Transcript of LIVE CHAT with TV actress, Shubha Verma at 12 noon on Friday, May 20, 2005 in Mumbai Shubha Verma TV actress "Acting was a dream, which I definitely wanted to fulfill. Otherwise, in Sydney I was (dealing) in marketing and property." Raj > Hi, TV (serials) in India is full of sati-savitri (pious) looking women and audiences seem to love them. Do you think you can make an impact with your ultra mod-western look? Shubha Verma > Yes, definitely I can make an impact. It's not only the clothes that one wears, it is also the personality and characteristics that matter. And I feel that my character is a lot younger so teenagers are able to relate to me. Shabnam > Hi Shubha, when and why did your family move to Australia? Shubha Verma > My grandparents have been there since over 45 years. Basically, we are from Australia and my family is still in Sydney. I am the only one that has come down to Mumbai for acting. Poonam > What made you take part in a beauty pageant in Australia? Shubha Verma > I was forced to take part by family and friends and the organisers. The organisers knew me and they needed more contestants, so I joined in. Saucy > What sort of response have you received from TV audience till now for your role as "Tanisha"? Shubha Verma > My track is just starting, in the sense you will only get to see what I am really like now. I haven't really got much feedback as yet, apart from the fact that people are noticing me because of the clothes I wear (smiles). Rahul > How good is your Hindi? Don't you face the language problem while acting? Are you taking any classes to polish your Hindi diction? Shubha Verma > I learnt Hindi when I came to India (a year back). I did face a problem, especially because of my accent. However, I can read and write in Hindi. So, I read newspapers and magazines in Hindi, which help me improve the language. Shubaverma > Who is your favourite actor? Shubha Verma > In Hollywood it's Tom Hanks. In Bollywood - Aamir Khan. Deadly_dragon > Are you going to try in Bollywood? Have you received any offers? Shubha Verma > I have recd offers recently and it really depends on the storyline. At the moment I am very happy in Balaji Productions serial. If something good comes my way for Bollywood, I will definitely take it up. Kasauti_fan > Hi Shubha. Who from the star cast of Kasauti Zindgai Kay (KZK) do you get along the best? Shubha Verma > Everyone in the young generation. I probably have the best laugh with Cezanne Khan (Anurag) and Urvashi (Komolika). They are all light hearted and we joke around. Everyone in KZK is very warm and sweet . Misbah > What about your role in KZK ? Shubha Verma > I love the role as I have grey shades so I get to play with many emotions. First of all, I am completely madly in love with Shravan (Abhinav Kapoor) on screen and second of all, I have fought with my childhood best friend (Kasak) in order to have Shravan in my life. And as my character grows, you will see more shades evolve in it (my character). Laughlivelove > Hey Shubha, you have a very strong Australian accent when you speak parts of the dialogues in English in KZK Were you born in Australia? How long did you live there for? Shubha Verma > I wasn't born there. I was born in Bangalore. But I have been in Sydney since I was a baby. Laughlivelove > Are you similar to "Tanisha" (your onscreen character) in real life? If you loved a man, who was engaged in real life to somebody else, would you personally do the same thing as Tanisha (i.e. break up the engagement) or would you give up your love? Shubha Verma > That's a good question. No, I am not similar to "Tanisha" in real life. Although I do fall deeply in love, I would never break up someone else's relationship for my own happiness. Poppies > What sort of role would you like to play on screen? Shubha Verma > Something which is a bit challenging and not like me. .Anything that gets me to perform, I will do, as I have just started acting.
