"I can't hold it in anymore nandhu. I can't be strong anymore...

I feel helpless now" he says and bursts out crying again and nandhini immediately hugs him and calms him down.



"Shh bus, mein hoon na. You can tell me anything. I'm all ears." She says and cups his face in her hands. Manik gulps and places his hands on her hands and slowly removes her hands from his cheeks and turns his head away from her sight. She confusingly looks at him.

"Kitna pagal lag raha hoonga na mein. Esa roote huwa tumhare samne. Looking all weak and fragile" he says and wipes his tears, still looking away. Nandhini smiles and holds his shoulder and makes him turn around. He looks down to avoid eye contact and she holds his chin and makes him look up.

"Nahi manik, Upne emotions ko express kerna kamzori nahi ha. Himmat Chaya hoti ha dil khol ka rone mein, upne dil ki baat share kerne mein. Kisi intelligent admi na kaha ha ka dard baatne sa kam hota ha." She says and manik giggles and simultaneously tears flow from his eyes.

"Toh phir suno..." he says and pauses for a few seconds and looks at nandhini.

"hmm... it's okay, you can trust me" she says and holds his hand.

"All this started before I was even born. My nana, younika's dad and my daada, dad's dad were best friends and they both were rich business tycoons. Both younika and my dad grew up as best friends because both the families were very close, roz ka aana jaana hota tha ek dosre ka ghar. Dad and younika fell in love during their college days, and it was true love. Everyone was super happy to find out and got them engaged. But a few months later my nana's factory burned down into flames and that caused all of their stocks to go down. Raato raat saara business doob gaya, and they had to sell everything they owned to pay for debts including their mansion. Younika and her family were in a huge crisis and my daada fully supported them and let them stay in the Malhotra mansion." Manik says and pauses and looks at nandhini in the eye.

"Everything seems okay till now..." she says and manik takes a deep breath.

"Younika and dad planned to meet in the study room/ office room in the middle of the night since they were only engaged and not allowed to be alone. Younika got there first and was looking around daada's office room and she found a file labeled with my nana's name. She was curious so she started reading it and found out that the fire and everything was a plan just so the duopoly that both companies carried could end and Malhotra industries could have a monopoly in the market. Nandhini if any one company went out of business the other would automatically get 50% more share of the market making it a total of 100%.

Anyways so because of all this drama my Nana got a brain tumor and passed away, Younika was furious and that day she decided that her life's motive is to ruin Malhotra khandan till the day she dies. She started planning against my daada but she got caught very easily. Younika couldn't outsmart my daada. He was going to tell my dad a fake story and break the engagement but younika wasn't going to back out. She..." manik says and stops.

"What did she do?" nandhini asks curiously.

"She got my dad drunk and... got pregnant" manik says.

"Oh" nandhini says.

"She knew that the malhotra's would never let her go away with their heir so she took advantage of that. She threatened everyone that if the wedding won't happen as soon as possible she will go tell the media that dad was a player and left her alone just like harshad did with navya. That is when dad got to see her true face but the wedding had to happen because of her threat. Shaddi ka baad things got worse. She started making everyone's life miserable, nobody was happy not even dad. She would create fights and taunt everyone all the time. There was so much anger and hatred filled in her heart. She never stopped and thought that everything that had happened, my dad had nothing to do with it. He was innocent! Then I came along, my dad thought that maybe looking at their baby would soften her up a little but things actually got worse. They got worse because of me nandhini! Younika never cared enough to raise me properly and I would always be with my daada. In a few years my daada died too and there was no one left to properly take care of me. My dad had also been frustrated with living with younika. He was ready to leave her but he didn't want me to grow up in a broken family so he stayed as long as he could..." Manik says and stops and tears flow from his eyes again.
"So when did he leave?" Nandhini absks.
"When I was 5. I still remember that fight at 3 am in the morning. Younika had come back home from another one night stand. Dad was furious, I still remember the look on his face. He said that never did he imagine a Malhotra khandan ki bahu bringing so much shame to our house. Dad could not live another day with her anymore but he knew that if they got a divorce she would go to court and use the past against him. She would also use me as an advantage to get childcare. She would have asked for so much in alimony that she would own all of Malhotra industries and dad just could not give his ancestors efforts away like that so he could not get a divorce. So he made an agreement with younika. They would live separate and she would be 20% partner of Malhotra industries as long as younika took good care of me and raised me properly. Younika agreed and dad left for Pune and never looked back. He missed parent teacher meetings, birthdays, football games, my wedding. The only way I had contact with him was through the phone or if I went to pune myself. He was a good dad but he avoided being with me because of younika. And younika, she lied in her contract. She never took good care of me instead she made my life miserable. She tried to take over everything that ever made me happy. All these years I wondered why but when I found out about the past I realized it was because mein upne daada ka pota hoon na. I'm a Malhotra, and destroying the Malhotra's is her aim in life. Anyways so that's how the give and take started, that's how the blackmailing started. I would blackmail her that I will tell dad that she tortures me and hence their partnership agreement would break. Blackmailing her always got me my freedom from her evil plans. That's when mom became younika for me. She may have given me birth but not even for one second has she loved me even a little bit. Nafrat or buri niyat ka elawa Kuch nahi ha us aurat ka dil mein" manik says sadly and lowers his head and tries to handle himself.
Nandhini pats his shoulder.

