Jealousy of....

The perfect marriage

Previously

Life could not have been going any better for Jai and Bani Walia. The best up-down husband and wife, the best parents, the best son and daughter and the last but not least, best brother and sister until...

Bani's worst nightmare came back without any warning!

Yes, Roshni is back and this time to do the worst damage any other woman would do to break up happily married couple, to get what she once considered was hers until she deserted. According to her, what would have been hers if Bani Walia hadn't stolen from her?

A month ago, Roshni visit Jai Walia in his office. The outcome of her stop by to see her ex-fiance wasn't the best result as she'd hoped. Nevertheless, she discovered days after about her own brother, Ranvijay's scheme to get money out Jai Walia by using his son Rohit, Anu's husband. Rohit obeyed his father and started asking indirectly Anu to ask her share of money from her mamaji. When she shut him and his disgusting idea with one word, he changed his behaviour and started acting bad. He nearly treated her in anyway.

Anu came to stay WM couple of days ago for some relieve, but Bani didn't pick up on her change. Jai Walia did and directly asked Roshni about the matter. They decided both Rohan and Anu to move in WM. Of course, Mrs Walia was unaware about the matter and their meeting. But it had been what Roshni had been waiting for and grabbed the opportunity. She turned around the matter into tales, and mocked bekhabar Bani at the first opportunity.

Was she being jealous?

When all she wants is him?

When all she wants is to protect her marriage?

When all she wants is him to shield them?

Or was he blind to what was obvious?

This was their first real argument in a very long time. In the past, they had survived everything the whole time even his sister's cruel schemes to break their marriage and unknown enemy. They were as the saying goes… On a roll! If either had to describe their lives they would have both used the words perfect. But this time it was she who was back in their lives once again. And he was doing nothing to prevent her evil schemes from happening.

"I just can't believe you're taking her side, I can't believe you even believed her, especially after what she did. But then again when exactly did Roshni something right?" Bani was trying not to raise her voice too much in the car, but her blood was boiling.

"I'm not taking her side and she didn't make me do anything. I make my own decisions and frankly I agree with Roshni on this. Letting things go on like this would only have made worse. We both know why Rohit's behaviour changed. Why can't you just trust me on this?"

She couldn't believe they were even having this conversation. She also couldn't believe that he had believed what Roshni told him. "Jai." She placed a hand over his on the steering wheel. "You know I trust you with my life, except when Roshni is involved because somehow… some way she always ends up coming between us."

"This wasn't about Roshni it was about Rohit and I don't want to talk about it anymore." Jai had pinched the bridge of his nose so many times during the ride home from Mohan's new restaurant he knew he'd have a bruise in the morning. He couldn't believe that Bani was being this stubborn and fixated on something that wasn't big deal at all. This wasn't like her and he really hated the idea of fighting with her.

As they pulled up to the mansion and he slipped the car in the driveway he said a silent pray that family members were in the main hall with the kids and that Bani wouldn't want to argue in front of them. Hearing the passenger door slam seconds after he put the gear in park he knew letting this go wasn't a real option anymore. Jai hopped out of the car and caught up with her before they came face-to-face with Ram Singh, the guard.

"I'm sorry you're so upset even if I don't get why, but could we just agree to disagree." He pleaded.

"How is it that you don't get why? You just did it again. You dismissed me. Conversations don't just end or go away simply because you say so. I never agreed to being treated this way." Bani knew her cheeks were flushed and not in the good way. She didn't want to take this inside with the kids and the family. Why the hell was her life so consumed with all these people to consider? When all she just wanted was to argue with her husband and not worry about a thousand other confounds.

"I've never dismissed you. The only things I've ever kept from you are about business."

"That's funny because I felt pretty ambushed tonight. Imagine my surprise when Roshni showed up all geared up to accomplish her mission. To mock me about something I should know about it, but unfortunately I didn't because of my husband. That's unfair and wrong and you know it."

Jai walked quickly to keep up with her. Completely out of character Bani breezed by with barely a glance to the guard. Jai just shook his head and told him to check the car doors just to make sure. Once they both entered Bani threw on the charm and refused to let on that there was a problem.

