Why does Tanu try to please others?
Trying to please others is something we all do from time to time - but for Tanu it has become the focus of her life, even if it means destroying her happiness. What she wants has become secondary - or perhaps inconsequential.
It is clear that the crux of the story pre-leap is revolving around Tanu, the people pleaser, neglecting her own needs, happiness and fulfillment, in order to help Pawan, Chachi, Raj and Rano achieve their misconceived goals and happiness.
To us - the viewers, this kind of behavior seems ridiculous and something that many label as the Ekta factor. In reality - the CVs are portraying a real-life people pleaser in Tanu. Yes, to Tanu (and many others in this world) this feels normal and therefore the right thing to do.
I know many IF members have felt anger, rage, and frustration at Tanu for her behavior. But it is my opinion that following the horrible way that she lost her both parents Tanu is convinced that in order to survive it is only safe to put others first and that it is not safe to put her or Ahaana first. Perhaps she fears they will be rejected, abandoned, isolated, and unable to survive.
The assistance of a healer (medical or someone like Karthiyayini) can enable Tanu to accept her needs and wants as normal and acceptable and not as something to be fearful of. As we saw in the pre-cap Karthiyayini will enable Tanu to reveal her true identity. Rishi and she will have to coax her to confess the reasons for her lying about her identity. This self-confession will empower her to face her own demons and work towards living life for herself.
