a better actress if you had trained?
Urvashi > Well, I have bettered my self as an actress in the years. And as far as needing acting training goes then I don't think I need any formal training.

Mekni > Will you act in Hindi films? How come with your kind of popularity you are still not a part of Hindi films?
Urvashi > I don't know if I would act in Hindi films and the popularity that I have got is thanks to you people. So I'd rather wish for you to accept me there when I do films.

June89 > Hey, where did you disappear after Dek h Bhai Dekh ? And what did you learn form that serial?
Urvashi > I disappeared into the life of marriage after Dekh Bhai Dekh . Though I did not learn anything from the show but I did learn a lot from marriage.

Raj1in1978 > I wonder how you pronounce your expression in eyes? I know it's your art but do you reflect this out of your excitement on the scene or you do this as a part of role?
Urvashi > Classical dance has taught me my eye expressions and I use it as an advantage to acting.

Poonam > What's your latest and (was) first crush?
Urvashi > First is too old to remember. And latest is Shah Rukh Khan.

Rakhi > What was the turning point in your life?
Urvashi > Well, it's still to come and when it does come, the world will know.