"Good evening Bani… Jai bhahiya. How was your dinner?" Nachuket asked.

"Fine, listen why you don't take Kanan and see her to her door?" Jai bluntly stated taking no notice of the scene before him. Nachuket got the message and indicated Kanan to ward the entrance door.

The kids didn't look anywhere near, he noticed. Perhaps they gave in and went to bed, thought Jai. But Mrs. Walia wasn't about to give her husband the satisfaction of running them off to continue this ridiculous conversation. He didn't want to talk about it anymore and she planned on doing exactly that… not talking to him at all.

"Bani mami, the children are sleeping." Rashi said. Ranveer sat behind her, occupied himself with some magazine.

With a passing glance in his direction. "Kanan, take your desert before you go. You'll eat later. I'm just going to check on the children." Bani said and walked away, smiling all the time despite her anger with her husband.

"I'll come with you." Jai took the steps quickly trying to keep up with her pace at the same time looking over the seating area at Nachuket to let him know to act sooner rather than later.

She could practically feel his breath on her neck he was dogging her heels so closely. Staying angry with him was costing her. Giving him the cold shoulder was about to cause her to have to take a cold shower. Damn that Roshni! And suddenly just thinking that woman's name was like having a bucket of ice thrown in her face. She entered the twin's room and of course Atharva was out of the covers with his head hanging off the side of his bed. Jai slid past her and gently resituated his midst and placed him back under the covers knowing he'd be doing it again at least two more times tonight. When he turned around the doorway was empty. Bani was already in Rohan's room when he got into the nursery. He could hear her whispering gently to him and desperately wanted her saying loving words in his ear. But when she crossed him in the doorway he felt the chill roll off of her and settle on him. Stalking into their bedroom, which had never been the stage for anything but love, Bani played the evenings events over in her head. She had actually had hopes for a pleasant evening as they got into the restaurant earlier that night.

~*~*~*~

Walking up behind her while she checked on her reflection for the third time Jai put his arms around his wife and told her once again how absolutely stunning she looked. She had a beautiful jewelled clip her hair at the back of her head with the rest of her long, deep- brown tresses falling at her back. Her sari was emerald colour with its white sleeves blouse; she looked utterly gorgeous, long and sexy in the shoes that matched her hair clip and bracelet. As his eyes met hers in the mirror and his hand slid down to rest on her lovely curvy hips, Jai began to lose focus.

"Mammy, mammy?" Atharva ran through the door and jumped on their bed.

"Hey buddy, what's got you so excited?" Jai walked over and kneeled in front of the nearly 5- year old.

"I don't know, but Atharva please, no running through the house. You're gonna fall down and hurt yourself." Bani ran her hand through the boy's hair and listened as he told them his very exciting news.

"Kanan is here, and she has a friend, a dog." The little boy announced.

Jai looked at his wife curiously and then turned around to pick up Atharva for the ride down stairs. "I'll take him down and you can look at yourself one time. Then please come down. The sooner we go the sooner we're back."

He was being weird about going to this dinner. But she was looking forward to their night out. As her husband crossed out of the room she called out to him, "Nachuket's going out with Kanan, so be nice to her."

Jai walked back to kiss her forehead as thanks for the warning. Nachuket didn't have any close guy friends, except Ranveer, but of all the girls he knew Jai liked Kanan the best. He thought she was a good influence on his young brother. She was innocent and sweet and the two had been best friends since their childhood in US.

She had gotten very close with Bani and the kids and the whole family liked having her around. To night she insisted to stay and babysit the kids with Rashi. Besides Jai knew if left to Nachuket and Ranveer the kids would live the night off of orange soda, chocolate, ice-cream, chips and pizza and all other chunky food and it would worry his wife sick. On the other hand, Massi and dadi were the worst case when it came to spoiling the kids.

Upstairs the reflection staring continued, the artist, the mammy, the sister, the bhahu, the wife… that's what Bani usually saw when she looked in the mirror, but she finally decided that who reflected back to her tonight was Bani the woman and she was satisfied. Taking up her purse she pulled her bedroom door closed and headed downstairs.

"Mammy, you look pretty."Krish said, complimenting his mother.

