Mere Sapne
"Adi!' Jigyasa sat down next to Adi and watched him, his head buried in the paper he was reading. Adi just grunted without lifting his head up.
"Adi put the paper down and just sign this check for me...please darling."
Adi lifted his head up and peered over his glasses at his wife...now what does she need money for he thought. He put the paper aside and took the check book from and next instance he growled, "Jigyasa what do you need two million rupees for?"
Jigyasa smiles at him, used to his grumbling about money,"Darling, Nikita's second birthday is coming up, toh party organize karni hai."
Adi pushing his glasses up,"Lekin Jigyasa, two million rupees for a birthday party. She is only going to be two, how will it cost when she is sixteen?"
Kissing him on the cheek, "Adi hamari ek pari jaisi granddaughter hai (we have just one daughter who is like an angel), so we should celebrate in style."
Adi knew it was pointless arguing with Jigyasa who loved parties, shopping and going on holidays. He signed the check and gave it back to him, "No more checks for a week now please. Mujhe bankrupt karne ka irada hai?"(you want to bankrupt me0
Jigyasa gleefully took the checkbook, whispered, "Thank you baby, I have to go now, have lots of work to do." She started towalk away. Adi watched her swaying back, he put his paper down and walked after her, "Wait Jigyasa I need you to...." jigyasa turned around and looked at the gleam in Adi's eyes, and rolled her eyes, "No Adi...not now please. I have so much organizing to do." Adi wrapping his arm around her waist, whispered, "This will not take long. Check sign karne ka tofah toh milna chahiye na."(i should get reward for signing the check.)
Much later Jigyasa and Adi lying in bed, arms wrapped around each other just lay silently enjoying the intimacy. "Adi do you think we are too old to do this? I mean we are grandparents."
Adi snorts, "Old, Jigyasa we are in our forties only. It will be a long time before I am old and I am not about to give up se* just because we have grandkids." Jigyasa thumped him, "You never think much, we have two daughter-in-law in the house, Rano and Raashi. Koi baar mujhe sharam aiti hai woh kya soochte hoge."(I am embarrassed to think what they are thinking)
"Kuch nehi, bas yeh tera dimaag jaara zayadaa socheta hai(nothing, just your brain working overtime)" saying Adi snuggled further only to be pushed away, "You have had your fun now let me go. I have so much work to do."
In the evening, Jigyasa and Adi entered Walia house, "Namaste bhabhi." Jigyasa greeted her brother's wife Bani. Bani smiled and hurried forward, "Namaste Di. Namaste jiju." Bani hugged both them.
"I s bhaiya home or still at the office?" Jigyasa asked. Bani sat her down, "Baitho, he is just changing. Came home just ten minutes ago."
Jigyasa looked at Bani, she looked a little different, has she put some weight on. Her gaze rested on her slightly enlarged waist, "Bhaibhi are you pregnant again?" jigyasa asked. Bani blushed, "Yes Di, only eight weeks yet."
Jigyasa rolled her eyes, "I am going to kill bhaiya. The twins are only two years old and you are so busy with them. Akkal kuch nehi hai...how are you going manage another kid bhabhi, you have four already?"
Bani laughed, "Ask your brother that. Does not listen to me."
Jai came running down the stairs, "Hi di... hi Adi...kabh aye?"
Adi grinned at him, "You are in trouble brother."
Jai looked confused, "Why? What did I do wrong?"
Jigyasa tugging him down to sit next to him, glared at him, "Idiot. What was the rush to get another baby, aren't four kids enough?"
Jai looked goofy, "Oh so Bani told you the good news. Aree sis, mujhe India ke liye dream team baneni hai, cricket ke liye...they lost again to Aussies...good for nothing lot. I want two three Kapil Dev, two three Bedi and a few Tendulakar, Gavaskar or Wadekar, phir dekhna India will win the World cup everytime."
Jigyasa punching him, "By the time your cricket team is complete you will be bhuddha. Aur bhabhi's health ka koi khayal nehi(not care for Bani's health)."
Jai locked eyes with his wife, she definitely looked even more sexy when she was pregnant he thought. "I am always looking after your bhabhi... she always has my attention."
Adi burst out laughing and Jigyasa couldn't help but smile. Bani came with a tray of chai and snacks. Putting it down she said. "Enough talking about me. Eat now." She handed plates of hot samosas to them.
A hushed giggling followed by shouts of "Papa's home." And a patter of feet ran towards where they were sitting. Krishna and Ganga flinging themselves on Jai, covered him with kisses, "Hi papa."
A more sombre Atharva and Krish, his two older sons came with their nanny, Sharan. "Hi papa. Ji bhua. Hi uncle." The boys went and sat down next to Bani. "Hi mama."
Bani tousled their hair, "Hi beta. Why don't you go and wash your hands and face then come down. Sharan aunty will give you something to eat." Sharan stood at the side watching the kids and parents. They were a bunch of sweet kids, the two older boys were well behaved but the twin girls Krishna and Ganga were a little handful...especially Ganga, the hyper of the two. And now next year there will another addition to the family.
She marched the kids off to get them cleaned. They had been for a walk down to the beach and kids had been building sandcastles and paddling in the water.
Jigyasa looked at her nieces and nephews, they were a handsome lot like her brother and his wife. Tears pricked her eyes, wishing her parents were around to enjoy the grandkids.
She turned to Jai, "Bhaiya, keep next Saturday free. We are having a party for Nikita."
"Not another big party Jigyasa, why can't you do just a family party. It's much more fun than."
Jigyasa laughed, "Bhaiya you know like to do everything in a grand style and so my granddaughter will always have the best birthday parties." She then turned to Bani, "Bhabhi if you are free tomorrow we can go shopping for party clothes."
Jai groaned, "Not more clothes. My wardrobe is jammed full of clothes." He looked sternly at Bani, "Don't buy anything for me. Buy what you want for yourself and the kids."
Bani nodded her head, thinking he should be telling this to his sister not her as Jigyasa will bully her into buying clothes for him. Adi trying not to laugh out loud, "Jai you are wasting your words. Your sister already got a big check signed from me this morning. Bet they will come back loaded with shopping bags tomorrow.
Jai shook his head and sipped his tea. His sister was something, loud in terms of everything, voice, clothes, parties.
Late at night after dinner Jigyasa and Adi left with Jigyasa arranging where to meet with Bani.
After they left, Jai cuddled up with Bani on the sofa. The kids had already gone to sleep. Bani deep in thought asked Jai, "You are not serious about more babies after this are you Jai?"
Jai's eyes twinkled as he looked at her, "Why stop the fun Mrs Walia? Meri dream nehi puri karoge?"
