Dhananjai was busy taking all the necessary arms out of the different rooms and locked them afterwards. Bani was in Pushkar's room, taking care of the several wounds on his body and face, so he had his bedroom all for himself. After instructing his men and stationing them strategically around the house, Dhananjai went to his changingroom and got dressed in a comfortable pair of jeans and a poloshirt. A black leather jacket covered the three guns he had tucked away, two in the waist band of his jeans and one in the holster, strapped around him. His leather shoes were replaced by sneakers. Pulling up his socks, Dhananjai double checked whether the knife he had strapped to his lower leg was still tucked away safely. Dhanajai was about to leave his bedroom when he received a message on his mobile phone from one of his informants.
Salim is missing,
Don't know where he is.
Dhananjai knew that it was going to happen now. Salim was missing, no one knows where he was. He wasn't at his usual places and by now he must have found out that his last resort to get Bani, Pushkar, was back with Dhananjai. On top of that, Dhananjai killed his brother. Salim must be heading towards him at this exact moment, like a blinded bull. One hour at the most and Salim will come here to take his revenge, but what method would Salim use?
Dhananjai locked his bedroom and made a final check of the house and did a final check on his men. Satisfied that they were armed properly and listening to his instructions Dhananjai headed to Pushkar's room first. He was still unconscious. Bani was kneeling next to his bed and was rubbing a black mixture on his feet. She hadn't notice him come in and was still engrossed in her job.
Dhananjai kneeled down next to the bed and softly stroke Pushkar's hair.
'I'm really sorry beta. I came so late. I'm sorry I couldn't protect you but not anymore. After this you, Iqbal and Nirali are.......not anymore.... I'm just so sorry. Salim wont get to you anymore, nor will the reason why you got yourself captured will not go to waste. Bani will be safe.'
At this point Dhananjai was the one who didn't notice the pair of eyes on him. Nor did he see her brushing away a tear seconds after he did the same. He turned to her and saw her staring at him.
'Salim is missing and he will be here soon. I killed his brother. Bani's eyes grew wide. Dhananjai assumed out of fear or maybe repulsed by his actions.
'Dont be scared. Tujhe kuch nahin hoga, mai guarantee deta hoon. Dhananjai said ambiguously, trying to assure her of her safety, whether it concerned him or Salim.
Bani shook her head and looked down biting slightly on her lower lip.
Dhananjai reached out to her and touched Bani's knee to draw her attention. Please take care of Pushkar.'
Bani nodded and resumed her task, plagued by thoughts and horrific scenes of what might happen to him. Dhananjai had not noticed her soft sobs by then. He was too occupied by the look in Bani's eyes. Fear for him.
Bani washed her hands in the attached bathroom. After that she checked Pushkar's pulse and his temperature for the umpteenth time. At this point Bani couldn't do anything besides waiting. Half-an-hour later Bani saw the door open. First a blue mattress appeared and then Bani saw the woman behind it. Nirali spread the mattress on the floor, next to Pushkar's bed. Behind Nirali Jai came in carrying Iqbal in his arms and he put him on the mattress on the floor, facing the bedroom door. Bani took a blanket and covered Iqbal, who was still weak from his injuries and Bani's healing. Dhananjai took his own silver gun out of the gunholster and handed it to Iqbal. Iqbal shook his head, refusing to take it.
'Bhai, this is your gun.......you always carry this.'
Dhananjai took Iqbal's hand and placed the silver gun in his hand. 'Take it, Neeche kya hoga mai nahin jaanta. Yours, Nirus, Pushkars and Banis safety is in your hands. Shoot the one who enters this room got it! I will lock the door! Iqbal dumbly nodded. Dhananjai took a look around the room. His brothers and his confidents who stood by him when he had lost everything, were in this room. The most important people in his life. Iqbal, Pushkar and Nirali, the girl who made him smile in even the darkest days were here. He had to protect them even though they might be able to do it themselves, but still. They were his responsibility.
Just a one look more and sigh later Dhananjai was about to turn around and walk to the door. This time he wasn't sure about the outcome of the fight. He had won too many times and this time he was fighting for something far more personal than before. A little longer then on the rest, Dhananjai eyes rested on a figure in a corner of the room. He left he room, unaware of her gaze lingering on him for as long as he was in her sight.