"Manik..." Nandhini says emotionally and Manik looks up at her and fakes a smile. Nandhini stands up from the stairs and paces back and forth for a few seconds and manik just closley looks at her.
"Manik, I just don't understand. I'm a woman, the thought of having my own little baby one day. It makes me so happy manik! It makes me feel impatient, excited! A little peice of my heart, a baby that will look like me, act like me. I will get to see that kid grow up. Mera upna bacha, manik! Every woman dreams of the day she will become a mother. It's so hard to imagine younika being like this to you. Ek aurat ka dil mein mohabat or mamta ka elawa Kuch nahi hota, manik! How can she be like this?" Nandhini says and trembles in tears. Manik giggles lightly, tears still flowing from his eyes. He gestures nandhini to come back and sit down. Nandhini sits by him and wipes her tears.

" Mera dil mein bhi wohi excitement, wohi impatience ha nandhini, lekin harshad mein nahi tha. Bichara Abeer isn't even getting his family name all because of harahad's negligence. Younika mein bhi woh care woh motherhood ka ehsas nahi ha. I guess Kuch log esa hi hote ha." Manik says calmly. Nandhini thinks for a bit and then holds manik's hand.
"Lekin manik, this all was in the past. Why were you so sad Abhi? Achanak yeh sub yaad kaisa Aya?" Nandhini asks him and he sighs.
"I went back home this morning to get my clothes and things since I'm staying with you for 3 days. I thought dad left for Pune last night directly from your house. But he didn't, he was at Malhotra mansion. I didn't even know anyone was home because usually younika is always at business meetings during the day. I went to my room and grabbed everything I needed. As I came downstairs I heard noises coming from younika's room. I thought its probably one of her boyfriends or something and didn't care. But then I heard screaming and shouting and glass shattering. I didnt care about younika but I obviously didn't want a weirdo in my house. So I walked towards to her room and as I got closer I realized that it was dad's voice. He and younika were fighting over their contract. Dad said that younika did not do a good job in raising me and that's why I have so many issues in my marital life. Younika was screaming at him saying that he was never even here for me, but she was, all he did was run away. Dad said he had to do that, since living with her was impossible for him, he said that he regrets the day they conceived me. He said ka ager manik nahi hota toh Na zaberdasti ki shaddi hoti or na sub ki zindagi itni mushkil hoti. Nandhini I grew up with younika hating me, but today I found out that dad wished I was never born..." Manik says and nandhini was just quite, she didn't know what to say.
"Nandhini I am the reason for everyone's troubles? Nobody wanted me! Nandhini i didn't grow up with a happy loving family like you did. Tumhe andaaza nahi ha ka kitna dard hota ha yeh jaan ka that everyone was better off without you. Mein nahi hota toh aj sub kuch theek hota. Mein ager nahi hota toh shayad Aj dada ji zinda hote! Sub meri galti ha. Na mein acha beta ban paya na acha pati..." He says and bursts out crying like a fragile little baby.
Nandhini nods a no.
"Nahi nahi manik... Esa nahi ha!" Nandhini says and tries calming him down. Manik gestures her to stop talking.
"Nahi nandhini yehi sach ha! Mene tumhe bhi bahot takleef di ha! I never deserved you! Mein bahot bura hoon, janta hoon mein lekin nandhini I never meant it... I'm sorry... Nandhini mein jaanta hoon ka mena kaha tha ka fab 5 is before you but trust me, even they don't know the entire story. They only know the parts they saw with their own eyes as I was growing up. Mene kabhi bhi upne past ki baat kerne ki himmat nahi ki Aj tak. Mene tumhe bahot rulaya, tumhe biwi ka Darja nahi diya, tumhe takleef di, tum pa haath uthaya, mein bahot bura hoon bahot hi bura. Dad na sahi kaha, mein nahi hota toh Kisi ko bhi Aj dard nahi hota" manik says and joins his hands ( In maafi position) Infront of nandhini and continues crying like crazy. He was shaking and trembling and bawling his eyes out.
Nandhini holds his joined hands and makes him lower his hands.
"Nahi manik nahi... Please esa maafi mat mango, I know humari generation itni traditional nahi ha. But tumhara mera samne esa girgira ka maafi maangne sa mera suhag ki bezati hogi. Please sumbhaalo khud ko please" nandhini says and bursts out crying and lightly pecks his hands.
"I'm sorry" he continues crying and nandhini shakes her head in a no.
"Shh... Tumne Kisi ko bhi takleef nahi di ha. Tum nahi jaante ka tum mein ek aisi quality ha Jo bahot logo mein nahi Hoti..." Nandhini says and manik look at her confusingly.
"Huh?" He mumbles.
"Yaari! Yaarro ka yaar ho tum manik!" Nandhini says and manik looks at her
" Dhruv or tum you are like connected like no other freinds manik! Esa lagta ha jaisa Tum dono bichare huwa twins ho! Tum aur kabir can go on for hours, joke about anything and kabhi bhi ek dosre ka kamina baaton ka bura nahi mante. You and mukti, she is the sister you never had! You guys fight like Tom and Jerry. Tum sa mile bagair woh ek din nahi

"You would have killed me if that didn't change" he says with a smile and tears still flowing from his eyes.
" And manik me, meri zindagi ho tum. Tum.ho toh mein hoon. Kisne bola you are a bad husband? Mene toh nahi bola!" She says and manik holds her hand.
"So you forgive me?"he asks with a smile and nandhini frowns immediately. She gazes into his eyes, she didn't know what to say.
