Cezanne Khan (Anurag Basu of Kasautii Zindagi Kay) has done his brotherly duty. He has just shot a music video for his older brother, Suhail Khan, who is a musician. Bhai ke liye: Cezanne Khan with his elder brother Suhail Khan
The video features the track Maula, from Suhail's album Tumhare Liye. "Obviously, Cezanne has done this video because of me. Bhai ke liye nahin karega toh kiske liye karega?" asks Suhail.
Describing the video, Cezanne says, "It is a Sufi track and narrates the story of two brothers. One of them has left home because their parents opposed his choice of his life partner. I play the brother who is searching for this lost brother (played by Suhail)."
Directed by Hemant Shakapure (who earlier dire-cted the Kajra Mohabbatwalla video), it was shot at Madh Island last week. "It is my brother's video, so he is the main hero, I play the smaller role," points out Cezanne.
"Suhail has a Sufi kind of look in keeping with the track, while I am dressed in casual jeans." Incidentally, Cezanne has featured in his brother's earlier music videos, as well as "in one Babul Supriyo video a long time ago," he says.
Besides Cezanne, the video also features Anju Mahen-droo, Vikas Kalantri and some models, says Suhail. "I have composed the music for Tumhare Liye as well as rendered the numbers. There are 24 tracks and each has a distinct flavour — from Sufi to ghazal to classical. The numbers have been sung by Shreya Ghosal, Sadhana Sargam and Preety and Pinky, among others."
Suhail is busy finalising a music company to release the album. "I am in talks and things will be clearer in a few days," he claims. His earlier albums include Yuhi Ek Nazar (Universal), Dil Ki Bat (Das Music) besides others. "I am also a sitarist and into ghazal singing," he adds. Suhail is also looking at composing music for films as well as acting on the small screen.
No ear: Cezanne
Though Suhail is a singer, composer as well as a sitarist like their Karachi-based father Ustad Rais Khan, Cezanne is not tuned into music at all. "I am not into all this; that's better left to my broth