"Thank you baby. Hi Kanan, how are you?" Bani greeted warmly.

"I'm fine, Bani di. Thanks for asking." Kanan replied politely.

Walking slowly Bani drew near Rashi. "Rashi, we won't be late and you know the rules. They have to be in bed by eight because tomorrow is school. Rohan's in his crib, but here's the monitor because he'll be waking up hungry very soon. You can call us in case of an emergency. I made a dinner but you can order whatever else you want, if you want to, and I made desert for all of you. One more thing Rashi, no ice-cream, not even one scoop no matter what they tell you to the contrary and…."

Here husband finally stopped her. "Bani they'll be fine. Let's go."

"Bhahiya?" Nachuket whispered something into Jai's ear.

Bani wasn't sure what Nachuket was talking about, but from what she gathered it sounded like he was ready to do a great job as a babysitter along with Rashi and Kanan. She and Jai kissed the kids and headed out to the car.

~*~*~*~

Jai closed the door because he didn't want their voices to carry throughout the mansion. Bani stood at the dresser taking off her jewellery and refused him eye contact. He just watched her wanting to strangle Roshni for once again going off without stopping to count to ten. Walking to the chest in front of their bed she sat down to pull her shoes off. As she crossed her legs her husband came to kneel before her and placing his hand on her raised foot he slid off the first shoe. Never saying a word, but feeling the intensity of his glare, she allowed him to do the same with her other one. He rubbed her calf muscles and she sighed her pleasure. The sound pulled her to the present and she placed her heel back on the ground and stood up.

"Is this really how you want to end this night? I certainly don't. I'm sorry…"

"The question is what exactly are you sorry for, agreeing to keep Roshni secret or getting caught for doing so. Jai we know first hand the damage secrets, best intentions or not, can cause. More importantly we know the damage Roshni can cause. Now, you chose to forgive her for her part for dragging me instead in your place, but I haven't and I won't. You promised to never have her in the middle of our relationship. You promised to keep her away from us, but you know what, I would have thought you would've learned from that lesson but..." She stopped herself from completing the sentence.

Bani sighed deeply, and grabbed her night gown from the chair, then walked toward the bathroom and slammed door shut once inside. Sliding down the door Bani shook with tears making sure to not let any sound escape her lips. She played the scenes from earlier in her mind again and pounded her fist against her thighs in frustration over how things had come to this.

Jai ran his hand through his hair. A part of him was furious…with Roshni for being a wrecking ball in his life, with himself for allowing it and with Bani for not understanding. He knew a part of her was right though. He let Roshni talk into him something that might not be entirely a major issue, and convinced him that her life was in danger of unknown attacker. She pleaded and shade tears asking him for his help. Tears had always been the thing she held over him and the one thing he was powerless to resist. Now he could hear his wife sob on the other side of the bathroom door. She had since gotten up from the door and moved to the sink, turning the water on to muffle the sound, but he knew her moves before she made them. Sitting in the chair opposite their master bed he recalled all the times she displayed nothing but strength then moved in there turned on the water and had a good cry. He hated when her tears had his name on them.

When the door opened she showered, her face had been washed and her hair was still damp in front and pulled back up into a tight bun. She felt a little trapped because she knew she'd have to pass him in order to get to her side of the bed. He was doing what he always did… he just sat and waited to see her next move. No one knew her like her husband and he knew she'd deal with him in her time and her way. But the stand-off was making him just as uncomfortable as it was making her.

She broke the silence. "I'm all done in there if you need to get in."

More silence was the response she received. Heading for the door she thought she'd grab water jug and fill with water and maybe check on the kids again. She had to get away from his intense glare. He wanted some sort of resolution tonight, and she wasn't sure she could oblige. His voice hit her before she could put her hand on the door knob.

"Nachuket went to drop Kanan and the rest are watching some comedy movie, I checked the kids and here's the jug I already asked Tony to fill with water."

