Jai Walia (Ram Kapoor) of 'Kasamh Se' is back from the dead on popular demand.
In trademark Balaji style, the city witnessed drama and rona dhona last week when Jai Walia (played by Ram Kapoor) was shown dead in 'Kasamh Se' (Zee). But keeping with tradition, the prayers of all the fans were answered when he resurfaced the next day.
Ram, Ram
Phones kept ringing and the inbox was flooded with mails demanding a reason for the sudden demise of Jai Walia on the show. Ram Kapoor explains, "I was quite taken aback. But I was back on the show the next day." So was it just a publicity stunt? "It has always been Balaji's strategy to create an impact. But it has been a humbling experience to see the kind of response I received from my fans."
Fan frenzy
An insider reveals that the wife of a senior creative person from the channel refused to make his dabba, blaming him for Jai's death. "He had to call his wife from office and explain that Jai would return on the show. Only when she actually saw the next day's episode was she convinced and resumed sending him his dabba," reveals a source from the channel.
Backstage drama
There's word that the problem started after a disagreement between producer Ektaa Kapoor and Ram Kapoor over dates. The actor shoots five days a week, but the channel and the producers wanted them to shoot six days continuously — which he refused to do.
Clarifies Ram, "When you are doing a show there are bound to be issues with the producer but they need to be ironed out. I shoot for almost 26-28 days a month because it is a daily. There is a lot of pressure on me because I play the lead role. In fact, there are days when I reach the sets on a Monday and return home only on Wednesday. But I fully understand my responsibility as an actor."
But Balaji's creative head Sandiip Sikcand nixes the rumours: "There were no problems — it was just part of the track. But we did get a lot of mails and calls from fans asking us to change our story line."
