I wanted to raise for discussion a topic that I've been thinking about. A lot of people are hating on Roma and blaming her for some of the pitiful episodes. I've been thinking about this and realised that I actually like Roma. Every Indian TV series needs a villain. If not Roma, we will get another one. And with Roma and the Roma-Lalli the writers are doing a pretty good job. They are "villainous lines and actions but also some silly and funny scenes. Which is all good. For me.
The problem I feel is not in Roma. It's in how they are characterising Meera and Vivaan. Let's take yesterday, Roma had very little screen time. Meera and Vivaan has almost all the screen time. And what happened? We got some badly thought through scenes that made us dislike the male lead a lot. Even just on this forum people have come up with tens of ideas of how the writers could have used the screen time that the leads had to deepen their characterisation or this connection.
So to summarise I don't feel the solution is to cut the Roma or PK track down. Because if they do that they will just come up with another villainous track. That's just how these serials work. What they need to do is use these tracks to take their basic story forward. To make us love the leads. There are so many openings in each episode for writers - most of which they waste.
When Kaleerein was first advertised it was supposed to be about the quest of a girl to find someone to love her for who she is. I don't know about others but I was really intrigued by the initial advertising and that why I started watching Kaleerein. I wish they would take this aspect forward.
What do you think?
