I had some thoughts regarding the pride and prejudice that both Meera and Vivaan have.

If you have read the English classic Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, you will know the character of Elizabeth Bennet and Fitzwilliam Darcy. On the surface the novel could be mistaken for a story about the marriages and loves of the Bennet sisters but is obviously much more than that!

Like MeerVaan, Elizabeth and Darcy's do not start their journey on the best of terms. Both couples harbored prejudices regarding the other and of their positions or status in society.

Darcy is reserved when he first comes to Elizabeth's home village/town and she concludes that he is a snob. He has his prejudices regarding the people of a lower station than his and is aware how Mrs Bennet is pushing her eldest daughter Jane towards his best friend. Both suffer from their pride too but eventually through circumstances and troubles realise their love.

Vivaan thinks lowly of India and that it is no place for him. He thinks all Indian families only wish to marry their daughters to rich NRIs. He is proud of his achievements in life. Vivaan is wrong to class all Indian of one mind, but he is willing to change his opinion.

Meera thinks all NRI's are heartless and all things Indian are the best. Meera is also proud and a free spirit, who perhaps dives headfirst into matters and takes rash decisions without thinking first...

At the moment, Vivaan is more like Darcy than Meera is like Elizabeth...But I suppose in novel Darcy was also made aware of his faults first...

I kind of agree as well disagree here!! The theme of Pride & Prejudice is the most used theme in most of the love story. Meevan story too is not an exception!!

Vivz character is like Darcy, but Meera is not Lizy!

I have felt she exhibits nature of Darcy too at times.

I also feel, though Vivaan like Darcy will be the first to fall for, but might be last to realize this. Meera on the other hand will be last to fall for and realize her feelings, but might be the first person to acknowledge and accept!! [Provided CVs dnt distort the characters😆]

She might be the person who will make Vivz realize and accept his own feelings!!😳

I will take the best outta both... yours and Sulu's takes.😆 I have always thought of PnP while watching this show but then yes, PNP has always remained a standard reference for MnB type tales.

Vivaan is certainly like Darcy but with his own quirks. I was all for 'falling in love together' but seeing recent episodes... I feel he might fall first but realize/accept late and vice versa for Meera. But if that's the case, then they should meet at a common ground, isn't it? As it would still equate to "falling together".😆😆 They belong together even now but it's going to be one hell of a ride if makers are allowed to tell their tale.

Meera is not coming across as Lizzy or anyone else rn. 😳 #foreverinherbubble

This part is why I feel it was always a coming-of-age saga despite being in the MnB mould. No outlandish 'symbolic' scenes or mindless abuse or a mind numbingly stupid FL... typical to desi MnB. There's no 'beast' here who should be tamed. It should be kept that way. Let both the characters grow and evolve to shed their wrong notions but let them also remain what they are.

I agree, it might be Vivaan who'll evolve first... considering we see that he is willing to change his opinion reg her and her fam. And also coz we have seen how protective and adjusting he can be if he cares for someone.

Meera will see the layers peel off... or start appreciating how he really cares for her. And then come around one fine day. 😆

I just love Darcy and my love for love-hate stories came from this actually

And it's also why I keep comparing MeeVaan to Arnav and Khushi from IPKKND because both couple have so many common points with P&P, especially in the prejudices parts

And like you said, Darcy was the one declaring the love and Lizzy refused stating all his flaws and he justified himself and then changed his behaviour thus making Lizzy recognise her own faults and flaws

And here we saw Vivaan change first, so I hope we will see something similar in Kaleerein

Lizzy is determined to marry only for love and to a man who will accept that her father is not very rich. Meera wants someone to accept her as she is. In these aspects they seem similar and the habit of misunderstanding their other halves. 😆

I did state that Meera is not Lizzy yet, so let us see. 😊

I am starting to understand your POV and I hope the writers do justice to their story. 😳

I agree to a certain extent, but Meera does has some similarities to Lizzy.
A present Meera is judgemental like Lizzy. She believes the worst Vivaan, just as Lizzy believed the bad things Wickam had told her about Darcy. Lizzy is well liked in her own society and her pride was wounded by Darcy, just as Meera and Vivaan's clash of cultures. 😊
