Omen: Prerna and Prem

You guys remember the scene where Prem comes to the Durga puja drunk. Prerna slaps him, and Anurag pushes him. Then, accidentally, Prem's hand hits the aarti in her hand... then the flame catches on her sari and her sari end is caught on fire. Bajaj rushes to put it out while Prem/UD looks shocked her sari is on fire.

What the point of showing that Prerna's sari catches on fire after she talks to Prem and slaps him? Durga is alternately shown too.. what does it symbolize???

ok, I've just seen the vid and here's what I think.

The fire was perhaps symbolic either of the fact that Prem was going to "set fire to his relations" (not literally, but you know what I mean" OR that by kicking Prem out of the house at that time (not knowing that he was their son), Anurag was setting fire to his own family. And Maa Durga represents Mother India who is strong and able to break down her enemies and protect her own people. So Prerna was being likened (not in a literal sense) to Maa Durga, inasmuch that they both have the same kind of power over their children. I think thats what it was, but maybe Ekta just forgot to follow that symbolism...