Bhai, Thakur aaya hai. Dhananjai was informed as he walked down the stairs. He frowned but told the guards to let him in.
Thakur entered the hall with his entourage.
Dhananjai, we need to talk to you. Dhananjai smiled and told them to take a seat on the sofa. Thakur did with all the fake lan he had. Two man stood behind Thakur with the intention to guard him. Dhananjai sat across him.
We need to talk in private. Thakur said when he noticed the men on the stairs and near the exits. Dhananjai stared at him. Thakur dismissed his men with a snap of his fingers. Dhananjai turned around and smiled at his men. They understood his message.
Ab bol.
Salim asked me to come here. He wants to negotiate. Thakur said.
Why?'
'usko woh larki chaahiye.'
'Nahin doon to?'
'You killed his brother.'
Dhananjai arched his brow. ' I know.'
'Sulah karle faide me rahega.' Thakur commented.
Dhananajai smiled a sarcastic smile. 'Mera paisa lekar, uski taraf daari?'
The knowing glance on Thakur's face turned into a scowl.
'He will kill you.'
'I'm waiting for him, right here.' The look in Dhananjai's eyes was dangerous. The glint in his eyes took Thakur back for a while but the next instance he ducked, drew a gun and pointed his gun towards Dhananjai. He hadn't noticed that in the same time Dhananjai had removed a gun from the waistband of his jeans. Thakur felt a bullet fly past his right ear.
' Bol, maru ya nahin?' Dhananjai asked.
Thakur shook his head, fear was evident in his eyes.
Outside Dhananjai heard four shots and saw Thakur look out of the window with a satisfied smile. 'Salim aaya hai.'
'Too bad for you that you helped him.' Dhananjai urged him stand up. He turned Thakur around when he heard a man scream his name. He recognized that voice. It was Salim and judging by the noise outside he had brought more men that Dhananjai could imagine. He understood his ploy. Outside was every man who's business Dhananjai had harmed by doing the job the police was supposed to do. All the men Dhananjai had threatened to harm would they not tone down or end their businesses.
Dhananjai put the barrel of the gun against the, not to small, small of Thakur's back. At the same moment he saw Thakur's two men coming in through the front door again. Dhananjai pointed his gun towards them, made them stop and turn around, threatening them with the life of their boss. Thakur wasn't making any inappropriate move and lead the way till the front door. Thakur's men had run out of Dhananjai's way and were standing in between a large group of men Dhananjai didn't know. He only recognized their leaders. Salim, Raju , Ramakant and Shantibhai. He had made them stop drugtrafficing by burning down their warehouses. Now they had come to take revenge. At Dhananjai's side, his man were standing next to him in a line. Dhananjai knew that even more men were hiding on the roof and aware what was happening, and a few were in the bushes waiting for his sign.
'Salim, look I have brought your prey out of his hiding! ' Thakur screamed in triumph.
Salim didn't have the same smug smile but then next instance he yelled Thank you and pulled the trigger of his gun. Dhananjai saw Thakur collapse in front of him. a ray of bullets was fired from both sides and Dhananjai aimed for the first person who approached him to take his life. Shantibhai fell on the ground. Dhananjais men spread in all directions and engaged in their own fights even when they knew that they were outnumbered.
Dhananjai stood close to the door which he had closed in haste, protecting the only entrance to the house, to Bani, and from time to time covered his men. Several times he ran to pull someone away or to scream at someone to make them alert of a shooter. The number of people whom Dhananajai Walia killed grew larger. All the time Dhananjai kept one eye fixed at the main door and ran back and forth. From the main door he compelled his enemies to come closer and try and take their revenges, act on the grudges they held against him. they did come forward. One by one first, but suddenly Dhananjai noticed that Salim and Shantibhai had surrounded him and at gunpoint made Dhananjai's men drop their guns.

Bani was leaning against the bathroom door in Pushkars room. She wanted to know what was happening downstairs. She wanted to know whether they were all right, whether he was all right. Pacing up and down the room didn't help either and when she saw Nirali sitting next to Iqbal, looking worried, the tension just mounted.
Bani walked towards the other end of the room, checked on Pushkar again and walked back. She saw the silver gun in Iqbals hand. Iqbal was trembling. Bani kneeled in front of him and he saw her smile.
'Dard ho raha hai?' Niru asked Iqbal.
