Tell us about your character in Karam Apna Apna, the new serial, on Star Plus? I portray the character called Ipshita. It is a parallel lead character - daughter of Sugna Tandon, played by Rupa Ganguly. Ipshita is a modern, confident, focused, ambitious, independent girl yet she's very classy and elegant. It is a character with substance which I can relate easily to. This has been your first tryst with the camera. How did get your first break in television? Well, I was born in Nainital and was a training manager at an MNC in Mumbai for about four years. Career in TV was never planned. My friend had circulated my photographs in a few production houses. I was noticed by Balaji Telefilms, after which, I went for an audition. That's how I got selected for the character. Balaji has been pleasant experience; Ekta Kapoor is a fabulous person to work with. How do you find the limelight and your new role? I met all the stars from the serial and got along very well with them. It is a great learning experience for me. You see the stars on your television screen and one fine day you are a part of it (laughs) you feel really great about it. I have a long way to go. Do you have any formal training in acting? No, I never had any formal training in acting. I think acting can't be learnt in a classroom, but yes, grooming can be done. Any other projects that you are working on apart from Karam Apna Apna? I would like to take up one project at a time and I am concentrating only on Karam Apna Apna right now. It is a completely new experience for me and I am preparing for the minutes details about the role. |