Boy did she want to strangle him. Before she turned around she took a deep breath and attempted to wipe the smirk off of her face. No one knew her like her husband. Letting go of the handle she faced him keeping her back to the door and he finally made a move toward her. She certainly wasn't about to run from him like a three year old, so she stayed in her position. He put the water jug its place on the sideboard and stood in front of her with his hands shoved in his pockets. Her breath was caught in her throat. God, how she loved this impossible man even when she was furious with him. She had told him once before that even when they were at odds with one another it was always about someone else and unfortunately that hadn't changed. Right now Roshni, and her last schemes, was the white elephant between them.

His eyes were so intense when he got like this… silent. They were boring into her and she couldn't break away.

He said only one word. "Please."

"I can't just be okay with this Jai. If I am then I'm saying it's alright for this to happen again. I'm saying that you keeping secrets with Roshni is acceptable and it's not." Still they didn't move. His silence prompted her to go on. He needed her to get it all out.

"I know perfectly well how Ranvijay can be and I know how he's always used Rohit, but making choices about anything to do with Rohit has to be Rohit's. You shouldn't be involved every little matter involves them. We have our own children and family to worry about." He blinked and smirked because even though he was twenty four he knew she was right about Rohit. It was his decision.

"I love Anushka and Rohit too, but you said it yourself Ranvijay's way out of line and maybe Roshni wants the best for Rohit and Anu. And I love you for trying to handle the matter, but your talking to Ranvijay hasn't made a difference either. Maybe now it's his son's turn to make the decisions and Anu. I know it's your instinct to rush in and pull Roshni out of the danger she's faking right now, but did you ever give any thought to what it would do to your relationship with me or our children for that matter. Maybe she's in real danger I don't know, but I do know she's using Rohit's issue to come between us. Her friendly attempts had been nothing but another scheme to break our marriage. And nothing has changed, same old evil-minded Roshni. If that evil, interfering, and inconsiderate gets in my face again I'm going to forget I'm a wife and mother and I'll circle my hands around her neck and squeeze the life out of her."

His smirk became a full on smile. Looking at him quizzically she asked, "What's so funny?"

"I'm just picturing your hands and Roshni's neck. That and I'm glad you're directing that temper towards her now."

"You're not off the hook that easy yourself Mr Walia. There's plenty of temper to go around."

The smile left his face but lingered behind his eyes as he looked at her and stepped in closer shortening the distance between them, but increasing the heat. "I am sorry. I won't keep things from you that have the potential to blow up in your face without warning. You're right this wasn't business it was personal and it was Roshni, so I should have seen it coming. And even if she tries to come between us, I will not let her at any cost. But I think she got the message when I left her that night and came to find you." The memory of that night hit home, the images of their pleasure of that night flashed.

"Could you go back to the part where I was right?" She felt the same too.

"That's the first smile you cracked since Roshni burst in at Mohan's Restaurant. Are we okay now?"

"I don't think you should get off that easy. I think there needs to be a very fitting punishment for the crime."

He closed the space more and put his arm over her shoulder on the door effectively eliminating any distance left between them. He bent down to kiss her neck, whispering. "So what kind of punishment would be appropriate?"

God, now she couldn't think clearly at all. Her hand slid between them and she placed them flat on his massive chest. He moved from her neck to her lips and cut off her ability to not only think, but to speak. Hands around his neck now she tilted up and started to back him away from the door. Now this was the way the evening was supposed to end Jai thought. He slid his hands around her waist and they headed straight up the back of her silky gown and began massaging her back. If she didn't take a step back this was going to a very inevitable place, but it wouldn't solve anything.

"I need to get some sleep I have an early meeting with new artist tomorrow. Would you set the alarm for five please?" He was stunned. Was she seriously putting on the breaks and going to sleep. Jai just stood there. There were only few nights they didn't make love and never without a really good reason, like sick kids, or one of them being with them in their bed.

She finally had her clear path to her side of the bed. He just watched her. God, she hoped he couldn't tell how aroused she was or how frustrated, but she didn't want him to think that s** was going to be his easy way out. She still had some very real concerns about his relationship with Roshni and the fact that she could get him to do her bidding on a whim. He was strong in so many ways and he had gotten better where Roshni was concerned, but she still knew how to pull his strings. She was going to have to find a way to deal with the situation and she planned on finding out what exactly she was up to using Rohit and her new unknown-fake attacker to get close to Jai sooner than later.

