What Do We Want From AD?

Hi ALL

First of all let me apologize, for all those sweet pms I got from you guys.
I have been so tied up at work, its been really hard to find time in my
busy schedule. I know you ppl have been wondering if I have ditched AD.
How can I possibly ditch my sleek, lethal strategist, the anti-hero, who
likes playing games-No I have not ditched him its just that I fully know
AD does not pay my bills, for that I have to work. Lets get to my post of
the day

I know a lot of ppl unintentionally or intentionally deviate from the topic.
Kindly don't do that, if you do I would have to be rude and ignore you
(which I don t want to do). No degrading terms or phrases or names. I
know its freedom of speech, but there is something called respecting
others opinions and pls. do keep in mind that this is a fictional character,
this is fiction we are discussing. This discourse is on a fictional character
and his characteristics and how this character has now paved the way to
future similar characterization in other shows.
(I hope its not too much to ask for to have an intelligent discussion
pertaining to the character of AD 😃).

So, in Friday's episode AD did indeed stoop low as he said he would. I
was not surprised at all…(why are ppl surprised, we have witnessed the
most disgusting stooping low act ever on the Indian tv Screen and that to
me was the husband of one sister sleeping with his married SIL and then
sleeping with his estranged wife who had returned to him--the Dubai -
sister-sleeping scene, can't get any lower than that-albeit the
circumstances) And he has done that, stooped low to get what he wants,
to make ppl dance to his tunes..

Another shade of AD being revealed…a layer being lifted…

My question for the day is "What do we want from AD?"

One thing is for sure that AD cannot be ignored as a character in KS in the
serial.
Majority at IF is always complaining about him, bashing him, calling him
names since the day he arrived. Fine, most people don't like him, you
have voiced your opinion…he still is relatively a newbie in KS…Now, If he
is evil, then oh god why the hell is he evil, if he is not, then why is he not..
what do we really want from AD? Isn't AD suppose to be something
different? Of course, as a character he is different, this character is a
multilayered one, he is a three dimensional character. AD is a lethal
strategist, focused,
obsessive, and on the edge at the same time, he is self destructive and
ego driven…he is a complex multi dimensinal character. And from
reading recent articles
on RK's character in Kyunki, who is suffering from OCD, it seems the
flavour of the moment at BT is somewhat of a different sort of a character
and AD has paved the way in KS…When an actor accepts a role especially
with BalajiTelefilms and an actor like Mr. Ronit Roy, ...
Ronit Roy is a gr8 actor and he is already playing positive roles in two
shows and there are only two reasons for an actor of his stature to accept
a role- either the role is different than what he is currently enacting or it's
a favour to Ekta Kapoor.
Now what did we expect from AD? Yes he stooped low and what
happened the larger than life figure of JW got the respect.
This whole act was to gain the sympathy towards the hero of the show
and establish the important and vital presence of Jigyasa, who btw is the
sister of JW responsible for completely ruining her own brother's family
life. His own life, actually.
Why does AD need to be heroic, (AD is the anti-hero) and do all the work
for the hero by handing Bani/DDG to JW…..Why would AD want to just
give Bani/DDG back to the wolves aka Pia/Jigyasa when Bani is still a
fugitive who is considered to be a dangerous insane murderer on the run
wanted by the police…..if he does that….who will respect the larger then
life figure of JW?
And why should AD just hand over something just like that to a man
whom he still hates and a man who still hasn't cleared his beloved wife's
name of the murder charge on her?

What do we want from AD?

You are right.. there was no need to be surprised when we heard those statements from AD on Friday night telling JW to go sleep with Pia because he had already declared that he'd stoop to any level to make sure that Bani always hates JW.. you are right..

In the heat of the moment,
I really got ticked off but now after reading your post- I realise AD really was supposed to be this different.. and he's supposed to be unpredictable too- according to me.

So what I want out of AD is that he reduces the 'uncertainty' factor to his behaviour- by that I dont want him to turn positive or anything else.. I just want him to be mean and clever but a lil bit less on the 'stooping low' side..

I think AD is doing exactly what I expected of him, as you say stoop as low as any human can. I never questioned why he is evil, he just is. That is the character. Like I bashed Pia's actions, I am bashing AD's. I lamented Pia's action for doing harm to her sister, I am lamenting AD's action for doing harm to Bani. I don't expect him to hand over Bani/Durga to JW, I expect him to sink further in his bid to snatch someone else's wife. I din't expect him to show any remorse for being the cause of why his girlfriend and mother of his unborn child lost all willingness to live, and he did not dissapoint me. Now he has moved on to his next obssesion and here also I expect him to have no moral or ethical boundaries to possess what he wants. He is a destroyer of life and I fully expect him to continue doing so. I don't see him any different from Pia/Jigyassa as he is also maliciously using Bani's freedom as leverage to get what he wants. Also after seeing his actions I don't think it is an empty threat for him that if he cannot have Durga no one can.