'No, just a bit uncomfortable.'
Iqbal put the gun down and rubbed the palm of his right hand with the fingers of his left hand. Bani took his hand and rubbed it slightly to stimulate the blood flow. Iqbal nodded to indicate that it was feeling all right now. Bani tried to stand up but stumbled. She steadied herself with her hands but something cold touched her fingers. Her thumbed brushed over the silver metal and again a familiar shiver ran down her spine. This time Bani didn't fight it. She let the feeling wash over her senses and relaxed in the disarranged and haunting colours.
She was running down the stairs. Bani was hearing gunshots outside the house. For the first time she saw the expensive modern furniture, the colourful but morose paintings on the wall and she couldn't care less. She just ran, as fast as her legs could carry her and looked for a way out. All the doors were closed. Bani saw a large white door in the hall and assumed it was the door that led out of the house. Outside Bani heard a few men scream and laugh, maybe in triumph. She ran to the door and tried to open the doorknob but to her surprise her hand went through the metal of the doorknob and through the door. Bani took her chances and stepped through the door. Once outside she gasped at the sight in front of her. Three men were beating up some one. They were kicking the man who was lying on the ground and others were standing around him. Around her Bani saw other men standing at gunpoint with their guns lying aimlessly on the ground. It seemed liked they wanted to help the man who was being beaten but they couldn't. Bani heard them gasp every time one of the three men kicked or hit the other man.
'Why do you want to have her?' Bani heard a voice, filled with pain. She thought she recognized the voice and ran towards the group of men, without listening to the answer. Had she listened, then she would have known that Salim knew more about her powers and her capabilities then Bani knew herself.
Bani made her way effortlessly through the men. Their bodies could not stop her. There she found him lying on the ground.
'Jai!!!' She screamed and dropped herself next to his. He was sitting on the ground, on his knees. Dhananjai was robbed of his guns and beaten severely. Bani saw half of his face covered in blood. He was shot in his left shoulder. Bani saw the fire in his eyes, even though he was injured like this. She kept looking at him and noticed too late that a bullet was fired over her head and hit him at his temple.
'Nooooooo!!!!!!' Bani tried to reach out, she managed to grab his hand and at that moment her mind filled with images.
~~~~~~~~~
Along a beach a young boy was holding the hand of a man. The man kicked a bright, multicoloured ball and the young boy let go of the man and waggled towards the ball.
^
The man she saw before entered a room in a police uniform. He took of his cap and put it on the head of the same boy but here he was slightly older and sitting behind a desk, writing. He looked up towards the man and touched a medal on the man's uniform. The boy started cheering an jumped in the man's lap.
^
A funeral was being held. A sea of white was standing at one side of the cremation ground. Bani saw the same man and a the same boy standing next to the funeral pyre. Together they were holding a burning log of wood. When Bani approached them she saw a woman in bridal finery lying on the pyre. The persons next to her funeral pyre were crying.
^
The same man entered a house this time. Bani saw a tall teenager take the cap of his uniform and the bag he was holding. She recognized the gait of the teenager. The man standing across him looked troubled but tried to smile in front of the boy.
^
The man was sitting in a chair in a bedroom. He was holding a picture of a family in his hand. His family. He was sitting on a sofa with the woman Bani saw on the funeral pyre. Leaning on them and hugging them from behind with a big smile was Jai. This was his family.
The man, Jai's father, looked at a little chit on his lap. The letters were cut out of newspaper cuttings. 'Humaare kaam me dakhal mat do, anjaam accha nahin hoga.'
The chit was put in a file. Bani took a look at the file and saw a sentence underlined. 'Guilty on the charges of corruption.' The sentence under this caught her attention next. 'Found guilty on the charges of conspiracy.'
Bani heard someone pounding on the door. 'Papa, darwaaze kholo!!! PLease papa!!!' Someone pleaded on the other side. Bani heard a loud shot. Next to her the man had put a revolver against his temple and shot himself. The same white door the person on the other side was pounding on, was now covered in splashes of blood. The door opened and she saw Jai stumble towards his father.