Rohan's cries coming through the monitor brought them back into the room and out of their own thoughts and disappointment. Bani sighed and turned back toward the door.

"I got it." Jai walked out the door and Bani climbed into bed.

She did need sleep and feeling the way she did she knew she wouldn't get any. She never fell to sleep easy when the other side of her bed was empty. What was taking so long? Rohan usually took his bottle after being changed and went right back to sleep. Where the hell did Jai go? Nothing came from the monitor and when she couldn't take it anymore she started to go and check for herself. Then she heard his footsteps. She never said a word, but watched him undress and go in and out of the bathroom. When he was done he went to drink water and brought a glass for her and placed on her beside chest. He knew she'd need it in the middle of the night she always did. Finally climbing in the bed on his side he slid over to his beautiful wife and kissed her on the forehead and breathed out 'I love you'.

Having no idea she was still awake he was startled when she replied. "I love you too, good night."

She pulled his arm around her and snuggled in close. It didn't matter that she was angry or worried she knew this was the only way she'd get a good night's sleep.

"Seth Singhania's a new comer, how he met Bani will be surprise later some time in the story."

The following morning of....

The perfect marriage

Bani, dressed in one of her glamour saris, was coming out of Seth Singhania's office at the AOS building after her appointment with him when Sonali came out of the elevator. She didn't saw her since the last time when she was in the hospital, three months ago.

As expected, Bani kept in touch with Sonali even though she'd been Jia's ex-girlfriend. She didn't tell him anything about Sonali even though he'd handled it well their hindrance after their marriage and he still considered her as good friend and things were better between them. Sonali was very happy for both of them and Bani wanted the wonderful life full of love that she shared with Jai for her, too. Somehow it always went back to Jai. She attempted to thwart her own thoughts because she was still angry with him and wasn't planning on letting him off the hook.

"Hi … Bani… Bani Walia…!" Sonali was waving in front of her face when she finally focused in on her friend.

"I'm sorry Sonali. I was someplace else. How are you? And what are you doing here?"

"Just to say hello to a friend, by the way how did your appointment go? Seth said he asked you to come into his office this morning. I was really so happy when he told me about you last night. He kept complementing your art work throughout our dinner. He said it's remarkable." Sonali said.

"Thank you." Bani said, smiling proudly.

"You deserve it. And just so you know, I knew you'll be here, so I came to see you. I thought we could go for a coffee this morning. Of course only if you're not rushing to somewhere else."

"No. I just came here to see Seth. I'm glad to have met you, too. It's been a long time since we saw each other. Seth's a wonderful artist. It was really pleasure seeing him again."

"I hope you didn't tell him that. Copping with his ego is already impossible."

She was saying one thing, but her eyes were twinkling just at the mention of his name. Bani recognised how bad Sonali had fallen for Seth Singhania. She wondered if she lit up the same way when someone mentioned Jai. Then she realised why Sonali was hoping to see her today.

"So, you and Seth. Huh?" Bani inquired.

"Yes, but nothing serious. Not yet at least."

"I can see how you're blushing." Bani smiled as did Sonali. "I'm just teasing. I'm happy for you."

Sonali had given in and told Bani about Seth her relationship with him, but she was adamant not trusting him completely yet. She wanted to wait until she was sure his stand on marriage and fatherhood and family. Every advance he attempted getting closer to her differently was road-blocked. They were better, but no where near a total understanding or agreement. Bani backed off because frankly she had her own problems to sort out.

"Fine … I'll let you decide without my interfering, even though you know it's only because I love you and want the best for you. But you still have time before you come to any decision, so how about in the meantime we have that coffee mentioned while ago. Then you might help me figure out my problem."

"Is it Jai or the kids?"

"Worse, it's Roshni." Bani moved and both headed toward the elevator.

She followed Sonali to the cafe and eased herself down into one of the red overly cushioned chairs. She wondered how she would get the hell out of it when she was done talking to her friend.

