Well forum is so dead silent... I thought of making one post.. 😛

So yesterday we had a Karn Kunti scene which kind of melodramatically showed us privilege that her other 5 sons enjoy and her eldest is subjected too.. Personally i found it very insulting for karn to pick up food from the floor and eat but I guess this was to show symbolically how kunti had made his life miserable and given gold plate to her other borns..

Yeah, it was a good scene. I felt so sad when karna picked it up and ate it. It was symbolic of the difference in the way in which karna and the pandavas lived. Had kunti told just Karna about her being his mother then probably things would have been different. Karna would atleast know his real identity.

Ya this karn seems to be aware of his status and acceptng it too.. this scene cud also be a symbolic one for the much popular Karn Kunti encounter when she reveals to him his identity and he gives her promise that she will be always mother of five...

What gold plate? The Pandavas had their own share of suffering too you know.

The gold plate that Karna was denied a few days ago. As of now, Pandavas are not suffering anything - apart from Ju's lovesickness - in the show. And the original gold plates Kunti left for Pandavas are people who argue for them.

I don't understand the dynamics and backstory. Why doesn't Karn's mum like him and why is he treated badly and what is Sutputra? I know it's based on the Mahabharata or something but I don't get it. Can someone explain please? I'm not Indian so not familiar with all this.

Karn is abandoned child of kunti ,she was unmarried when he was born thus due to societal pressure she abandoned him and he was raised by a low caste family. Sutaputra is like calling out his low caste..calling him Suta 's son ,Kunti likes him but can't accept him

Karna was Kunti's son before marriage. Being afraid of the society, she floated him away in a river soon after he was born. A childless outcast couple found him and brought him up. They belonged to Suta class, which was one of the six outcast classes in ancient India. Being the son of a Suta was much lower in class than being a Suta. Hence Karna was possibly denied many opportunities in life, except for what he got through prince Suyodhana's friendship. And he was constantly insulted for his parenthood.