^
The next vision was of Jai again. He was standing in a white kurta next to funeral pyre. This time there was no one around like at the previous funeral. Jai was alone with the priest. A black car stopped a few meters away from Jai. A man in a black suit got out. His eyes were covered by tinted sunglasses but he had a smug smile on his face. Bani saw Jai look his way and she heard: 'Dont you dare to think that this is over Samrath. Jo papa ne karna chaaha, woh mai poora karunga. I swear on my father I will make you pay for all of this. For the charges, for taking away my father..'
Not one tear was shed by Jai.
^
He was running in a dark tunnel with a gun in his hand. Behind him she saw a younger looking Pushkar running behind him. When she heard a gunshot, Bani turned around. She saw the same man, whom she saw looking towards Jai on the cremation ground, lying on the ground. Jai shot at the figure again. The man was crying for mercy but Jai didn't listen. He fired again. The man stopped speaking. Jai stared at the man on the ground. the gun fell out of his hand and he dropped himself on the floor. He closed his eyes and a cry of agony escaped from him. Pushkar ran towards him and put his arms around.
Bani saw a flash of Iqbal, then of an inspector visiting Jai and discussing something. Several times she saw Jai running behind someone, shooting someone or putting something on fire. She saw him shoot people before he reached a room where women were held captive in inhumane circumstances. Bani saw a flash of Nirali and then of a man she saw on the news. Police commisioner Shinde and a briefcase filled with case files. He handed it to Jai.
In his study Bani saw Jai making a map and circling places. The next flash was a familiar one. It was an image of Pushkar and Jai shooting men in a bar. The men were on their knees and Jai shot them point blank.
She saw herself. She saw herself leaning over him and healing him on the road where he had and accident a few nights ago.
She saw herself again sitting in the room with her hands and feet tied when she first came to this house.
Then she saw herself lying on the bed and leaning against him, thrashing away in pain. Jai was holding her close against himself.
Another image of her sitting on the bed and trying to draw. Jai was sitting on the other side and holding a sliver string in his hand. She was calling for his attention and Jai quickly hid it in his pocket. She saw the end dangle out. It was her anklet. The one she had removed on the first night she spent in this house.
The next image was of her too. It was the last time she saw Jai, but she didn't know that it was the last image of her Jai had imprinted in his mind.
~~~~~~~~
Bani was fighting with herself she noticed when she woke up. Iqbal and Nirali were looking at her curiously. Bani's thumb was still placed on the silver weapon. She stood up and ran to the door and tried to open it. Iqbal and Nirali kept staring at her. Nirali walked towards her, put her hand on Bani's shoulder and tried to calm Bani. It had no effect. Bani was still trying to open the door. Nirali took the gun, which was lying aimlessly at the mattress, and held it against the lock on the door. She was about to pull the trigger when she heard Iqbal.
'Nirali don't! You are not allowed to! Bhais orders!
To hell with his orders Iqbal!' Nirali screamed back. Humko yahan bandh karke khud larne gaya! Bahaaduri dikhaane ka shauq unko jo hai! He didn't even bother to think about that we will be worrying ourselves sick because of him! Nirali prepared the gun to fire.
Nirali, don't!!!
Nirali turned around just once to glare at Iqbal. She felt the gun being pulled out of her hand and heard a shot being fired the next second. The tinkling of metal falling on the ground made both Iqbal and Nirali look at the door.
Bani pushed the door open and ran out of the room with the gun still smoking in her hand.
She ran over the corridor, down the stairs and across the hall to the door. This time she didn't think twice and held the gun against the doorknob. She just assumed , correctly too, that Jai must have locked the door to prevent other men entering the house. Bani pushed one side of the door open and saw the same horrendous sight she had seen in her vision. Jai was on the ground and three men were kicking and hitting him. Around her, Jais men were captured and their guns were lying on the floor. Shee saw Jai scramble up and sit on his knees. This time she couldn't hear the question he asked.
'Why do you want Bani?'
'What do you think? just for some lousy visions I am going through so much trouble?' The corners of Salim's mouth curled. 'Nahin. She can do more then that. Bas usko aisi situation me daaldo jahan usko apni taqat istemaal karni paregi. Dekh woh kya kya karti hai.' the glint in Salim's eyes was dangerous, vicious and cold. Even though his vision was blurry, Dhananjai could see the man stand in front of him dreaming about his future in glee.
'You will torture her.' Dhananjai predicted while he burned on the inside.
