Reversing Fate Vs. Holding it Straight
Nikki/Gauri/Shiv dialouges today...
[Gauri]Ye lijiye ek crore ek rupe. Mein aapko aapse zyada keemat deti hoon aapke bete ki. Todh dijiye apne bete se rishtaa… Itne paise kaafi honge akele zindagi bitaane ke liye…
[Nikki]Gauri!!…
[Gauri]Bas! Bahut sun chuki mein badi maa… Shaadi ke baad ek ladki ke liye uska sasuraal hi uska apna ghar hota hai. Wohe anjaan parivaar ko apna parivaar maan kar, apni zindagi ki aakhri saans thaq wahan rehti hai. Lekin aaj… jise meine apni maa ka darja diya… wohe mujhse aakar kehti hai ke mein apne pati se rishtaa todh doon. Ye aapne dobara koshish ki hai badi maa… mere aur Shiv ke rishte ko todhne ki. Lekin shayad aap ek baat bhool gayi, ye rishtaa zaroor aapke zariye judaa hai… lekin isme marzi sirf… bhagwaan ki teeh. Shiv aur Gauri ke rishte ko toh aap kabhi samajh hi nahin payi. Shiv aur Gauri ka saath toh janmon janmon taq hai. Shiv ke bina Gauri adhoori hai, aur Gauri ke bina Shiv kabhi poore hi nahin honge. Arre humaare rishte ko maut bhi zindagi de kar lauti hai, phir aap kaun hoti hain humaara rishta todhne wali. Shiv ne har kadam pe… mera saath diya hai badi maa, aur aage bhi… aapki har chaal ka saamna karte waqt wohe mere saath hi honge.
[Nikki] Pandraan din… phir dekte hain, Shiv ki zindagi aur ghar, dono se bahar… Sirf! Pandran din.
[Gauri] Aap mujhse umar mein badi hai, izzat karti hoon mein aapki. Isliye samjha nahin rahi, biniti kar rahi hoon… Badi Maa please aisa kuch mat kijiyega… ke mujhe apne aur Shiv ke rishte ko bachaane ke liye… baaki har rishte ki maryaada bhoolni pade.
[Nikki] Dhamki de rahi ho… teekh hai. Aaj se tum apne rishte ko bachaane ki dua karna, aur mein usse todhne ka daava karti hoon.
[Shiv] Mom, aap perfect hon… mein perfect hoon? Maybe Gauri bhi perfect nahin hai, but she's perfect for me. Mein pareshaan honoonga, lekin kisi aur wajah se. Gauri ki wajase mein kabhi pareshaan ho hi nahin sakta. Ab pichle kuch saalon mein hum mein… pyar aur understanding ka rishtaa bana hai… jisse humaari shaadi ka rishtaa aur mazboot hogaya hai. I'm very happy with her… Goodnight.
Considering the above dialogues, we could gather a few things, and ask a few questions…
The question which has for so long, irked my brains is, Nikhila's motive. I wrote in a previous post that to me, the whole desire to merge Kapoor and Das Gupta companies making them the world's largest corp. is not very convincing. It just does not prove too great of a drive… a drive to exceed all limitations as Nikki has in the matter. If its about wealth and fame, the lady has both, and if measured in quantity, she has a large amount. Then how does something so materialistic, which she already has, push her to such an extent? From what I have noticed about her, she has truly never hated Gauri in the right sense of the word. It has always been about something else. And what that something else is, just leaves me scratching my head.
Gauri's love is undoubtedly pure as her smile. Her claim about death breathing life into her and Shiv's relationship was so apt. For a bond that has been to such depths and emerged as one, what can a mere Nikhila do? Also, it is a Balaji Production. But I guess that is why the saas-bahu angle had to show up. But as has been portrayed, Shiv is so dependent upon Gauri. She is his wife, the mother of his children… the basis of his life, his family. Without her, he is essentially nothing. To leave her, he will require strong motivation. Wonder what incentive Nikki will provide him with?
Gauri's indirect "dhamki" as a very smart Nikki understood, was so good. I loved how even within such a situation, our G-lady has the mannerisms and respect for her values.
The challenge was expected, and narrated powerfully by both characters. Perhaps I dislike Nikki through her actions, but dammit… She's one heck of a villan. I love her confidence and Gauri's equally matching. This is gonna be another intense "K" match, something to watch out for… Hopefully.
I think the challenge was needed also, to the extent that people had started to doubt Gauri. Her family is definitely her weakness, but she is not a weak in a whole… and Sasuma shall soon witness this new side (which I eagerly await as well). Seeing Gauri in full form like this will be a nice change.
Defining Shiv Kapoor is like banging your head incessantly against cement. The character is very complex in terms of understanding. There was hype that this "new Shiv" is a duplicate. I think that is still a possibility. Why? Well, like I said, he is difficult to understand. Shiv has always been pro at hiding his feelings and inner thoughts. He has never even completely opened up to Gauri. But then, what we saw today just burns my mind. Considering his little confession to Nikki today, it seems as though there is some underlying reason for all of this change in his behaviour. What is the cause? Umm… But what seems clear, is his need for Gauri.
And how can I sign off this post without a mention of my lil pari Shaanti? Gawd, this little one is too adorable guys!! I want to just hide her in my arms and not let go. Her acting is so convincing and beautifully executed. The way she asks Gauri about why she is crying and how "Papa gande hai" (Papa is bad)…. Sighs… she is too good. Bless her.
Cheers,
