Preeti Puri gets her first major role in Zee's upcoming show Mamta

Preeti Puri aka Vishakha of Kasautii Zindagi Kay is on cloud nine. The lady has been finalised to play the first substantial role of her career. She will be seen doing a negative character in Zee's forthcoming show Mamta. Puri says, "I got a call from Shobhana Desai's production office (the production house behind Mamta). Initially, they were confused if they should offer me the positive lead or the negative one. They wanted the negative lead to look classy and the positive one to have the 'gaon ki ladki' (a rustic look) look. Since my features suited the requirement of the negative lead, I was finalised to play it."

She says, " In the beginning, it was a little difficult for me to essay the negative role of Tanisha because I have not done negative roles in the past."

"Besides, I am a very soft-spoken person. But the production house isguiding me on that and now, I have learnt how to portray the character convincingly." she adds.

Mamta is the story of a girl (played by Neha Mehta) of a middle class family who lives with her ailing father. She takes up the bold decision of renting her womb to support her father's medical expenses. Mamta will go on air in December.

As for Puri's look in Mamta, she will be wearing salwar kameezes and saris but with a 'modern touch' as she puts it.

There is more to expect in this actress's career graph as she will be seen as the second lead in the forthcoming film Utthan and Subhash Ghai's 36 China Town.
