clarify this for me please...............

I am really baffled about this as I have seen it on other serials also.......

I left India when I was young so I am sure what is the answer to this question.....

Are Indian men or women allowed by law to be married to more than one person at any given time? Is this legal?

I know certain relgions( like Islam) allows it, but does the Indian law allow it?

I know for sure in the US that the law does not recognize anybody being married to two or more people at the same time. If the first wife is alive then by law she is granted all the legal rights in the marriage. So, if someone wants to marry somebody else then you have to get divorced before you marry someone else.

Confused, as in most serials they show a man having more than one wife.

i agree! i no definitely hindu laws dont allow that! i think the gov't makes exceptions for muslims b/c of their religion

If this is true why do the serials show something that is not possible in real life in India. I know they show silly things, but I think the least thing you can follow are the laws that exist. Otherwise there are no limits to what the storyline can be. The viewers should at least know what cannot happen in the stories.

Are the writers so stupid, that they cannot come up with storylines that follow certain basic rules of law?

well..........welcome to the mai's world.........where anything that could be shown as unreal, disgusting, horrifying AND just plain mind-boggling is shown!😆

I know that i have to go with what Ekta does. But come on!!!!!!!!!! THere is a limit to it. Dont you think so?

Actually in Islam u can marry 4 gals only if u can give all of them the same rite, happinness & everything same....which is not possible so u can marry only one....

But u know the Mollah's (those alkhella people wid white beard) they say only 1 part i.e. can marry 4 times but not all of it.... 😆