"What did she do now?" Sonali said without hiding her repulse for the she-devil. The hatred between Sonali and Roshni went back to a time before Bani ever came into Jai's life and not much had happened during the last fifteen years to change the sentiment on either woman's part. Something in Bani wanted that biased feeling Sonali had to validate her own point of view, but another part of her knew that maybe Sonali's opinions would only add fuel to the fire and make things worse. Well, it didn't matter because Sonali had become her closest friend since she married Jai and she had to talk this out with someone other than her husband.

~*~*~*~

Jai Walia, the mighty-wealthiest most powerful man in India, who would go to any length to protect his loved ones without blinking an eye, put on his jacket to perform his responsibility as the ECOB of Walia Group of Industries.

As expected, when he had woken up it wasn't to the pleasant sound of his wife's sleeping sound or the giggles coming from Rohan's room when she would change him and tickle his little feet. He didn't hear any of those sounds as he remembered how his morning begun.

~*~*~*~

He woke up to the wailing coming through the baby monitor as the baby awakened. Jai leapt from the bed and pulled on his t-shirt.

"Morning, Rashi." Jai said through bleary eyes while repeatedly running his hands through his hair. "Is Bani gone?"

Rashi looked up at her mamaji and smiled. "Haan mamaji."

"Please see what has him so upset, I'll be down in while."

Rashi nodded looking at Jai and. "Jee, mamaji." Then took off for Rohan's room.

When Jai reached the room he dropped his head in defeat. He had no idea how long his wife had been gone and without her presence this morning wasn't going to be an easy morning. Last night she was upset and from the look of this morning either, he sensed she was still upset with him from hiding about Roshni, he sighed. He'll have to find a way to make it up to her.

When Rashi reached Rohan's room, his was wet from head to toe. But she managed to calm him down as she took him with patience from the crib and headed to the bathroom. Thank God, Bani had dressed Atharva before she left. She still refused him to go school after he'd fallen from the staircase and hurt his knee two days ago. She'd get the nursery handled once she had Rohan fed and settled again, thought Rashi.

Once the changing was complete and she stepped outside, Jai appeared from the bedroom and while Rashi carried Rohan to down stairs the two Walia men also headed down stairs for breakfast.

"Where's everyone?" Jai enquired, taking Rohan from Rashi and put in his high chair beside the dining table.

"Mamaji, massi aur dadi dono saath mein Mandir chale gaye hain. Papa aur Ranveer aur Nachuket office ke liye nikal juke hain." Rashi informed him. "Mamji aap aapka breakfast shroo kijiye, main abhi aayi." She went into the kitchen and came back with tray and sliced bananas.

Sitting Atharva in chair, Jai asked what his son felt like eating so Tony could prepare. It wasn't until he opened his mouth this close to Jai's nose that he man smelled it… chocolate!

"Atharva, what'd you eat?" Jai wanted to be irritated or at least as firm as his wife would want, but he really didn't see the harm. But according to conventional wisdom he shouldn't ignore this behaviour either.

Atharva smiled and hung his head in preparation for what he knew should be a talking to and time-out. Finally he answered when his father didn't say anything else. "Yes, daddy."

"Mammy's not going to be happy son. She doesn't think that's a good breakfast and neither do I, but I guess if you don't have any more treats today it'll balance itself out, huh?" Jai was reasoning with his son in the manner he usually used to get results from his kids in most situations. Atharva didn't understand all of the words unsurprisingly, but it didn't sound like he was in too much trouble as usual.

~*~*~*~

Sonali sat in silence as Bani recounted what should have been a fabulous evening, but turned into yet another episode of the Roshni drama hour. There was a very specific reason that she didn't interrupt the tale as it unfolded. Sonali did her best to maintain a level of neutrality. She didn't want to butt in all of her poison for Roshni.

"…and I left this morning without saying anything to him." Bani finished.

Sonali was watching her, but Bani could tell she wanted to explode. She was only taking her time in an attempt to be calm in her response. She'd to give a credit to her husband's ability to just sit still and quiet while he reading the other person's body language.

"Go on Sonali, just say it…" Bani prompted.

"Okay, it goes without saying that I hate the ground that holds Roshni up, but the best advice I can give is find a way to cope around her, because she will live longer than us all. Jai is after all only helping her out this time and the best thing you can do is let him deal with her for good."