'And how does that concern you?' Salim asked and kicked him in his face again, as hard as he could. Dhananjai fell to the ground, closing his eyes to prevent sand coming in his eyes. He saw the pair of feet around him and couldn't help looking in the direction of the house through the open spaces. To his shock he saw that the door was open and that someone was standing in the doorway. That person was barefoot and............
'Bani yahan kyun aayi hai.' Dhananjai scowled inwardly. She tried to peer over the shoulders of the men who were standing around him from near the door, but she couldn't see him. He saw her jeans clad legs move towards the side of the compound and move behind the men who were all busy watching the fight in the centre. Dhananjai wanted to know what she would be doing so he moaned loudly and moved his position. He sat up on his knees and although he could sit like that, he acted like he couldn't and dropped himself on the ground again. He saw her legs. She moved towards the nearest bush on the compound. Dhananjai prayed that no one would notice her. Bani would not be able to hear the sound of someone approaching. Bani moved swiftly in the bush. She hoped she still had some time left before Salim would pull the trigger. She was nearly there.
'Please let this work She prayed silently.
In the bush Bani hid herself. She saw the men on the compound looking at the centre where the fight was going on. Three men were still standing there, surrounding Jai. Bani lied down on the sand and saw an open space. Jai was lying on the ground too and looked in her direction. Bani held the gun close to her chest and said a quick prayer. She then placed the gun on the ground. Bani looked for a clear spot between the men who were holding Jai's men at gunpoint. In between the legs of the men surrounding Jai she found a spot, tried to estimate the distance and in one swift movement pushed the gun way from her. It slid over the ground and the sand but stopped behind the man who just kicked Jai. Jai saw it and Bani saw him push the man away and reach for the gun. He grabbed it, dropped himself on the floor and shot the man above him in his chin. The man fell on the floor while blood oozed out of the wound. Around Jai, Bani saw the fight continue again. Jai's men freed themselves in the hustle bustle that Bani's intervention created.
Bani was relieved at this point. The moment where Jai could get shot passed and he would be able to save himself, right?
Bani peered from between the branches. Gunshots were being fired all over the place. Bani could see the smoke coming from the guns. She searched for him. He was fighting. His shirt was covered in his blood. His face was swollen and bleeding. For the strangest reason she felt her heart bleed with him. She saw him push a man to the ground and pull another man so the man would not become somone's victim. A bullet flew past them. The man on the ground managed to get up and saw a gun lying at a distance and he ran over the sand, creating a cloud of dust, with the aim to retrieve the gun. The man bend down and he looked around.
Bani tensed while watching the bodylanguage of the man. Murder was written all over him. Bani stood up and managed to get out of the bush. She didn't saw that a lot of men were surprised to see her coming from there. Taking advantage of the moment, Dhananjai's men again attacked their opponents. Men fell on the ground and more smoke followed. Bani just had one thing on her mind. She tried to scream, call out for him but he couldn't hear her. She wasn't calling him, she couldn't call him. The minimal sound Bani was able to make didn't reach his ears.
Bani's eyes were fixed on the shooter, her mind on his target. She ran, as fast as she could while thinking , 'Mujhe Jai ke paas jana hai, I need to reach him.'
Dhananjai had the feeling someone was calling him. Instantly he turned to the direction he knew Bani was hiding. To his surprise he saw her running towards him while gesturing something. He saw her lips move and he knew something was going on. Dhananjai wanted to reach her but while she was running Bani missed a heap of sand and stumbled.
Bani stumbled. While falling she could only think of Jai, of saving him. She didn't hit the ground, but instead of the brown grains she saw a vortex of colours in front of her eyes. She felt a tug at the centre of her stomach that made her feel nauseous and heard a faint ringing in her ears. Bani's body felt light and collided against something softer then the ground. It had put his arms around her. Bani suddenly felt a shot of pain in her back and then in her right shoulder. She looked up and saw Jai's face before she closed her eyes and collapsed.
'Bani!!!!!!!' Dhananjai screamed. He saw her face wrench in pain before she closed her eyes. he did not hear the shot Ravi fired on the attacker. He didn't even asked himself how Bani got in his arms this quick when he saw her stumble just seconds before, and was about to fall on the ground.
Dhananjai held Bani as close to him as possible. He couldn't bare to look at her face. 'Hellllllpppp!!!! Someone please help!!!!!'
