I also think it is part of Shiv's plan so that they can't go back and Gauri cannot do anything regarding the land. But Shiv will have to face something else that was not planned by him and this will bring him more close to Gowri. But by then Gauri will be aware of the whole truth and she will leave him. This is only my prediction.