"That's the problem he thinks he is and all he's doing is helping her to between us."

Sonali could tell Bani was climbing up quicksand barefoot and reaching down for a hand, so she dug past her surface piss and added. "Jai worships you and loves you and the family he made with you, believe me he won't do anything to jeopardize it. So be honest about your feelings and what it is that you need and stay clear of bashing or blaming. Leave that to Roshni. Trust me he knows now what she's capable of."

Bani was in shock. This wasn't what she expected to hear at all. Sonali should have been the typical say-so on the bashing of Roshni and she had taken the high road.

"Well, I have calmed down a lot since yesterday. I guess we could have a rational conversation about it tonight." Bani smiled her sly grin and Sonali rubbed her hand and smiled along. And he had been really sweet last night and even though I wasn't speaking to him he didn't push me away when I snuggled up against him to fall asleep. Bani admitted to herself.

"He wouldn't push you away no matter what you did." Sonali said as if reading what was in her mind.

Bani smiled. "I know, which means I owe him as much, huh?"

"Your words… not mine." Sonali said.

Then shortly, she stood up, up and headed back to AOS to pick up some document along with Bani.

When they arrived at AOS, Sonali went to Seth's office while Bani waited for her in waiting area. Just then the elevator doors opened and a hug bouquet of roses came through and approached the front desk reception. Both Bani and Sonali, who came out, wondered who they were for. But they were both shocked when the delivery guy asked for Mrs Walia. Bani received them curiously and when he got back on the elevator both of them each other curiously again.

Sonali said. "Now we know Jai is the only one to have something that huge and outrageous sent."

"But I didn't tell him where I was going for my appointment with Seth." Bani responded back smile, still curious.

"I'm sure he knew." Sonali grinned. "He always does. Listen, I've to drop this file somewhere, so I'll see you some other time. Take care"

"Ok, you too, take care." Bani said. "And thanks for listening my problem."

"No problem. See you soon, bye." Sonali headed outside, leaving Bani to read her husbands message.

Bani unfolded the card and read.

"With the start of each new day
I find myself thinking of you...
In the middle of my busy day,
my mind wanders and I think of you...
Out of nowhere I see your smile,
hear your laugh and I think of you...
Life is beautiful now because I fall in love
all over again each time I think of you."

I hope your appointment goes well.

Forever yours

-Jai

She had tears in her eyes and at the same time smiling by the time she finished reading. She knew he really loved her. Not that she ever had any doubt. But she knew now just how much he really, truly, utterly loved her.

She took out her mobile phone, a huge smile on her face, and called her husband's number quickly.

"Hi, sweetheart." He answered. She could hear the smile in his voice, he was trying to call her right now.

"Is everything okay? How did the appointment go?"

"Everything's fine. I just received the huge gift you sent." She figured he could probably hear the smile in her voice as well.

"Did you like it?"

She gnawed on her bottom lip for a minute, remaining silent. "Yeah. They're beautiful, thank you"

"You're welcome." He said, smiling. "Am I forgiven now?"

"Yes." She smiled too.

"Thank you." He said with relieve, reaching for a pen on his desk. "So, where are you now?

"Going home."

"Listen, sweetheart. I'll see you home. And don't worry I'll pick up the kids from school my way." He said.

"You can?"

"Bani." He said, with another chuckle. "We'll be fine."

"Okay." She said. "I'll see you then."

"Jai?" She said.

"Yes, baby."

"I love you."

"Love you, too."

Bani pulled into the driveway shortly, relieved to be home, after having gotten stuck in traffic for longer than she had anticipated.

She rang the bell, an amused grin in place, and stepped inside.

She stopped short just at the inside doorstep and stood there, her mouth hanging open.

Her boys and Rashi were all asleep.

Rashi was laying on the sofa. Rohan was on her chest, sucking away at his thumb and Atharva was curled against her side. Both of the boys looked freshly bathed and Rohan in his nap outfit.

Checking her watch and seeing that it really wasn't their afternoon nap time, she shook her head, still amused. "What did they do to you, Rashi?" She muttered, making her way to the sofa.

She kneeled at the sofa and caressed the side of Rashi's face gently. She blinked as she came awake and smiled.

