T he insecurity of losing a good role is a part and parcel of the television industry. With Ronit Roy slated to enter the primetime show Kasamh Se, the relatively new entrant Pawan Shankar's, who is enacting the role of Karan, will be sidelined. Apparently, post the genera- tion leap, Kasamh Se was to be a love triangle between Ram Kapoor, Prachi Desai and Pawan Shankar. But with news of Roy joining the cast, the storyline will see a dramatic change. Says Nivedita Basu, deputy creative director, Balaji Tele- films, "It will be a love triangle between Ram, Prachi and, of course, Ronit. We did consider a plot with Pawan Shankar but it didn't materialize. For a love triangle, the most important factor is chemistry but that was lacking between Prachi and Pawan." So what happens to Shankar's character? "Karan (Shankar's character) has pro- fessed his love to Bani (Desai) and consequently been thrown out by the family. As of now the story does not demand Pawan's role. "But later, we will bring him in the wake of another compli- cation. His character is not being bumped off," confirms Basu. But Shankar has another sto- ry to offer; "I didn't want to play a negative character. That's the reason my track has been taken off. Also, I was a lit- tle skeptical because of the leap. My role may come in lat- er. My focus is not television now. I'm looking at films. So it's basically a win-win situation for me." Is he insecure about Roy being brought into the show? "I don't think so since I'm not a part of the show right now." Roy will play Aparajit Deb, a rich and ambitious Bengali NRI. Currently, he is acting in three shows for the Balaji sta- ble- Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Kasautii Zindagii Kay and Kayamath.