As for his actions making JW look great, I would say after butchering JW for 3 months to glorify AD as the man of action, I am going to enjoy it, as I know it is not going to last long. The key way KS creatives move the story is by butchering JW and I am sure it will be back to business very soon.

So I guess AD is doing exactly what I thought he would.

Expectations... the main expectation I have from every character in any show is to add potential for good story lines to the show.

Because AD is played by the guy that is often reffered to by the media as tellyland'd biggest superstar, I expect the guy to bring more potential than if any actor of a lesser reputation took that role instead. I think everything was cool until the weak writing that concluded the Toorky raaz happened. However, now that the mess has already happened, it's best to look forward... and I think that the transformation from grey to total evil was the nest best option.

I was always of the opinion that AD should have been a total dark character to start off with... when he came onto the scene it seemed like he was going to be a totally dark character with his "main hi apna khudda hoon" approach.

When AD knocked down the basti's on the 50 crore land that Walia won on the auction, he did say that he would sink to any level possible to get his job done... and on Friday, the guy did what he said - sank to a new moral low! 😆

I expect him to cause lots of trouble and be a total anti-hero. Maybe a few more outrageous demands can make the anti-hero effect even more effective. I suppose that it's good that the guy is not competing for a good guy post because that just makes things somewhat confusing.

As an anti hero, the guy's repeated assults on the Walia's and how they pull together and come through can potentially make good viewing.

Also Bavie, you are right about eccentric characters being the new in thing at Balaji telefilms! 😆 I'm very much looking forward to see how RK plays his new character in KSBKBT... the look and character sketch suggests that cool things can be done with him for the duration he is part of the show 👍🏼 I expect it to be very interesting indeed!

As I repeatedly say, the main thing is for the creatives to be able to do cool things with the characters. KS has a great cast and therefore I'm sure that there is great potential to do good things with them.

yes indeed he stoop low.... but in love and war everything is allowed.... and he is fighting his battle.... because he wants his love back at his side.....

But .....

Ad has forgotten 1 important thing.....
and that is What does bani/ DDG wants.... cause this is about her....and it will be up to her to decided.....

In my opinion , Ad knows that bani will go back to JW if she knews the truth... and he already knows that he is fighting a lose battle...but he is willing to go over the limit to get her.....

can we take that as love.... yes we can.... but will it give him the same back...... No cause if bani choose to be with him... she will be just a body without her soul.... cause that will always belong to JW...the almighty....

this will bring me to your Q...

You actually mentioned a good point in your post that I totally forgot about - DDG/Bani!

You are absolutely correct about what will happen when DDG/Bani finds out... but I personally think that's a good thing! I would rather see Bani/DDG go back to Walia rather than hang around with AD. For the sake of storylines, I truly believe that AD is better off WITHOUT DDG/Bani.

That way, his attacks on the Walias will be more cruel - and therefore creating better TV. I really think that if Bani/DDG goes back to Walia and during tough times, it could give them and the entire family the chance to bond again. Usually, tough times bring peopel closer... and I hope that can happen for Bani/DDG and Walia.

With DDG/Bani at his side, Walia has the best chance of getting some of his old glory back... and therefore he will finally be in a position to put up a decent fight against adbhut AD 👍🏼

If Bani goes back to Walia, Walia will get stronger, and AD will get more evil... that's a good thing, hai na?

I think that a good and unpredicatable fight would improve stories quite a lot 😊

I want AD to realize his final desire and the cost he will pay for it. If he thinks that a souless, loveless Bani is his end, then sure use the means he wants.

But my question to you is can you justify everything he does with him being a negative person or an anti-hero? I think that is just escapism (in lay man's terms turning a blind eye to something or covering it up - dont wish to upset the mods or those who dont like use of big terms), but then to each his own. 😆

Because then the ADians are no way different than the Munna campers and I thought the ADians considered themselves better and more classy 😉 .

Hmm...Expectations! That's hard now that we've seen how unpredictable AD can be! I think something we have to accept is that AD a villian in the show...And so events such as Fridays shouldn't be a suprise!

.... its not escapism", its accepting a fictional character for what he is
and what....... he should be...AD is an unpredictable character,
multidimensional character ...AD is a different sort of fictional character, he
has not done anything that was not
expected of him...and kudos goes to RR for doing a fantastic job in revealing
one layer at a time of AD.....👏
