Chapter 4
Soon they stopped playing and went back to Malhotra Mansion to get some rest before they go to the club at night. Everyone left except Manik who stayed back to spend some time with Nandini.
Veebha wanted to stay too but Cabir somehow took her from there.
"So when did you meet them?" Nandini asked.
"Fab4 and Veebha?"
Nandini nodded and took a sip from her juice.
"We were in the same class but I first started talking to Veebha because she was sitting in front of me. Then she introduced me to Mukti and Alya. Later Cabir and Dhruv joined our group."
"Who is the closest to you?"
"Cabir. He knows everything about me. I don't hide anything from him and vice versa."
"Now you tell me about your friends and when are you introducing them to me?"
"I made many friends but only two are close ones. Navya and Aaryaman. Navya joined our High School after you left and since then we are best friends. I met Aaryaman at the hospital and we started talking and became really good friends. And you'll meet them both soon."
"Do you like Aaryaman?"
"As a friend, of course."
"Not more than that?"
"Obviously not."
"Do you like someone?"
"Yes."
"Who?" Manik asked trying not to show his anger and sadness.
"Shahid Kapoor."
Manik stared at her for a minute.
"Seriously? Shahid Kapoor?"
"Yeah. He's so handsome."
"And married too."
"Yaar Manik was it necessary to ruin everything?"
"I'm just-."
"Shut up."
"Okay sorry."
"I missed this, our arguments."
"Me too."
They both smiled.
"Now go and take some rest. I'll see you in the evening."
He nodded and was about to go when Nandini hold his hand.
Manik turned and looked at her.
"What happened?"
She shook her head no and got up. She stood in front of him and kissed his cheek.
"Bye." And with that she went upstairs, leaving a grinning Manik behind.
Evening
All were ready and were waiting for Nandini in Murthy Mansion.
"How much time will Nandini take?" Veebha asked getting annoyed of waiting for her.
Before anyone could reply, they saw Nandini coming down from the stairs looking gorgeous.
Nandini came down and stood in front of them. Everyone complimented her.
Manik was admiring her when he saw that the dress is backless.
"Now that Nandini is also here let's go." Dhruv said.
"WAIT!!" Manik shouted scaring everyone.
They all turned and looked at him while he was looking at Nandini.
"You-." He said pointing at Nandini.
"-go back to your room and change."
"But Manik she is looking so gorgeous." Alya said.
"Yes and we'll be late too." Mukti added.
"I don't want to hear anything. Nandini is changing and that's final."
"But why Mani? I'm not looking good?" Nandini asked.
"No! You're looking very beautiful but-."
"But what Mani?"
"It's backless!"
Everyone rolled their eyes except Veebha who was looking at him confused. She couldn't understand why he is bothered with Nandini wearing backless dress. All girls are wearing backless dresses but he said nothing to them and more specifically to her.
So why was he telling Nandini?
"Mani-."
"Change Nandini!" he said angrily and Nandini saw that so she immediately went up to change.
Everyone sat silently as they knew Manik is angry right now.
After few minutes, they saw Nandini coming down.

They all stood up. Nandini went in front of Manik.
"Is this okay? Or should I change again?"
Manik shook his head no and smiled at her.
He leaned and kissed her cheek and whispered a sorry in her ear.
She smiled at him.
"It's okay. You have all the rights to tell me to change."
Manik was about to say something when Veebha interrupted him.
"Let's go guys. We already got late." She said.
Everyone nodded.
Soon they reached the club.
Manik held Nandini's hand and went inside, leaving everyone behind.
Veebha looked at their intertwined hands and glared at Nandini.
They all went to take a drink.
Soon they went on the dance floor. At first Manik stayed with Nandini but then Dhruv pulled him on the dance floor.
Nandini was sitting alone, watching them dancing when Veebha came and sat beside her.
Nandini smiled at her and went back to watching everyone dancing.
"Do you like Manik?"
Nandini turned and looked at her.
"As a best friend." But deep inside she felt like she was lying. She didn't understand why she felt that. Did she like Manik more than a friend?
She looked at Manik dancing and laughing with Mukti. They were pretty close. She didn't like that. But why?
"I fall in love with my best friend,didn't I?" she said to herself.
Before she could think further, Veebha started talking.
"We were together, you know. We were happy but then we broke up due to a misunderstanding. I know he still loves me and we will get together again. I'm just giving a little time."
Then she got up and left smirking.
Nandini sat there frozen.
With tears in her eyes, she looked at Manik. He was still dancing but with Veebha this time.