"Sorry I'm late." She said apolitically.

"I fell asleep." Rashi said, still blinking.

"You all did, it seems." She smiled.

"How was your appointment, mami?" She asked, coming more awake.

"Fine." She shook her head and then looked pointedly at the boys. "How were they? Any trouble?"

"No, mami. They were good." She said with a rueful grin.

"Thank, God." She smiled. She leaned down to pick up Rohan and said. "Let's put them to bed."

Rashi took Atharva into her arms as Bani stood holding Rohan in hers and they quietly made their way upstairs.

~*~*~*~

Later on, Bani couldn't help but grin when at precisely 5 o'clock, the doorbell rang and he entered followed by their excited-to-be home kids.

Her face lit up and she opened her mouth to speak, but her son beat her to it.

"Daddy." Atharva shouted and run to him, launching himself at his legs.

"Hey, buddy." He said lifting Atharva up in his arms to give him a proper hug.

She walked over to them, Rohan pumping his little arms and legs in excitement at the sight of his father.

"Mammy, mammy." Krish and Priya rushed to her.

"Hi." She said, before bending her head down to kiss Krish's head then Princess.

"I hope they didn't tease you finding them?" She handed Rohan over to him after he had set Atharva down.

"Be careful, he's just been fed." She said, as he threw Rohan in the air immediately. "He had a long afternoon nap today with Rashi." She told him, the corner of her mouth hitching up in a grin.

He gave her one of his killing smiles and walked away.

Bani disappeared into the kitchen leaving Jai tickle Rohan as the rest of the kids run from one place to the other. She was starting to prepare the dinner and yelped in surprised when she felt herself being spun around and pressed up against a solid familiar form.

"Missed you." He said against her ear, his voice like gravel, as he pulled her tightly to him.

Before she could return the sentiment, his lips captured hers in a toe-curling kiss.

She brought her own hands up to his hair and threaded her fingers in the thick locks.

And suddenly she jerked away.

"What's wrong?" He asked, immediately concerned.

"Um …" She grimaced and brought her hand out of his hair and down in between them." The kids." She bit hard on her bottom lip to keep from laughing as he cursed under his breath.

"Are you okay?" She asked, reaching up to press a sweet kiss against his jaw.

He closed his eyes with an amused sigh and pressed his forehead to hers. "I'm gonna take a quick shower."

"Yeah. Maybe you should." She giggled.

She followed him into their bedroom shortly after making sure the dinner was all set to be prepared and the kids were settled.

She picked his trouser and shirt up off the floor and chuckled. He would never change his habit of leaving his clothes on the floor, she though.

Biting back another giggle, she checked the pockets of his jeans to make sure they were empty before tossing them in the hamper.

She stopped short.

She opened the shower door a crack.

He turned to look at her questioningly.

She didn't say a word, she just removed her hand from his trouser pocket, bringing out a tiny racing car that was in there.

She looked at him with laughing eyes.

"Don't ask." He said with a groan and stuck his head under the water to rinse out the shampoo.

She tossed his clothes quickly on their relaxing sofa and just as quickly stripped off all of her clothes. She stepped into the shower behind him just as he was reaching to turn it off.

"Not so fast." She said, wrapping her arms around his waist.

He turned to face her with a smile.

"I think you might have missed some shampoo, husband." She said with a wicked grin.

"You think?" He asked, wrapping his arms around her waist as well.

"Mmhm." She leaned forward and pressed her lips to his chest. "And it's my wifely duty to make sure you're all clean."

"I'm all yours, wife." He said as his mouth descended on hers.

~*~*~ the rest scene only through pms, and that too, 'if you proof your age' that was a joke folks, but I can't post more than this length~*~*~

How they made it to the bed, she couldn't remember. He dried them both off and then carried her into bed with him.

She ran her hand lazily up and down his bare chest as he ran his hand softly up and down her bare back.

After several minutes of comfortable silence, she smiled against his chest. "Just one question."

"Hmm?"

"How did the racing car end up in the pocket of your trouser?"

She could feel laughter rumble through his chest before he replied. "The better question would be … how did it end up on the board meeting table."

The end.
